Song of the Day: Better Now – Lara

Presenting LARA, a 19-year-old Australian-based keys player, singer/songwriter and producer into today’s hot spot, with her soothing self written alt-pop single, ‘Better Now’.

Classically trained on the piano since the age of eight, Lara has since diversified into R&B/soul, funk, disco, contemporary and electronic music. For the last two years, she has studied music on scholarship with Berklee College of Music in Boston and ventured out on the scene with her debut album ‘Bored Games’, released in late 2019.

2020 saw German-born Lara releasing singles, ‘Wall’ , ‘Circles’ and ‘Better Now’, with an album to follow shortly. ‘Better Now’ was chosen as the blog’s Song of the Day for its serene feather light electropop backdrop, providing the way for the guitar riffs, giving off a 70s inspired soulful rock vibe with harmonic vocals that’s reminiscent of 70’s Stevie Hicks (of Fleetwood Mac)

Song of the Day: Younger Self – Caitlin Min Fa

Making her presence known on Melbourne’s pop scene, CAITLIN MIN FA drops her debut single ‘Younger Self’. Co-written with Rob Amoruso and Alice Blake, ‘Younger Self’ is an infectious dynamic track, reminding all of us to let go of imperfections and embrace life’s moments more – a message she would tell her younger self.

“It’s so easy to hold yourself back because of insecurities or fear, but if you don’t work through that fear, you’re going to miss out on some pretty great things,” Caitlin explains. “If you give yourself a chance, you’d be surprised of what you’re actually capable of”.

Sheralyn May Shares Afterhours Joint ‘Baby You’

On the back of her pop ballad ‘Fool for You’, Melbourne’s R&B/pop singer-songwriter SHERALYN MAY circles right back for the self-written single ‘Baby You’, out now on download/streaming sites. The 21-year-old reflects on the emotions someone may have when falling in love, over a smooth fusion of R&B and pop.

Singing since the age of six years old, Sheralyn was a guest on the Foxtel’s Television Show ‘The Platform’, ‘Channel 7 Sunrise, and a Top 12 finalist in X Factor Australia 2014. The young songstress has also been a support act for heavyweights including IYAZ and T-Pain.

ThBenj Offers Hope During The COVID-19 Period Through Track, ‘Y’, Out Today

Hot out of the booth, singer, rapper, songwriter and producer THBENJI has dropped his third single for the year ‘Y’, a follow up to his most recent singles, ‘2020’ and ‘Reasöns’ which dropped earlier this year.

‘Y’ is an emotional & uplifting song which he hopes encourages people across the globe to notice and appreciate the simple things in life. With the spread of the COVID-19 virus he hopes the song will will bring some relief to the anxieties that a lot of people are feeling and encourage people to be there for each other.

Speaking of the release ThBenj says: “It is a time for each of us to set up, support each other, be kind and give to those in need”. We all play a part, we all have a responsibility”.

Born in Sardinia, ThBenj built his career performing and working with other industry professionals throughout Australia, Ibiza, The Netherlands, Sardinia and Italy.

After spending the last few years on his home island where he wrote and recorded his 2019 debut album ‘T.H.B.’ – which hit number one on Google Play for Hip Hop in Italy and number one on NEW LEASE MUSIC’s Top Ten Albums of 2019 list – he is back in Melbourne and has set up his studio with a focus on creating and releasing new music.
