New Track: 6am – Allana Verde

North-West Londoner ALLANA VERDE reveals an addictive dose of R&B in the form of new single ‘6am’, collaborating with witty wordsmith Mikill Pane to craft a rich, soulful tapestry.

The passionate number is laden with fresh synths, enveloping Allana’s multi-layered vocals with lush 90s pop and flashes of sprawling electronica.

‘6am’ is the conclusion of a 4-track EP that goes on a journey of an all-nighter that starts past midnight. Her previous releases have garnered extensive online support from i-D, Complex and USA Today, as well as airplay from Trevor Nelson on BBC 1Xtra. Her dreamy electronic ballads and soulful R&B numbers have seen her team up with a number of influential musicians, including DaVinChe, Mercston and Ghetts.

Allana will be joining Hackney MC Paigey Cakey and Birmingham’s rising rapper Lady Sanity for Urban Development’s biggest ever showcase at The Great Escape this May. In a recent feature with Music Week, the organisation opened an important conversation regarding British grassroots culture, by continuing to champion urban talent and offering opportunities to underprivileged BAME youth throughout the country.

ALLANA VERDE is a little woman with a lot of soul, and the imminent release of her third EP conveys a performer who’s on an enviable artistic trajectory…check out her most fierce work to date…

EP Review: Broken Record – Allana Verde

Since the release of her 2016 EP, ‘Neo Nostalgia’, ALLANA VERDE has been on a steady rise, gaining support from the likes of Trevor Nelson, DJ Target, Complex and i-D. Continuing the climb, the London R&B singer unveiled her brand new EP entitled ‘Broken Records’ earlier this month.

An afterhours R&B (say, from the 90s era) receives a futuristic makeover from the bold and vibrant presence of electropop overtones. Together with Verde’s quirky yet somewhat sultry vocals, this mini collection brings on a real enticing and spine-tingling experience.

Over the years, I’ve seen many artists break out in a cold, nervous sweat when it comes to combining unlikely genres – but this newcomer burst onto the scene and pulled it off effortlessly with such Sade-esque style and grace. This one too good to pass up; have a listen.

Must Listen: Broken Records, I Know Better Now.

VANESSA WHITE  receives an attention-grabbing treatment of her latest R&B/soul single, Low Key from SRNO.

Coming from her second upcoming solo EP, Second Chapter, the original version has generated high praises from major taste makers including Complex UK, The Line of Best Fit and Wonderland Magazine as well as receiving airplay on Trevor Nelson’s BBC 1Xtra Show – and over 100,000 listens on SoundCloud.

However the seriously sensual, after hours makeover from Amsterdam producer SRNO has definitely caught the attention of NEW LEASE MUSIC, making it a very well-deserved dish of the day – hope you guys  agree!

It’s time to listen for yourself.

Dwaine Hayden

DWAINE HAYDEN gives a silky smooth R&B treatment to Shawn Mendes hit Stitches.

Coming from a large musical family, Dwaine has adopted powerhouse vocals that’s reminiscent of the 80s with a rich soulful tone that draws you into the modern-day.

At a young age he perform at the Earls Court Stadium, supporting Jay-Z and Beyoncé as part of a collective of upcoming artists. The newcomer also performed in an intimate setting for Prince Charles, Jay-Z, Rev Run, Russell Simmons and Trevor Nelson.

He went on to become lead vocalist for The Trinity Band, reaching the semi –finals on Must be the Music (sky1) and winning live and unsigned 2011 after the group split up. More recently, Dwaine appeared on The Voice UK 2016 with Paloma Faith  as his mentor.
