New Track: Surgery – REL

Hailing from LA, REL delivers a stunningly touching single entitled ‘Surgery’ which focuses on dysmorphia and eating disorders.

Describing her music as EVOCA-POP, the 23-year-old has received praises from major music tasters from her 2015 debut EP, ‘r.e.l’ and has generated over 2.1 million views on YouTube plus over one million streams on Spotify.

‘Surgery’ – an anthem for self-love and acceptance – is the first single from her three side visual album called ‘EVOCAPOP’. The latest offering is the third single on side A

Speaking of her latest project, REL said: “I’ve chosen to make a 3-side album to address each phase of healing as its own story and as part of a bigger story. I developed anorexia at a very young age (7) and struggled with it for many years. Side A tells the story of a first stage of healing – facing the problem, realizing you’ve been hurting yourself. Self compassion is the first step towards peace.”

Song of the Day: Letter to H.E.R. interlude (best part remix) – J French

 

Following the release of his OGB Remixes EP via the Bay Area’s electronic/bass label MalLabel Music, Oklahoma City’s rapper, producer, and multi-instrumentalist J FRENCH dropped a short video clip for his latest single entitled ‘Letter To H.E.R’.

’Letter To H.E.R’ is from J FRENCH‘s OGB 1.5 album, which is available from today. The album is a complete overhaul of the original OGB album (released via EMPIRE at the beginning of this year), with new original songs and remixes.

New Track: I Need You – Sakyi 4

 SAKYI 4 are back with their fourth official release ‘I Need You’.

For their latest offering, the quartet put a modern stamp on 90s-style after hours R&B, accompanied with a seamless soulful bass, which will undoubtedly strengthen their reputation as one of the most exciting R&B groups from the UK.

‘I Need You’ follows their 2017 R&B/Afrobeat fused single, ‘Simmer Down’ which received support from the likes of R&B Magazine, BRASH! Magazine and New Wave District. The music video for the ‘Simmer Down’ clocked up over 20,000 views, premiered via The Link Up TV.

Since appearing on Britain’s Got Talent in 2015 – where Simon Cowell said they have ‘great potential’ – SAKYI 4 have caught the attention of SBTV founder Jamal Edwards with track ‘Bad As You’ and featured the music video on his platform. To date, the music video for ‘Bad As You’ has generated over 36,000 views.

Exposed to various styles of music from a young age, the North West Londoners turned their hand to song writing, citing Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson as strong influences. With smooth and weak-at-the-knees lyrics featured in ‘I Need You’, these guys are definitely on their way to possess the lyrical standard plus vocal delivery of nineties/noughties R&B favourites Joe, Ne Yo and Chris Brown.
