Song of the Day: Quit While Were Ahead – Voxxen (ft. Lulu)

Following up on his single, ‘Salt’, which claimed the blog’s Song of the Week title last month, VOXXEN presents his latest, ‘Quit While Were Ahead’.

Unlike his previous effort, ‘Salt’, which possess bold uses of electro rock and indietronica, ‘Quit While Were Ahead’ is more of a minimalist affair, taking on feathery indietronica soundscapes.

Check out the accompanied video below, which features the Norwegian artist himself. Expect a string of singles from Voxxen plus an album release later this year.

Tonia Victoria Comes Through With New Single, ‘U Cute’ + Video

Featuring Yorkshire-based rapper KDZA, solo artist TONIA VICTORIA‘s brand new R&B gem, ‘U Cute’, could be described as a worthy anthem for female empowerment.

On the surface, the single boasts carefree and flirtatious tones along with Tonia first expressing her interest for her potential lover. Beyond the eye-catching exterior, the Huddersfield-born/South London-raised songstress then questions if her potential love interest has the integrity to be a life-long partner.

Out now on all download and streaming sites, ‘U Cute’ is Tonia’s first single in three years, after headlining in Sheffield’s Hallam Shower as well as performing at Tramlines and Soundwave festival in Croatia. During the three-year break, Tonia became a mum for the first time!

Song of the Day: Coll – The Keys

Taken from his anticipated EP, ‘Blue Magic 2’ – out now on all download and streaming sites – Norwich-based rapper/producer COLL‘s latest slick soulful number, ‘The Keys’,  touches on the topics of self-love and motivation in a witty, assured and intelligent manner.

“’The Keys’ is all about self-resilience, believing in yourself and making the right decisions in life to ensure happiness for yourself and your family”, explains COLL.

Born in Zimbabawe, COLL and his family moved to the UK when he was eight years old, where soon after, he became obsessed with the music of hip hop godfathers, The Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac, inspiring him to start his own musical journey. Since then, he’s released a plethora of well-received singles (including ‘Rockstar’ which is fast approaching 100,000 streams), performed at festivals such as Latitude & Sundown, and even set up his own label, True Music Records.

This Norwich-based imprint aims to offer a platform for local artists to kickstart their own careers. The label recently secured funding from the Arts Council England, and in collaboration with Pirate Studios, a studio and recording space based in Norwich, they’ve been able to provide free studio time to their roster as well as other local musicians.
