FLYGHT CLUB‘s latest single, ‘Quaalude’ narrates succumbing to a moment of weakness and regrettably ending up hurting someone who you love dearly. The accompanying music video further portrays this story, with the artist confiding:
“I came up with a story where a guy is left to himself as his girlfriend goes on a work trip. Seeing this as an off day, he agrees to meet up with his college buddy and go partying. Before hitting the club, they decide to take quaaludes. The guy ends up meeting a girl and going over to her place before blacking out. The guy wakes up the next day with no memory of the previous night and feeling guilty about having cheated on his girlfriend. He finds himself tied to a bed. The girl from the night before turns out to be a satanist and plans to sacrifice the guy for a ritual. I found this situation so interesting to write about as it also brought in instant karma and crazy repercussions to cheating.”
This lapse of judgment is conveyed through sensual instrumentation reminiscent of The Weeknd. Featuring vocals from fellow artist Brandt, ‘Quaalude’ emits a laid back, sluggish vibe. A slightly off-beat ticking sound that plays throughout the track represents being under the influence of a slow sedative drug such as a Quaalude, where time flows slower and switches pulses, leading to a false sensation of two separate streams of time flowing simultaneously.
Flyght Club is the contemporary musical project of Indian artist Shauvik Sharan. Having moved to Los Angeles to pursue his music career, Flyght Club’s music demonstrates his extreme versatility, exploring a multitude of genres and themes, with every song being made to cater to different moods and emotions, essentially leaving him unchained from the boundaries of musical genres.

Grammy-nominated artist MASEGO puts a trap jazz spin on the classic Rodgers and Hammerstein song, ‘Favorite Tings,’ which was first heard in The Sound of Music and has since become a holiday staple.
Masego, who has amassed over two billion combined global streams in his career to date, recently earned his first GRAMMY nomination. Masego will launch a headline tour of Europe and the U.K.. on February 11 in Warsaw. The run will wrap up at London’s O2 Brixton on March 13. Mereba will support on all dates.

Big Boi and JID, has amassed 3.2 million combined streams and was praised by NPR as “a lush neo-soul single that unveils wonderland.” November brought ‘Yamz’ with Devin Morrison, which is climbing the Mediabase R&B chart and creating a buzz on Shazam. VIBE said, “‘Yamz’ demands the attention of R&B purists,” and went on to praise “the duo’s sultry singing and the song’s seductive production.” .
Masego is a singular talent and surprising presence who cites 1930s Harlem big bandleader Cab Calloway as a guiding spirit and was mentored by DJ Jazzy Jeff. A meditation on reaching your highest self, ‘Mindful,’ the latest single from Calgary alternative R&B artist UYEMI calls for cutting cords with those who block your growth. The track, which appears on her upcoming Butterfly Effect EP, is out now with an accompanying video directed by Alimzhan Sabir (Mattiel, ToBi, Jon Vinyl), with creative direction from Uyemi and video production by fellow visionary artist Selci.
The video takes viewers into a bleary-eyed Uyemi’s dishevelled environment, a metaphor for her troubled world. Connecting to her higher self through a TV set in retro soul-infused sequences and euphoric soft-focus hallucinations, Uyemi’s journey from anguished to elevated state of mind is stylishly portrayed.
“There’s free will/You can do whatever you like…You can be yourself,” Uyemi intones to her turmoiled self from an alternate place. And it’s in this space between strength and vulnerability that she finds her groove. Paired with smooth-as-liquid melodies, her airy vocals waft like a long, calming exhale.
“’Mindful’ is a plea to protect your energy fromunhealthy relationships and negative thinking,” Uyemi says. “You’ve got to be mindful of everything around you, so you can create the life that you want.
