Listen To Eleanor’s New Single, ‘Waste My Time.’

Canadian newcomer ELEANOR‘s new single ‘Waste My Time’, was inspired by a friendship that was tiptoeing into a relationship. With the guitar plucks echoing into a mesmeric backdrop and Eleanor harmonic vocals, the cheeky and flirtatious single has an unexpected lyrical reference in the chorus to “Kiss The Girl” from Disney’s The Little Mermaid.

‘Waste My Time’ has helped the Ontario-based singer/songwriter to recognise that not every song she writes has to be deep and pensive, “I can write things that feel light,” Eleanor says.

‘Waste My Time’ follows her 2022 debut single ‘Make Sense’ – which claimed the blog’s Song of the Week title back in December – and forms part of her upcoming EP, ‘A Late Bloom’. Check out the single below…

Chloe Star Shares Single, ‘Straight Girls’ + Video

Persian-Native American pop act CHLOE STAR returns with her new single and video, ‘Straight Girls,’ out on all streaming platforms today.

Following her empowering debut release ‘Element,’ Chloe’s second single, ‘Straight Girls,’ is a high energy anthem packed with infectious trap-inspired beats and electro-pop vocals. “The song is about exploring my own sexuality,” says Chloe “I don’t know what it is, but I always find myself dating quote on quote straight girls.” The pairing music video, which was directed by Carlos “Bawwse” (Kali Uchis, Justin Bieber, Emotional Oranges) and Emilio Sanchez (Becky G, 21 Savage), is a sexy and fun-filled visual that further expands the Chloe Star universe.

Chloe Star is an indigenous singer, songwriter, visual artist and tribal advocate. Growing up she split her time between Los Angeles and her family’s reservation in San Bernardino. With a childhood that was chaotic and often unstable, she found solace in journaling and writing poetry. She taught herself to play piano and guitar and soon started transforming her prose into lyrics.

After spending the past few years finding and cultivating her sound, Chloe is now ready to make her introduction to the world. ‘Element’ and ‘Straight Girls’ will be included on her forthcoming EP due out later this year. Check out Chloe’s new single below…

Song of the Day: Sweet Maybe – D’Ambrosia

D’AMBROSIA‘s upbeat single ‘Sweet Maybe, ‘ chronicles love in limbo.

“‘Sweet Maybe’ is meant to convey the experience of a reluctance to commit, in our current culture of dating apps, casual hook-ups and on-again off-again relationships,” said vocalist Kim D’Ambrogi (she/her). “This song is from the perspective of the recipient of that ‘sweet maybe,’ with the tenuous balance between the hope and frustration of what that word represents. It can be enough to keep us holding on but not enough to feel fulfilled.”

Sporting a rocky edge with a tongue-and-cheek, yet vulnerable narrative, the single alludes to the experience of floating between a ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ by that fateful little hook of a word, ‘Maybe.’ Have a listen to ‘Sweet Maybe’ below…

Song of the Day: Cold – Danelle Sandoval

Following her breakout debut version of ‘Tuesday’ with ILoveMakonnen ft. Drake, Filipino-American R&B/pop songstress DANELLE SANDOVAL circles back and shares single ‘Cold’ which is her most vulnerable to date.

She confides, “I’ve always been curious about how relationships can just flip a switch and how intimacy can be so difficult for everyone, when most of us just wanna feel close to each other. I’ve definitely been on both sides of a relationship where I was either the one being cold or my partner was. This song represents the latter.”

Cold entices with seductive soul-drenched vocals, mood enhancing R&B landscapes, and intimate reflections of love and loss.

After posting a YouTube cover of ‘Tuesday’ by ILoveMakonnen ft. Drake, the song was remixed and went on to receive platinum awards worldwide while reaching the number one spot in over 70 countries on iTunes and Shazam. The viral hit has amassed over one billion streams online. Following the global success of ‘Tuesday’ Danelle has performed on national television in Germany, has written for other artists including Paris Hilton, and has focused on releasing original music.

With more music to be released in 2023, Danelle has refined her sound to represent the places and genres that have inspired her and her creativity the most, from Toronto’s out-of-the-box production and NYC’s jazz influences to LA’s R&B/pop scene. Have a listen to ‘Cold’ below…

Listen To K1’s Posthumous Mixtape, ‘Love Never Dies’

The team behind the late K1 released his posthumous 11-track mixtape, ‘Love Never Dies’, with a portion of the proceeds going to two charities selected by his family, Teenage Cancer Trust and Treetops Hospice. Under the direction of K1 before he lost his battle with the illness, the mixtape is a tribute to him, his hard work, and his legacy that will live on. Losing their loved one so young has been incredibly difficult for his family and friends to process but they will do everything they can to help leave a lasting mark on a scene that K1 loved. ‘Love Never Dies’ includes some familiar fan favourites such as ‘Toxic Veins’ and ‘Tomorrow’ featuring KKEDA.

Born and raised in the East Midlands, K1 made a massive impact since his second single, ‘Broken Hearted Crook’ went viral and firmly put him on the map within the UK’s thriving Rap scene. Coming from outside of the capital fuelled his drive and pushed him to work harder and fight for his place, not only for himself but for Derby. There was so much more than meets the eye with this lyricist, he didn’t want to make one specific style, and he aimed to become one of the most versatile Rappers in the
scene, and he did exactly that. K1 cited Eminem, Juice Wrld, XXXTENTACION, Little Tjay and Drake as his biggest influences as an artist.

Some of his career highlights included performing at Wireless Festival, Link Up TV’s HB, Mixtape Madness ‘Cold Room’, and GRM One Mic. K1 had already completed his debut album, which he had planned to drop this year. The whole team behind him are committed to continuing to set out his dream, just as he had intended. Please continue to support K1 and his music – ‘Love Never Dies’ –
