Song of the Day: Love Is A Gamble – Sneakbo (ft. Kudz)

Brixton rapper SNEAKBO releases his first single of 2020, ‘Love Is A Gamble’ featuring Disturbing London’s Kida Kudz.

‘Love Is A Gamble’ is a perfect introduction of what’s to come from Sneakbo this year. Fusing rap, afrobeats and dancehall melodies, all which Sneakbo is known for innovating. He is recognised as one of the first UK artists to create this unique sound that has taken over the UK in a huge way.

Sneakbo as always flows effortless riding the beat with Kida Kudz bringing us his ‘jiggy’ vibes, both showing grown vibes to a track dedicated to the woman they love in their life.

Sneakbo has always been at the forefront of the UK rap scene, which has swept across the UK and internationally for nearly a decade now, with other artists incorporating his unique sound. His debut single ‘The Wave’ released in 2011 hit the UK charts, but more importantly the clubs and airwaves, where people embraced his name and music. Since then he has released numerous hit singles, EP’s and mixtapes.

Song of the Day: Paranoid – Kid Tana

Making moves on the underground over the last year, KID TANA has been building an impressive portfolio of music, catching the eye of major UK Rap platforms including Link Up TV and GRM Daily.

The rising West London star is full of promise as he heads into 2020 with his first joint of the year ‘Paranoid’. Effortlessly transitioning between flows with an exceptional flair for storytelling and lyricism, Kid Tana is in a space of discovery where all the UK greats have risen from over recent years.

Produced by Akamoshen, ‘Paranoid’ samples the haunting strings of R&B classic ’Tell Me’ from Bobby Valentino, bringing with it a soulful edge to the hard bars and chaos of Kid Tana’s cold street tales. The record beats with emotion and depth as Kid Tana really comes into his own with this drop and is clearly enjoying the fruits of his studio time and ongoing musical experience and knowledge.

Following on from his well-received drop ‘Buju Banton’ and tracks including ‘Billie Jean’ and the ‘Killin Dem Remix’ with Muckass, Kid Tana has also boxed off a string of freestyles for Link Up TV and Bl@ckbox, which have spawned a slew of comments that tipped him as “up next” and “one to watch”.

Song of the Day: It’s Alright – Mikano

Emerging French-Cameroonian hip hop artist MIKANO, latest cut, ‘It’s Alright’, is the second installment from his forthcoming mixtape, ‘Melting Balloons’, planned for release in Spring 2020, and is the follow up to the recently released pop-driven, Afrotrap single ‘Silhouette’, which saw support from the likes of Discobelle and Marie Claire.

The new single reveals a different side of the rapper, while ‘Silhouette’s’ introspective lyrics celebrated the female beauty in all its diversity, in Mikano’s own words: ‘It’s Alright’ is “a party song about hype girls in clubs looking for that star life. Even though what they’re doing can be frowned upon, who are we to judge? It’s alright, girl do you”.

The compelling visuals accompanying the single directed by Juliette Labrousse, the emerging directing talent expanding the narrative horizon of the new French music scene with unique music videos for Fang The Great, Dona and Noe’, explore the dark side of our human nature through metaphors.

With ‘It’s Alright’ and a debut mixtape on the way, Mikano is set to become one of France rising hip hop stars and on to watch closely in 2020. Check out the video for single below…

Song of the Day: Raw Smoothie – MH The Verb

2020 is the year that MH THE VERB intends to live a better life. The rapper, producer, DJ, and activist seeks to inspire others to follow suit in the music video for his latest single ‘Raw Smoothie’, shot at LaMaison (a community art & living space) in East Oakland, where MH participated in an artist residency in the summer of 2019.

“I left my boring corporate job on the day I wrote this song… That morning when I quit, I left and got a green smoothie with raw vegetables. It was almost like a metaphor for me trying to live better. This whole album was written as an affirmation for me to change habits and become the best version of myself in 2020. Raw Smoothie signifies a fresh start, a cleanse, a focus on being a better me.” – MH The Verb.

Produced by Buscrates 16 Bit Ensemble, ‘Raw Smoothie’ is from MH’s forthcoming album, ‘Space Ninja’. Due out February 28 via ArtHouse95/FourFingerDistro, the album will serve as the third installment in the Afronaut saga, a conceptual multimedia series based on a Black sci-fi heroine from the future who travels back in time to inspire the world.
