New Track: Something Special – Slowes

lowes-something-special

Danish duo SLOWES present the next iteration of their psychedelic-pop with new single Something Special,  released through the US (Californian) label Noon Pacific.

The three-and-a-half laid-back production displays the perfect combination of floating synths and the melodic presence of the piano, with vocals dripping with sonic emotion. Their previous release, I Need You generated support from Indie Shuffle, Clash and Idolator and gained over 80k hits on Soundcloud and exposure across BBC Radio, with support from Huw Stephens, Phil Taggart and Nemone.

Taking advantage of the summer season by touring extensively, the synth poppers have performed at Trailerpark Festival and Ideal Bar in Copenhagen, Inversus Festival and Tape in Aarhus and The Shacklewell Arms in London.

Striking a balance between organic pop and ‘chillwave’, Jack Kilburn (vocals) and Anders Hamann (drums) formed SLOWES in 2015. Something Special is now the second single from the pair ahead of their debut EP set for release early next year.

Go on, have a bump free Monday; have a listen SLOWES‘ latest effort.

EP Review: Chirality – XamVolo

xamzolo-chirality-ep

If you heard of XAMVOLO then you’ll certainly heard his leading soulful/jazz number, Down…and if you dig the single, well you’ll be in for a treat with his four-track EP, Chirality.

The laid-lack set is, by large, a continuation of Down – a hazy juxtaposition of the aforementioned genres, which showcase a Sade-level of class – and that’s REALLY hard to top.

With irresistibly hypnotic pieces that can be hailed as modern classics, this (clever) cool cat has positioned himself as a promising and timeless artist who will have music fanatics, all from generations, buying his future projects blind. If you’re not convinced, hit that play button.

Must Listens: Down, Gold Leaf

Speaking of the latest effort, she said: “It’s is a song of power, courage and self-awareness. The words just rolled off my tongue, and it all comes from a very honest place. DJ Simbad pulled the magic out of this track by keeping the beat simple and allowing the vocals and harmonies to shine through. We had a great time jamming sounds, but both felt the most important thing was the self motivational message, that this 21st Century soul track offers.”
