SOTD: Craze 24 Pays Tribute To Victims Of Knife And Gun Crime in ‘Everybody’s Got 2 Learn’

‘Everybody’s Got 2 Learn’ is the latest rap offering from CRAZE 24 featuring Davinah. Featuring a sample of The Korgis’ 1980 classic ‘Everybody’s Got to Learn Sometimes’, the track not only heralds a touching feeling of nostalgia, but also serves as a hard-hitting tribute to the victims of knife and gun crime. In response to recently increasing spikes of violence in and around London, CRAZE 24 aims to shine a light on the darker sides of street life. In doing so, he also hopes to incite a much-needed change.

With the song’s music video telling the heartbreakingly honest story of a little boy growing up without any positive role models in his life and the negative impacts this has, ‘Everybody’s Got 2 Learn’ strips away the glorification of weaponry that has become so prevalent within rap music.

Speaking on the issue, CRAZE 24, otherwise known as Jay Miller, said:
‘I think the UK music industry should be standing together in solidarity and addressing the many factors that are helping to create this epidemic. Artists, platforms and labels have the power of influence which, by default, makes them either a positive or negative role model.
If we keep turning a blind eye, pointing the finger and ignoring our responsibility when releasing music, we’re also contributing to the problem.’

Alongside expressing his feelings on this topic through his music, CRAZE 24 and his ‘We Run the Roads’ collaborator, Big Ven, are launching a youth divisionary programme to help the most vulnerable and susceptible victims of knife and gun crime.

‘Everybody’s Got 2 Learn’ is also the title track on Craze’s upcoming album. Featuring the vocal talents of P Money, D Double E, Stylo G and many more, the album travels through different musical genres, freestyles and spoken word to tell a larger tale of positive progression on a personal, social and cultural level.

With the track, music video and youth divisionary programme all being rolled out this summer, GX Records, Phoenix Music International and, at the heart of it all, CRAZE 24 hope that this will be the start of a new, positive revolution in rap culture.

New Music Video: Stubborn – Ryan De La Cruz

RYAN DE LA CRUZ is back in full force following the success of his collaboration with Ghetts and S Wavey on ‘Player’ and critically acclaimed single ’Syko’ earlier this year – and with a forthcoming EP on the way (a 5-track testament to owning your inner craziness), ’Stubborn’ is the first teaser of what’s to come.

The lo-fi, gritty video gives you an authentic look into the unmatchable energy and confidence he carries with him, and his ease with dance and performance, giving likeness to his idols Chris Brown and D’Angelo.

Gotobeat lets you go to all their live gigs for a fixed monthly subscription

Gotobeat wants to reimagine the live music experience and has launched its
new subscription service to give fans free access to all their gigs.

A subscription service for live gigs is not only possible but necessary, and this is what Gotobeat has been working on for the past four months. The London-based music tech startup aims to disrupt the experience of going to independent live music gigs, making it easier, more affordable and more accessible for all music lovers.

Gotobeat opens the door to all the live music gigs they organize, as well as to a curated list of
gigs organised by their partner-venues. The service is currently only available in London, and
already counts on the support of 6 of the city’s most well established independent live music
venues (including The Victoria, Fiddlers’ Elbow and Underbelly Hoxton), and 30+ of the best up
and coming artists on the scene.

To start, Gotobeat members will have free access to at least 10 gigs per month and can choose
to go to as many of them as they want. Details such as the date, line-up, and location are made available on the platform from between a month and a week before the gigs are scheduled to
take place, with new shows being announced on a weekly basis. As the subscription base grows
over the next couple of months, the Gotobeat team has pledged to double the number of
monthly gigs offered as well as to offer new locations and music genres.

How does it work:
1. Pick the gig. Fans sign in and browse a list of Gotobeat gigs happening near them,
filtering by time, location and genre. Short snippets of the artists’ latest music is on the
gig page, giving members an easy way to check out their music before the show.

2. Download the free ticket. After they have chosen their favorite gig(s), they follow a
simple process of requesting their “Free Member Ticket”, which is instantly and
conveniently sent to them by email.

3. Enjoy. That’s it. They are all set and ready to go to the venue to enjoy the gig.

“Everybody is into music, but not necessarily into live music. And the reason is simple: going to
a gig is just too complicated. Our mission is to make the process of going to see an artist play
much easier. We want to make live music on-demand and more convenient, whilst keeping the
quality of each gig as high as possible” says Max Busin, Founder and CEO of Gotobeat. “Our
objective is to be able to pay artists better, bring more people to venues and create value for the
entire live music ecosystem”.

Gotobeat is building up a community of music lovers. Through their gigs, they want to create the
opportunity for their members to meet new friends, discover new music and have fun enjoying
great up and coming artists performing.

To get access to Gotobeat and enjoy a first month of the service at £4.99/month, visit their
platform at https://www.gotobeat.com/

And if you are a venue or artist who wants to be an active part of the project, apply on their platform to perform or host a gig.

New Music Video: SIR – Akheim Allen

Following on from last year’s explosive reintroduction with ‘Wavs Dnt Die’ and ‘Memo’, which garnered support from BBC 1Xtra, Clash Magazine, Highsnobiety, Trench Magazine, and Spindle Magazine, among others, Edmonton rapper, songwriter and producer AKHEIM ALLEN, formerly known as the artist PW, is back with his brand new single titled ‘SIR’ and its accompanying music video, as premiered via The FADER – this is the first of two offerings to be released between now and the end of the year, leading up to a brand new EP in 2020.

Produced by O12, who has previously worked with the likes of Octavian, Stormzy, Ebenezer, Melii and Koder, and accompanied by a gripping music video, shot and directed by exciting newcomers B2 Creative, ‘SIR’ is a hard-hitting offering led by ominous synth keyboard arrangements and infectious wobbly drum patterns, over which AKHEIM ALLEN waxes lyrical on hustling back to back, and doing whatever is necessary to achieve your goals, while showcasing his captivating flow, writing skills and commanding presence, all traits that make him one to watch right now.

Possessing the lyricism and wordplay of Wretch 32, Avelino or Jay Prince, AKHEIM ALLEN comes championed by the likes of BBC Radio 1, The FADER, Complex, RWD Magazine, Capital Xtra, DAZED, GRM Daily, Link Up TV, and MTV Base, to mention a few. The Edmonton native is fast-emerging as one of the best rappers coming out of North London, while his skills as a producer (Wretch 32, Yxng Bane, WSTRN) makes him a definite cut above his peers.
