New Track: Hi Grade – Angel

Hot on the heels of a hugely successful 2016, which saw him bring his mesmerizing vocals and must-see stage performance to sold-out headline shows at London’s Bush Hall over two nights and a date at Birmingham Academy 3 plus gigs at Wireless and V Festivals and the release of his ‘HER’ EP, which has been streamed over 2 million times globally, the dynamic UK R&B singer-songwriter ANGEL is back with his brand new track ‘Hi Grade’, the first release from his forthcoming project (out this spring on Island Records).

Written and produced by the newcomer and a nod to his own musical upbringing, having a father who played around the world with legendary reggae artists such as Bob Marley, Misty in Roots, Dennis Brown and his own band Zabandis, ‘Hi Grade’ mixes reggae and R&B vibes with Angel’s stellar vocals to create a stunning, fresh sound that fans old and new will find impossible to get out of their heads or off their stereos.

The track follows the massively popular ‘HER’ EP which featured the Harmony Samuels produced ‘Fvxk With You’ that saw west London meeting America’s ‘dirty south’, delivered courtesy of an explosive 16 bars from Atlanta, Georgia’s Rich Homie Quan and made a huge splash across both sides of the Atlantic. The forthcoming project will see Angel building on the waves he created last year, whilst continuing to showcase his incredible songwriting ability and flair for hypnotic hooks and earworm melodies.

So here’s your chance to get some insight into the upcoming project; listen to ‘Hi-Grade.’

New Track: Monster – Shaefri

Following the releases of ‘Pixelate’ (video to single stole NEW LEASE MUSIC’s Video of the Week title for two consecutive weeks) and ‘Rabbit Hole’ (was recently named Song of the Week by NEW LEASE MUSIC), SHAEFRI returns with her third single, entitled ‘Monster’ ahead of her forthcoming debut EP.

The three-and-a-half minute emotive offering is about resisting the weaknesses and deals with the ongoing struggle of the internal self, all over a bed of steadily building synths and beats.

Speaking of the song SHAEFRI explains “I wrote Monster at a time when I was in a bit of a dark place, and I found it to be a useful way of helping me accept that I had this ‘creature’ within me, that likes to self-destruct, but to try to resist it whilst learning to live alongside it – we all have our demons, but they help to make us who we are.”

After the success of her previous releases, the London-based electro-pop singer has seen an influx of support from Clash, C-Heads, and Hattie Pearson at Radio X, whilst her unique brand of haunting vocals and minimalistic beats have seen her perform at venues across London, such as The Borderline and Bush Hall.

On 6th April,  SHAEFRI will mark the release of the debut EP ‘Cracks’ by playing live at The Notting Hill Arts Club, alongside her producer J Harvey Jones and supported by Tay Salem…so if you’re in area, stop by and see her perform.

After stealing the top spot on NEW LEASE MUSIC’s Top Ten Music Video of 2016 list with previous effort, ‘Pixelate’, London-based electronic-pop artist SHAEFRI returns with second single ‘Rabbit Hole’ from her forthcoming EP ‘Pixelate’.

While ‘Pixelate’ explored a dysfunctional relationship, ‘Rabbit Hole’ deals with the agony of yearning for love. SHAEFRI paints a desperate character though her pained, heartfelt lyrics imploring the object of her affection to love her.

Born and raised in London with a mixed Irish-Egyptian heritage, SHAEFRI spent years honing her talents and developing her unique brand of haunting vocals and minimalistic beats amidst the London scene. Having performing at venues such as Notting Hill Arts Club and The Borderline alongside famous names including Babyshambles and Craigie Dodds (producer for Gorillaz, Amy Winehouse and Eliza Doolittle), the electronic-pop singer knows what it takes to pull her listeners in with mesmerising vocal hooks and warm, pulsing pads.
