Jessica Wilde’s Track ‘Daylight’ Receives Remix Treatment From Murder He Wrote, Ren Phillips & YINGYANG

Daylight’ is the Fourth single from JESSICA WILDE’s concept album, which is a truly unique project with each song like a diary entry, taking you on a journey from addiction, toxic relationships to self-love and living sober. With ‘Daylight’ Wilde has once again collaborated with producers Eljay and Grammy award winner Kiris Houston (The Disciples, Little Mix). ‘Daylight’ has a classic soul sound, with rich textured backing vocals reminiscent of a 60’s golden era but with an unexpected twist as Wilde introduces her fresh statement London rap flow.

The nu-soul banger gained the support of Radio 1’s Future Artists with Jack Saunders this month, plus a video premiere with Complex UK. To celebrate, Jessica has dropped a stellar remix package for the single with incredible Murder He Wrote & Ren Phillips and YingYang reworks of the track. Tom Ravenscroft has already given the Murder He Wrote remix a spin on BBC 6 Music, so it’s safe to say things are buzzing for Jessica Wilde right now!

Murder He Wrote has amassed over half a million streams with regular national radio love for his work, whilst Ren Phillips and Ying Yang have put out releases on Sola, Cr2 with support from Jamie Jones, Joel Corry and SKT. Both the remixes are absolute choons, taking ‘Daylight’ in amazing new directions and adding more heat to Jessica Wilde’s 2021, which has seen her gain major press & radio praise across the board!

OUT TODAY: Listen To Afrofusion Artist Kay Slice’s Single, Breeze

After closing out his ‘Take A Slice’ series, which has amassed over 160K Spotify streams, Rotterdam rapper, singer and producer KAY SLICE is working on his highly anticipated solo debut album, which is due for release in January 2022. This summer, he begins to tease out the record with its first single titled ‘BREEZE’.

Written by Kay Slice and produced by Slice and his long-time collaborator Bora, who also provides live guitar and bass arrangements, along with Willem T Hart on keys, Peter Somuah on percussion drums and Charmain Charlemagne on backing vocals, ‘Breeze’ is a soulful and infectious rap fusion tribute to this mother, and the people in our lives that have nurtured us and helped us grow, such as our parents and family, with Kay Slice vowing to return the favour. According to the Dutch Ghanaian native, “the people who provided for me mean the world to me”.

Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘Breeze’ and how the track came together, Kay Slice says, “the song came to me during my recent stay in Ghana. It was like Mama Ghana was talking to me. I came up with the melody and bassline, and from there, it was just a matter of perfecting it with Bora and the band. The song is about giving tribute and honour to our providers, to the people that nurtured and helped us become who we are today. It’s also about that urge I and a lot of people around me have to return the favour and provide for the people that provided for us”.

The accompanying music video for ‘Breeze’ speaks directly to this inspiration and desire that Kay Slice expresses. Shot in Aburi Botanical Gardens in Ghana and directed by burgeoning Accra-based cinematographer Edward Pappoe, the visuals for ‘Breeze’ beautifully capture the relationship and connection between a mother and her young son, with the timeless century-old botanical garden providing the perfectly calm, peaceful and vibrant backdrop to bring the track and its message further to life, which Kay Slice describes as “the perfect fit for this song”.

Emerging as an exciting and fast-rising new artist in the Netherlands for his glorious hip-hop and afrobeats fusion, Kay Slice has already performed on the biggest Dutch TV entertainment show De Wereld Draait Door, with the likes of 3VOOR12, VPRO Mundo and Red Bull Netherlands also singing his praises. He is now on a mission to spread his unique blend of hip-hop, soul, Ghanaian groove, afrobeats and highlife across Europe, Africa and the rest of the world. His music speaks to self-love, identity, finding yourself and connecting deeply with ones’ roots, and when it’s all said and done, Kay Slice wants to have left a rich impression on his generation.

Album Interview: Lightheaded III – Dizzy Rambunctious

DIZZY RAMBUNCTIOUS is one of the few producers featured on the blog over the years for his dramatic, attention-grabbing bangers. So when he dropped his latest project, ‘Lightheaded III, I had to hunt down this New Jersey beat master to find out how he comes up with such out-of-sight productions in the 12-track set.

NLM Hey, thank you for taking part in an interview with NEW LEASE MUSIC. How is 2021 treating you so far?

DR: Ummm 2021, is definitely something else but it’s definitely better than last year haha. I’m hanging in there for sure

NLM: You released your album, ‘Lightheaded III’ back in June. What is the public perception on the project so far?

DR: Yes, I released it back on June 25th. my fans were very excited when they found out that I was finally dropping the album after teasing it with multiple snippets, new listeners enjoyed it as well because last year I started twitch streaming during the start of the pandemic/lockdown, I stream playing video games and I would play my music in the background so that new viewers can hear it and follow up on my entire discography. Those people from the gaming community I created joined a live listening session I hosted for lightheaded III before it dropped on midnight on all streaming platforms and they had a great response to it.

NLM: How would you describe the album’s sound to potential fans?

DR: The sound of the album is definitely dark and very spacey, it will definitely uplift any emotion you’re feeling when you listen to this album from front to back, it’s like you’re entering into my mind if that makes sense haha

NLM: What inspired you to produce the album?

DR: So basically what inspired this album is of course when lightheaded II dropped back in 2018 it was about a heartbreak from a relationship. Lightheaded III is a follow up after me finally recovering from that heartbreak but then other life situations hit me. Job loss, friend’s cutting me off, and dealing with anxiety from the pandemic/lockdown. It’s been hard but I’m in a great position right now in life mentally such as being in a very healthy relationship and having a better circle of people who I can trust.

NLM: What is/are your favourite single(s) from the album and why

DR: I love this question! Definitely my favourite songs has to be “The Deep End” with my bros Free Samuda and Lil Bear because When I was making the beat for it, I was in the mood like “Don’t fuck with me, don’t make me go off the deep end” and I was very excited when I heard the final product, F.E.A.R as well because the title is the main message of the album. You face everything and rise.

NLM: What message would you like the listeners to take away from your album?

DR: No matter what you’re going through with life, it’s only temporary and you will overcome it.

NLM: If you had to feature one mainstream artist on the album, who would it be and why?

DR: interesting, I like this question. I usually would wanna feature artists that are not really too too mainstream but like people know them really well, but if you’re talking mainstream I would say Don Toliver because he would’ve made this album so much more spacier and his sound would’ve definitely fit so well with the album.

NLM: Do you have other project(s) for 2021?

DR: Yes I do actually, I’m currently working on the 5th instalment of “The Blu Tape” series, I’m hoping to get it out there before the year ends if not early 2022.

NLM: How can potential fans find you?

DR: You can find me on the block! Just kidding haha but you can find me on Twitter/Instagram @Im_DizzyR and “Dizzy Rambunctious” on all major streaming platforms.

NLM: Finally, any special shout outs to those involved in the production of ‘Lightheaded III’ ?

DR: I definitely would like to shoutout the features on the album. TRPLSVN, Free Samuda, Lil Bear, Donnie Durag, & Willy Gonza, without them this album wouldn’t have the sound and direction it has.
