Life ebbs and flows with various degrees of difficulty and hardship. Through much of his extreme lows in life, SUPREME attributes much of his resilience to the love from his friends and family. This uplifting theme of love is explored throughout his introspective debut EP Love Jones, released on all digital streaming platforms on last Monday (21st June).
Now the Hip-Hop newcomer revels with loved ones in his self-directed music video for the project’s lead single ‘Thug Thizzle’. Featuring a brief cameo appearance from his father Ghostface Killah (who’s also heard throughout the Love Jones EP), much of the video is shot in the streets of Supreme’s native Staten Island’s Wu-Tang Clan District. The video serves as the first of seven parts to Supreme’s short film, ‘Love Jones’.
North London’s R&B singer/songwriter CILLA RAIE returns with a brand new music video for her sultry romantic single ‘Open For Love’ featuring US starlet Tiffany Evans (best known for her singles Promise Ring ft Ciara and Texting My Ex ft T-Pain).
The music video follows a journey of discovery and features a replica of Cilla herself, playing the role and replacing Tiffany Evans (based in the US). Open for love is an awakening, being ready to embark on a new romantic journey after healing from previous toxic relationships. The collaboration signifies a new moment for R&B, with this UK to US female R&B collaboration.
Vancouver musician BUKOLA‘s highly anticipated debut EP, ‘The Chronicles Of A Teenage Mind’ is out today on all digital streaming platforms. And to celebrate, she’s also releasing a brand new single and video, ‘Falling Deeper’.
‘Falling Deeper’ is the third single from Bukola’s new EP. The sweet laid back love song hits on that classic R&B sweet spot, while drawing inspiration from one of Bukola’s favourite artists.
“‘Falling Deeper’ is one of my favourites off the EP because it has a really sweet classic R&B vibe to it,” says Bukola. “It also draws sonic inspirations from Daniel Caesar who is one of my favourite artists. The music video for the song was also so much fun to shoot as it was a one-take video. It’s set in a beautiful jazz club and features dancing and choreography from Zavien Garrett and guitar playing from Anthony Anderson.”
Deeply influenced by artists such as India.Arie, Daniel Caesar and H.E.R., Bukola worked with Grammy Award-winning producer, Chin Injeti, and Juno Award-winning producer Ben Kaplan on her debut EP ‘The Chronicles Of A Teenage Mind’. Still a teenager at 19 years old, she came up with the concept and title for the EP when she was in grade 8.
“I never thought I would ever get to create my own EP, but I knew that if I did, I wanted it to be about my experiences as a teen,” says Bukola. “I started recording and working on the project full-on when I was in grade 11 and I even got some help from 2 of my friends when I wrote the intro and outro bits for the EP.”
The Chronicles Of A Teenage Mind is available now on Spotify, Apple Music/iTunes, and other digital retailers and streaming services worldwide. Have a listen to ‘Falling Deeper’ below…
Hailing from Ottawa, Canada BANGGZ‘s official video for single ‘Open Up’ paints a picture of a rather noxious relationship between a love interest and the man himself.
The three-minute production features the 22-year-old artist going on with his daily activities, ignoring his beau’s calls – but he eventually text her as though she had been on his mind throughout the day – ouch! With the vivid storytelling and descriptive video scenes, this piece is Banggz’s attempt to portray how toxicity affects relationships.
‘Open Up’ follows his hip-hop track ’21’, which, like his latest offering, is inspired by his life experiences. Being Nigerian, Banggz has also produced and released afrobeat influenced singles including ‘Jostice’ and ‘Yawa’.
Why not check out the video for ‘Open Up’, directed by Tani Olorunyomi under Banggz’s production company ‘Twelve07’.
Following the release of his highly-anticipated fifth studio album GRACE (via TheCAPMusic) and a run of dynamic singles including ‘Everytime’ featuring Kranium, his collaboration with Afrobeats heavyweights Tiwa Savage and Wizkid on ‘Dis Love’ and the remix for his hit single ‘Sere’ ft Fireboy DML with additional vocals from the triple-Grammy Award nominated US alt-R&B singer, rapper and songwriter 6lack, the award winning DJ, producer and songwriter SPINALL has returned with the video for his latest single ‘Jabole’ ft Oxlade and Ycee.
“Ma Je Ko Jabole” is a street slang in Yoruba that is meant to encourage women to keep their swag on at all times. Directed by Dalia Dias, the video sees Spinall, Oxlade and Ycee accompanied by an array of beautiful and powerful women exuding their own unique style and confidence.
Spinall shares: “I was working on this sound when Oxlade walked into the studio and he fell in love with it and laid the hook. I rang the coolest guy ever – Ycee who went on to lace the record with his slick bars.”
Currently riding the massive waves he has been creating with GRACE, released in December, amassing over 100 million streams across all platforms and earning widespread acclaim from a slew of outlets with Clash describing it as a ‘symbolic record in more ways than one’, he continues to push the scene forward to the world with innovative concepts and collaborative efforts and with even more new visuals and music to come throughout the year, Spinall is set to continue his journey as one of music’s brightest stars in 2021 and for many more years to come.
