New Track: Ronaldo – Nick Brewer

NICK BREWER has been on somewhat of a journey over the last few years. From a top 20 hit with ‘Talk To Me’ on Island Records, to seemingly disappearing. But Nick has been slowly but surely building back up over the past 18 months, regularly releasing new material to acclaim from a new generation.

The ‘Sidelines’ EP is Nick’s first EP since 2015. Nick explores the realities of what it feels like being on the sidelines. Watching everything unfold in front of you knowing that you can make an impact if you take one step forward. The EP also features guest appearances from KREEA, FAVELA and vocals from Kadeem Tyrell.

The second single from the EP ‘Ronaldo’ – out now – features soundbites from John Motson depicting Nick’s recent highs and lows, similarly to those of Ronaldo (No.9). Each verse sees Nick playing with words just as poetic as a football at the feet of Ronaldo.

On the track Nick says “Brazil’s Ronaldo is a legend. Watching him rip up numerous world cups while I was growing up is something I will never forget, and this song is a way of paying homage to him, while also making a statement about myself and how I aspire to have a similar impact in the music world.”

Nick will be performing at Bermondsey Social Club (London) next Monday (10th December) –  a night not to miss. For now, check out Nick’s sizzling track below…

New Track: Stay Woke – Maj

From the streets of South London, MAJ released his new record ’Stay Woke’ via his own independent label Sound Familiar.

Coining the popular phrase ’Stay Woke’ for his new single, MAJ sends out words of warning as he delves into certain ordeals that men, women, couples and friends are faced with in today’s society. With an uplifting melodic rap style of UK hip-hop, he sends the message to stay woke and not be manipulated into believing the falsities that surround us daily.

Having previously been nominated for an Unsigned Music Award and landing a sync deal with MTV, MAJ has been perfecting his craft from a young age. Turning his talents to education by completing a National Diploma in Music Technology, the rapper also took major influence from Hip-Hop greats such as Bone Thugs N Harmony, Snoop Dogg, Biggie Smalls, evident in his storytelling and rap approach.

Now on his path to create his own music and release it independently, MAJ delivers his first release ’Stay Woke’. check out the video below….

New Music Video: Free Up – Coops

Taken from his critically acclaimed album ‘Life In The Flesh’, COOPS drops his latest video for what is one of the most conscious tracks on the project, ‘Free Up’.

Delving deep into the issues and environment that today’s generation find themselves in, COOPS paints a vivid picture of the mental and physical control that society has over them. Providing an inspirational and insightful social commentary, ‘Free Up’ aims to open the mind to a new ideology that allows us all the freedom to think for ourselves rather than be subjected to a predetermined mind state. Partnered with an equally captivating, yet simplistic video, released via the High Focus YouTube channel, COOPS delivers an engaging performance alongside a series of scenes and clips that add further depth and diligence to the lyricism within this beautifully crafted joint.

Having created serious awareness with his latest release, COOPS has excelled as “an artist that stands for something and seeks to use his soulful, yet urgent voice to bring awareness” (Bloggers Gamut). Whilst ‘Life In The Flesh’ generally has a chilled and traditional Hip-Hop tone, it is the lyricism and subjects that need to have close attention paid to them. Conceptualising the cycle of life, death and reincarnation of the spirit and soul, his project captures the middle state, known as life. He incorporates an introspective glimpse into the mental and physical trials and tribulations of his own life, eloquently pieced together, track by track.

As the title would suggest, ‘Life In The Flesh’ is an unadulterated reflection of modern-day life as he sees it. Pulling no punches, COOPS and producer Talos have meticulously pieced together an epic record echoing all the ups and downs of existence in the present day. Whether it be with his poetic turn of phrase or the stories told via Talos’ dense emotive production, ‘Life In The Flesh’ is one of those special projects brings us back to a time when Hip-Hop had meaning, with plenty of food for thought.
