Jessica Wilde Keeps The Momentum Going With Single, ‘L.A. Boy’

London’s Jessica Wilde is proving one of the UK’s hottest new talents right now, with a string of sizzling singles that have lit up BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music and gained serious press praise from the likes of Complex, Clash, The Independent and many more. Her eager Instagram following has also been expanding rapidly and lapping up Wilde’s regular ‘P*ssy PWR’ playlists and IG Live series, with which she showcases her favourite female artists as her comedic alter-ego; ‘Ya gurl Charlene’.

Wilde’s style ranges from chilled and thoughtful spoken word gems to bouncy in-your-face bangers that are woven with her gritty real-life experiences and poetic observations. The combination of her candid hazy diary entry interludes and huge soaring pop-soul choruses packs a real and lasting musical punch.

Her new cut ‘LA Boy’ has a glittering laid back trip-hop style. With the repeating refrain ‘Back To LA’ washing over again and again, the track feels like a dreamy beach day sipping cocktails but laced with the darker undertones of break-up pain. A fleeting romantic encounter, when the dream is over Jessica’s ‘LA Boy’ is gone and she’s left wondering. And likewise, when the track winds up, Jessica leaves us wanting more.

‘LA Boy’ is the next single to be taken from Jessica Wilde’s forthcoming album which charts her journey from addiction and toxic relationships to self-empowerment and living sober. Like previous single from the album, it’s a snapshot of a moment of realization which helped her move forward with this transformation. Wilde’s pink wigged, biro smoking, pssy powered alter ego ‘Ya gurl Charlene’ will be making her debut appearance and hosting the evening. From what started as a ‘PssY PWR’ Spotify playlist of all Wilde’s fave female artists and fronted by Charlene, has expanded into an Instagram live series where Charlene interviews her fave female artists, a ‘P*ssY PWR’ merch line drop, in collaboration with FAME Magazine, and now Charlene hosting a real life live show featuring Wilde herself and some of the most exciting female acts coming up on the scene.

Song of the Day: Free spirit Freestyle/Park Up (BTS) – RizzyB

East London’s emerging rapper RIZZYB returns, following on from the success of his previous release ‘Weh Ya Deh’ with his latest single ‘Park Up’. Produced by Jamaican born music producer Wizical, ‘Park Up’ is as infectious as ever with Rizzy bringing us through from Summer to Autumn with ease.

Featuring his signature smooth style and presence, the track is a fusion of rap and melodic vocals, flaunting Rizzy’s innate ability to captivate his listeners. The perfect blend of both mellow R&B and Dancehall, Rizzy effortlessly delivers yet another weighted offering.

Instead of producing an official music video, Rizzy gathered a team of creatives to contribute their natural gifts through an engaging freestyle video fused together with a candid ‘behind the scenes’ montage. ‘Anatural’, a term that Rizzy coined himself, is a core philosophy in not just his musical approach, but also in his approach to life.

Rizzy wrote and performed ‘Free Spirit Freestyle’, showcasing his lyrical ability and captivating artist presence, and enlisted photographer Keanu Reeves, director Tan Wright and model DKabs to come together and capture press shots for the artwork of the single. This unique merging of each persons individual talents allowed a uniquely authentic product to be born.

Song of the Day: Fallin’ – Cheryll

After I was introduced to her single, ‘Fess Up’, South London’s singer/songwriter CHERYLL has been firmly on my radar, because she is to keeping old good R&B alive – and I must say, this newcomer does it REALLY well.

Her latest single, ‘Fallin’, chronicles her feelings for her love interest. Producer D’wante Navire puts a modern spin on 90s R&B on the single, by injecting a deep flirtatious bassline.

Watch Sipprell’s video For R&B Single, ‘More Than We Are’

London singer, songwriter, vocal and string arranger & violinist – SIPPRELL has released her first single of 2021, ‘More Than We Are’.

‘More The We Are’ is the follow up to Sipprell’s 2020 EP release Bad History which received critical acclaim from the likes of Complex UK, Jamz Supernova on BBC Radio 1Xtra, foundation fm, Amazing Radio & more.

Speaking on the release, Sipprell says “More Than We Are was created during lockdown with producer Solomon Fox. The song is about fear of vulnerability and the games people play to protect themselves.”

Aside from her own solo material, Sipprell also boasts writing cuts and vocal arrangements on Nao’s latest album, ‘And Then Life Was Beautiful’, as well as performing violin and providing backing vocals for Ed Sheeran at BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend earlier this year. Fast becoming a tastemaker’s tastemaker – Sipprell’s fans include Rosie Lowe and Barney Artist to name a few.

Songstress Kemi Sulola Releases Infectious R&B Track, ‘If’

Up and coming British R&B-soul artist, singer, and songwriter KEMI SULOLA is back with a glorious new single titled ‘IF’ as she continues to tease towards her anticipated new projects such as Room 3 coming next year. ‘IF’, which is produced by Brighton musician, DJ and producer El Train, who has worked with Pip Millet, Barney The Artist, IYAMAH and Jerome Thomas, among others, sees Kemi Sulola delivering an infectious UK R&B masterclass with catchy pop sensibilities and honest relatable songwriting, which also pays homage to the golden era of 90’s R&B with its lush melodies and vocal harmonies.

Speaking about the inspiration behind her new single ‘IF’, Kemi Sulola says, “The song is about a lady who is usually very sure of herself except for when it comes to love. To me, ‘IF’ is a song that speaks for people who may feel insecure about their lover or ultimately themselves. It questions if the one we need to be there for us in our hardest times would really be there. I suppose it was written in reflection of a time when I was in need and wondered the same. Essentially without saying the word, ‘IF’ inspires me to think about love and what the true meaning of it is”.

In the middle of a lengthy battle with Neurosarcoidosis that has seen her in and out of hospital for years, Kemi Sulola released ‘Raindrops’ at the start of 2020 to rave reviews from the likes of GUAP Magazine, SoulTracks and Verve Radio, after which, she also opened for R&B legend Teedra Moses at the renowned jazz club Hideaway. Bolstered by pop icon Janet Jackson sharing her music on Instagram and imploring her to keep singing, Kemi then followed up with the protest song ‘Justice’ in support of the Black Lives Matter movement and to raise money for the Black Learning Achievement and Mental Health Charity (BLAM UK), before closing out the year with the undeniable ‘New Form’ that was championed by DJ Target at BBC 1Xtra.
