SHADES LAWRENCE is a Montreal-born, queer hip hop artist of mixed British, Jamaican, Irish and Scottish heritage. A pure lyricist, Lawrence’s style can be described as alternative hip hop. Her words uplift, while keeping environmental justice at the forefront.
“Peace, that’s what we need,” raps Lawrence on her single released on the heels of 2022 full-length album, ‘Trust Takes Time’. ‘Peace’ directly names the Russian government’s invasion of the Ukraine, and urges the global community to negotiate for peace.
Canadian alternative synth-pop artist, songwriter and producer NEAVV‘s debut single, ‘Want You’, is an emotional and honest song based on the end of her relationship with someone who wasn’t being completely honest at the time. ‘Want You’ is a snapshot of what she was feeling at the time and although she knew she deserved better, NEAVV was still struggling with wanting and missing that person.
Speaking on the emotive piece NEAVV says: “Loss can be pretty complex when it comes to the emotions you feel, but at the core of it all for me is sadness. I just hope listeners find a place to sit in whatever emotions come up for them and know that any loss is hard – and it’s ok to not be ok.”
Want You is the first single off NEAVV’s forthcoming album. Have a listen below…
Following on from his previous single ‘Consent’, alt-R&B artist TREASURE BLOOM shares his second single, ‘Test My Patience’ released on Jamz Supernova’s Future Bounce imprint.
Speaking on the release, Treasure Bloom explains “Test My Patience is about feeling confident in your own abilities to get by. So experiences can make us feel down and out, but we keep it pushing regardless.”
London-born and Hertfordshire-raised genre blending singer, rapper and multi-instrumentalist Treasure Bloom has had an impressive track record of releases since his 2019 debut.
The electronic experimentalist extraordinaire writes and produces all his music in his home studio with influences ranging from Frank Ocean-esque progressive R&B to stripped down acoustic folk all the way to his musical upbringings in metal. It’s this unpredictable, sometimes even contradicting nature that makes Treasure Bloom one of the most fascinating new artists in the UK.
“Nostalgia” was the follow-up to “Nostalgia: The Prelude”, which came out under his former moniker in 2020. Whilst the latter was still self-released, Treasure decided to take the next step in becoming Treasure Bloom and teamed up with Berlin-based record label Kommerz Records for the release of “Nostalgia”.
Now, releasing under Treasure Bloom and armed with four records on Jamz Supernova’s ever growing record label – Future Bounce – he presents second single, ‘Test My Patience’, taken from EP project title ‘But Does It Make Sense’, due for release later this summer.
The immediately catchy melodies introduce Alabama rapper CHRISTOPHER THE GREY‘s new single, ‘Oh My Damn!’ which gives a taste of what is to come from his forthcoming album, ‘The Departure.’ Released in May via 3rd Child Records, it features his magnetic self-assurance and swag that’s so evident that you immediately take notice once he scorches the mic.
With the success of his previous release, ‘So Hot,’ featuring Snoop Dogg, Christopher The Grey is hoping to keep the hype going and continues to drop his neo-old school style unique flow in this latest authentic piece.
‘Oh My Damn!’ is Christopher’s most honest work to date. He states,”Look, this is who I really am. Maybe you had things confused but now you know. I want people to feel it’s okay to be who they are and know it’s cool. Most of my music is based on my life and experiences, nothing over the top, just everyday life. I want people to feel that it’s okay to live everyday life, and most of the time, it’s not glamorous and extravagant. The fun is in making the memories and living. So do some things that make you say, Oh My Damn!”
