Album Review: Fiero – Population 7

population-7-fiero-album-cover

Hailing all the way from the West Midlands, nine piece hip-hop/neo-soul act POPULATION 7 have dropped their brand new album entitled ‘Fiero’, earlier this week.

A real sultry soulful/jazz fusion takes centre stage and swagger throughout the nine-track production, with smooth Erykah Badu-esque vocals and the occasional, laid-back freestyling giving the slick combo that extra kick.

I’ve found a real treasure here – so don’t disappoint me now and CHECK IT OUT!!!

Must Listens: Blindspot, Slugums, Wi – Fi, Fiero, Paz6 & FoxP2.

Album Review: Staring Into Space – Oloff

oloff-staring-into-space

After four months releasing his EP Life’s Got You Riveted ( once voted Album of the Week by NEW LEASE MUSIC) OLOFF rounds off the year with his 15-piece album, Staring Into Space, released last month.

The latest project predominantly includes three-minute bursts of his old instrumental recordings dating back to 2012, where this young artist put his smooth spin on vintage/Slum Village-esque hip-hop. This guy is cut from a different cloth; he’s worth a trial – check him out!

Must Listens: Never Was Feeling Poorly, DECRACS, Someone Took.

Mixtape Review: Arcadia – Dizzy Rambunctious

He dazzled this blog and fans with standout tracks including Midnight Jams and Carnival…now DIZZY RAMBUNCTIOUS is sure set to blow minds with his 16-track instrumental mixtape, Arcadia, released this month.

In his latest release, the young New Jersey producer took inspiration from classic and modern arcade games, often fusing the sugary sweet nostalgic rhythms with his laid-back, borderline boom bap trademark. Definitely worth a trial – hit that play button.

Mixtape Review: Hall Of Fame – Fameos

hall-of-fame-fameos

FAMEOS is rapidly becoming a regular on NEW LEASE MUSIC. The newcomer dropped his latest effort, Island last month as well as joining forces on hot tracks, Rambo and Get It Right with fellow NEW LEASE MUSIC staple Spike Geez – all featured on the his latest mixtape, Hall Of Fame.

Now the slick emcee from Philadelphia is determined to steal more of the limelight on the blog with his 10-track production by making use of the light atmospheric overtones respectfully colliding with the slight heavy bass, with his effortlessly cooler-than-cool delivery.

This upriser deserves some attention; go check out the mixtape.

Island, Hold It, Aw Yeah, Angels & Demons, My Mind

EP Review: Further Away: Melanie Crew

melanie-crew

It’s been a little over a year since MELANIE CREW appeared on NEW LEASE MUSIC with her debut EP Until The End, which received airplay on BBC Radio 6 and BBC Kent. Now she’s back with her second EP, Further Away, released beginning of this month.

The London-based singer/songwriter reunites with her old faithful acoustic guitar, creating that rich, folky sensation and adds some soulful and sultry spice to her usual sweet and (respectfully) girl-like vocal range.

With therapeutic and occasionally soft uptempo soundscapes, Further Away EP is the perfect bet to start the week on a soothing note –  after a rowdy weekend.

Must Listens: Ghost, A Hundred Words, All That I Want.
