Song of the Day: 25 Miles From Vegas – The Tribe Of Good

’25 Miles From Vegas’ is the latest single from Soul/Disco supergroup – THE TRIBE OF GOOD.

THE TRIBE OF GOOD are the secret weapons behind your favourite chart hits. Imagine a present-day version of LA’s Wrecking Crew, if they hung out in Ronnie Scott’s, performed live with Dizzee Rascal and knew their way around a synthesiser. These are the talented artists you’ve heard performing with, or on records by artists as diverse and influential as Stormzy, M.I.A., The xx, MNEK, and Kanye West.

A sprawling supergroup that combines vintage soul and disco with modern production techniques, THE TRIBE OF GOOD are steered by Grammy-nominated producer Hal Ritson (Chemical Brothers, Katy Perry, Duke Dumont, High Contrast). With producers Michele Balduzzi (Phonat – OWSLA), Rich ‘Fiasco’ Adlam (Nas, Cee Lo, Taylor Swift) and Thomas Gandey (Southern Fried, Suara) in tow—alongside a cast of musicians from Basement Jaxx singer Vula Malinga and Jamiroquai guitarist Rob Harris, to Ritson’s long-time drummer Alex Reeves—the group are creating retro-futurist fireworks to light up the pop horizon.

’25 Miles From Vegas’ features the vocals from Daniel Pearce, Elroy ‘Spoonface’ Powell, James Anderson & Vula Malinga (Basement Jaxx), having been produced by core members Rich ‘Fiasco’ Adlam & Hal Ritson. The single continues the groups efforts in the bid to lift listeners amidst times of political uncertainty, yet open their eyes to what is going on in the world.

’25 Miles From Vegas’ will appear on their forthcoming debut album which is due for release on Ultra Records later this year…check it out below…

Song of the Day: Hey Hey Hey – Tamaraebi

Nigerian-born singer-songwriter TAMARAEBI is slowly shaping up to be tomorrow’s torchbearer within the realm of Soul and RnB music, elevating the genres with his own inimitable iterations. Having recently signed a publishing deal with Sony/ATV after being scouted and approached by Tinie Tempah on Instagram. One to never stop, TAMARAEBI is back with single ‘Hey Hey Hey’.

With a strong promise of longevity, TAMARAEBI is an alluring and enigmatic master of his craft, what sets him apart from his contemporary counterparts is an instantly identifiable sonic distinctiveness.

Being exposed to a plethora of diverse countries, cultures, and people at such a young age was an experience that transformed TAMARAEBI into a self-proclaimed social chameleon, which equipped him with the ability to easily adjust to different environments.

The skilled wordsmith and storyteller states it’s the melody that is always at the heart of each of his songs, very much involved in the production process, he is skilled at the piano and guitar. Produced by Greatness Jones, his latest single ‘Hey Hey Hey’ has  rich sultry tones complimenting the dulcet, jazzy production, likened to that of The Weeknd, TAMARAEBI gives off a no holds barred account of showing no love. The one-to-watch is on the run up to releasing his debut EP ‘Heavens Gate’ featuring ‘Innocence’ and recently released ‘Heavens Gate’ singles.

Keltoum delivers a superb jazzy soul jam, ‘Stop To Play’.

Taken from her debut eponymous EP, ‘Stop To Play’ is the latest single to be released from KELTOUM. The fast-emerging artist from France is already being compared to leaders in her field like Sade, Jill Scott and Erykah Badu as her neo-soul and pop influences caress from all sides. An original composer and player KELTOUM also brings to the table a unique French sensibility which demonstrates the sort of warmth felt by Janet Jackson or perhaps Alicia Keys at their most impassioned. The list of greats she could be compared to could go on but KELTOUM herself has struck her own blend of jazz and smoky vocal which is hard not to melt away to.

KELTOUM has already picked up fans across the board including some distinguished influencers like Gilles Peterson among others at Jazz FM and beyond. Her live show is also on another level as the energy of her trio seem to get the best of her tantalizing subtle soul voice bringing emotion to all who see her play, such as those who attended Gilles’ Worldwide festival in Sète last year where she completely bowled over the crowd.

Future Soul Outfit Shookrah shares ‘Notions’ Video

Senita Appiakorang (lead vocals), Emmet O’Riabhaigh (drums), Daniel Coughlan (guitar), Diarmait Mac Carthaigh (keyboard) and Brian Dunlea (bass guitar) – aka Irish future-soul act SHOOKRAH – have shared the video for their new single ‘Notions’, directed by band member Emmet O’Riabhaigh.

Forming part of their upcoming self-titled album, set to drop on 25 October, the track itself is centered around the time we waste staying in dysfunctional relationships. “It’s a recognition of faults committed to the other and yourself in seeking out traits other than those presented to you, which disqualifies the question of who was right or wrong and bares the reality of how hollow we become when we want something so bad that a tarnished version of it will do” says Senita. Fittingly the video features Senita sitting alongside herself in a plush nightclub setting, both “characters” cathartically exploring these emotions through the track.

She explains further: “The song is a reflection and address to a past lover. It felt appropriate to play my double, and kind of centre the sentiment of the song on the delusions we all create for ourselves in fractured relationships, that allow us to prolong its dysfunction.”

Speaking of his production, Emmet O’Riabhaigh says: “We wanted to shoot something really simple and still with nice moody lighting so we decided to go with two Senitas in what looks like a lovers’ tiff. We shot it over the course of a day in the Bodega bar in Cork, and had Senita’s sister Yesunia to stand in for some of the shots, with the whole band helping out on the set.”

Named Best Act of 2017 and 50 People to Watch in 2018 by The Irish Times, the five-piece have seen substantial press support from the likes of The Irish Examiner, AFROPUNK, Wonderland Magazine, Clash Magazine, Music Week, District Magazine, Nialler9 and Made in Shoreditch Magazine. They’ve also received airplay from BBC’s Radio Ulster, and their track ‘Gerascophobia’ was named BBC Ulster’s Across The Line track of the day.

Racking up nearly 300K streams on digital platforms, they shared the stage with Billy Ocean on his Irish tour and have played Body & Soul Festival, Electric Picnic, Wigwam, Quarter Block Party, Other Voices Music Trail, and Knockanstockan Festival.
