BadCameo Gears Up For Their Second Album, ‘Friday Night Time Warp’

Three-piece act BADCAMEO is a connoisseur when it comes to mixing and blending an array of old-school styles – funk, disco, and soul with modern pop & R&B, which they call ‘Indie-Funk Fusion.’ They’ve brought their energetic fusion to more than sixty shows since the start of 2021 and were fortunate to share the stages with heavyweights, including electronic pop duo Sylvan Esso, jam-alt rock band Kendall Street Company, and NC band Of Good Nature.

With over twenty shows already lined up for this summer alone, BadCameo is certainly on the go. Currently, the Tampa-based trio is all set to release their upcoming album, ‘Friday Night Time Warp,’ out on 5th August. The ten-track project demonstrates they are masters of putting together an assortment of serious (often nostalgic) grooves which features the lead single, ‘Funk Train,’ which offers up a rich nostalgia of old-school funk mixed with the vibrancy of modern tones, whereas the second track, ‘Healin’,’ is a reflective pop/R&B tune highlighting the importance of self-love.

‘Friday Night Time Warp’ follows their debut album, ‘BadCameo Out Loud,’ released in 2020. They firmly cemented their place in the music scene with hit singles’ baby come back to me,’ ‘so cold,’ and ‘discotec’ in 2021.

Song of the Day: Coma – Susan Hisey

SUSAN HISEY‘s debut single ‘Coma’ is a vulnerable track about coming out of a mental nadir to a changing world. The lyrics goes on a journey through struggling with intense mental health issues while dealing with change amidst a fast-paced society. Simplistic piano chords allow Hisey’s crisp yet emotive voice to come alive as she recounts how she lived her life in a constant “fight or flight” before gradually coming out of this mental coma.

A soul Pop/Country singer-songwriter from Elyria, Ohio, Susan strives to preserve her authenticity throughout her music career, focusing on real lyrics that people can relate to. While Susan is gentle at heart, she is strong in song with vocals that have been professionally trained for years through musical theater and choir, and as a Commercial Music major at Belmont University.

While in school, she performed alongside Trisha Yearwood, Laura Bell Bundy, and Cece Winans, and performed in an acapella group with Imogen Heap at the Ryman Auditorium. She most recently performed in a Matt Davenport Production tour “American Big Band: Home for the Holidays.” Currently, she works as a vocal coach and a mentor for teens moms with an organization called “Young Lives” in Nashville TN.

‘Coma’ shows us it’s okay to not be okay; a message we could all stand to hear more often. Have a listen to this stunning ballad below…
