OUT TODAY: Obsidian Cane & Gizella call for more humanity with second single, ‘Crazy World’

Producer OBSIDIAN CANE and singer GIZELLA continue to craft their newfound collaboration with second release of the year, ‘Crazy World’, out today (17th April) across various music platforms.

With ‘Crazy World’, Obsidian Cane once again proves that Drum ‘N’ Bass doesn’t have to be a formulaic affair by venturing into a mesmeric and delicate version of the genre. Gizella’s three-octave vocal range perfectly intertwine with the captivating soundscapes, calling for more humanity in today’s unsettling and disruptive times.

‘Crazy World’ quickly follows their debut single ‘Never Change’, which received raving reviews on various notable online publications – YourEDM and Playy Magazine, hailed the duo as ‘musical geniuses’, whereas A&R Factory praised Obsidian Cane’s production prowess and compared Gizella’s vocal performance to the likes of Björk.

The collaboration is born out of Obsidian Cane’s search for a female vocalist. He asked an old school friend, who told him about a singer who rides a bike every morning, singing angelically. As Obsidian Cane and Gizella met for the first time it became very clear, although their music styles were very different, they could create something special that’s distinctive without comprising each other’s artistry.

Hailing from London, Obsidian Cane has produced music for artists signed to Warner Bros, EMI and Parlophone as well as producing music for TV shows on Channel 4, BBC1 and BBC2. He scored a club hit, ‘I Need A Rhythm’ as UKG duo KP and currently performs live with KP featuring Ferraz at events such as 51st state Festival, House of Silk. A Music Technology Graduate, Obsidian Cane bravely fuses R&B, Funk & Hip-Hop elements with electronic rhythms to create distinctive UK Garage, R&B/Hip Hop & Drum and Bass songs.

Debuting on Gotcha! Records in 1998 with the vinyl release of ‘Express Yourself,’ Gizella made a name for herself in the UK Underground Garage dance scene. Evolving as a versatile vocalist & singer-songwriter performing across a wide spectrum of genres – including Hip Hop, EDM, Drum n Bass, and Dubstep – Gizella has gained a well-earned reputation as a vocal chameleon and storyteller and has collaborated with various artists including Korostyle, Juleunique, Mizimo, Experimental Feelings and Ronny Becher.

With ‘Never Change’ steadily rising their burgeoning collaboration, their new single ‘Crazy World’ – out today (17th April) across various music platforms – may well nudge them into the limelight as the ones to watch. Why not check it out below…

New Track: O.L.V – Adjua

Hailing from Bristol, vocalist and producer ADJUA releases her debut single ‘O.L.V’, fresh off her upcoming album.

The tracks creation began with just the words “one little voice” – a line which ultimately became the overriding inspiration for the single. Diving headfirst into a deep rolling bass-line, ADJUA‘s powerful vocals cut through the darkness. Inspired by the bass heavy depths of Bristol’s underground music scene, a kaleidoscope of sounds and textures are fused with ADJUA’s transcendent songwriting to form her powerful, dark-pop aesthetic.

With the accompanying video the artist enlisted the help of aerial acrobat Amber Lavina to embody the track’s feeling of courage, as she gracefully defies gravity in the dark and mystical visual.

ADJUA began her musical career as a teenage drummer in an all-female punk band, where she quickly developed a taste for a genre that was willing to push social and political boundaries. After collaborating with a range of producers, she became revered for her high energy live performances as the front woman for Backbeat Soundsystem, combining her soulful melodies with a deep, poetic lyricism.

The talented young producer’s debut release shows an artist on the rise….check out the video to ADJUA‘s ‘O.L.V’ below:
