Afro-Pop Star Oxlade Releases Lyric Video For New Single ‘DKT’

Following on from his EP ‘Oxygene’ – which amassed over 25 million streams across all platforms – three million streams in its first week – and his feature on Skip Marley’s single ‘Slow Down (alongside H.E.R and Davido), Afro-pop sensation OXLADE drops the lyric video for his sassy number, ‘DKT (Dis Kind Thing)’.

Starting out by dishing up music on Soundcloud in 2017, Lagos-based Oxlade released his first official single ‘Shugar’ the following year, which instantly caught the attention of hordes of music fans. Also known for the hit song ‘Sing’ with Fireboy DML and collaborations with acts such as Reekado Banks and DJ Tunez, another breakthrough moment for Oxlade was his feature on the Blaqbonez track ‘Mamiwota’ last year. Also in 2019, Oxlade featured alongside Sneakbo on Skengdo’s UK underground track ‘Brixton Boy’ and he performed to a 20,000-strong audience at the world famous O2 Arena in London at Wizkid’s Starboy Fest.

GoldKay Starts The ‘Party’ With Latest Afroswing Single

London based British Ghanaian artist GOLDKAY rolls up at the right time to keep the summer mood going, with brand new single, ‘Party’.

Fusing elements of afrobeats, R&B and dancehall together to deliver an infectious number, ‘Party’ comes on the back of the success of GoldKay’s latest single ‘Like That’, which has already amassed over 100,000 streams in just a few months.

Before emerging as a solo artist and bursting onto the UK afrobeats landscape with his infectious afroswing, R&B and dancehall fusion sound, highlighted by his breakout track ‘Bluffin’, GoldKay started out in music as a member of the acclaimed British choir group Gospel Singers Incognito, where he was able to hone his craft, amassing over 30 millions views on YouTube, with performances at the BBC, Channel 4, Bestival, Sky One and ITV, while also working with the likes of Stevie Wonder, Dappy (N-Dubz), Westllife and Crazy Cousinz.

It’s time to get into the party mode and click play on the slamming smooth joint, created in collaboration with burgeoning Accra-based production duo Ugly x Tough.

Song of the Day: Roots – IYKZ

London based Nigerian rap artist IYKZ has been releasing music independently since 2012, and has always felt that something’s been missing; a connection of some sort. The story; his story, the good the bad and the ugly. The story of his background, IYKZ’ Roots.

“The process of being comfortable in our own skin takes years, and such growth should be celebrated.” – IYKZ

IYKZ is of African decent, he’s Nigerian, patriotic and proud. Having previously collaborated with the likes of Maleek Berry and gaining millions of streams on Spotify, as well as support from tastemakers at BBC 1Xtra and KISS Fresh, IYKZ continues his upward trajectory. This single is what he feels those feelings of inner love and peace sound like. With the rich afro-inspired rap production from Ransom Beatz (Davido, Big Tobz, Runtown), IYKZ explores memories of his childhood, showing his journey much gratitude and adoration….

Why not join him on his nostalgic journey and have a listen to ‘Roots’…

EP Review: This is Korie – Korie

With KORIE‘s EP, ‘This is Korie’, personally I feel there are subtle influences of the once-popularised Yo pop – a mixture of jazz, funk, reggae and Afrobeats – fused with acoustic, almost stripped -back performances led by the guitar. When you listen to each track in this set, it feels like this young Nigerian singer/songwriter is performing right in front of you in an intense, intimate setting of an underground jazz club.

Her pronounced Motherland-esque vocals, which holds so much passion, paints a vivid storytelling of her fears in life, the pursuit to find true love and the determination in becoming a better person. It’s very clear that from the EP that Korie lives and breathes music…and it’s very rare I come across any material of music, where you can actually feel the musician’s love for music.

So ladies and gents, let me introduce you to the very talented Miss Korie in her purest and rawest form…
