Song of the Day: You Know – Amery

He made the crowds dance the entire summer but AMERY is now taking it slow with his latest single ‘You Know’.

Produced by James Lowland, the R&B track creates a warm and intimate atmosphere preparing the ground for the 22-year-old Belgian artist to fully express and embrace his vulnerability. AMERY evokes the vicious circle resulting from the fear of letting yourself be seen and be loved, with every rejection adding up to the emotional baggage for the next relationship.

AMERY first made waves in the music scene in 2017 with his debut single ‘So Good’ which now generated over 1.3 million streams. The singer/songwriter has been supported in the past by both national and international media with publications such as ELLE France, Buzzfeed, OkayAfrica or PopCrush, and even an early co-sign by Elton John.

This guy is not to be messed with…have a listen to ‘You Know’ below:

Song of the Day: Green Porcelain – Rebecca Phillips

REBECCA PHILLIPS makes her entry on the blog’s top spot with latest offering ‘Green Porcelain’.

The R&B Experimentalist delicately lay her rich vocals over a glitchy, electronic soundscape that lures you right into her world.

On the release, Rebecca says: “Green Porcelain may be beautiful to look at but it’s a cold material and can shatter easily. Ultimately the track explores fragility framed through multiple guises and visual metaphors, mostly in the form of physical materials and textures. It could be asking the listener: can you enjoy a connection when it’s striking appearance leaves you emotionally distant?”

The North Londoner’s debut ‘Burnt Peach’ received praise from the likes of i-D, CLASH, Resident Advisor to name a few – as well as receiving radio play from BBC Radio 1Xtra’s Jamz Supernova.

KAT DEAL holds these all together perfectly, with her commanding vocal display, glorious melodies and lyrical offering.

With a well-versed musical pedigree as a vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and arranger that has seen her tour the world, playing for Robbie Williams, Felix Jaehn, Eliza And The Bear and Jodie Abacus, among others, KAT DEAL is excited to take center stage with her own music, which can be described as modern alternative R&B-Pop with a 90s slant, and is defined by her use of lush 80s synths, 90s inspired melodies, honest and relatable lyricism, and her unmistakably powerful voice.

Song of the Day: Blinding – J Appiah (ft. Ruby Wood)

East London singer/songwriter J APPIAH, drops his latest single, ‘Blinding’ which gives is a frank examination of the musician’s interior anxieties with his developing career.

The record also acts as a cautionary tale and a creative expression of the mental labyrinths an artist passes through just trying to stay human in an industry that peddles idols and products. Reflecting his apprehension, ‘Blinding’ fuses a trace of Hip-Hop, shades of blues and gospel emanating from his soulful vocal delivery, beautifully assisted by Submotion Orchestra’s Ruby Wood.

Further explaining his inspiration behind his latest offering’, J APPIAH says, “‘Blinding’ is about my desire to be well-known as an artist but also my apprehension with regards to the pitfalls of it. It’s about people judging you for who they think you are before they’ve even met you. It’s also about being seduced by the idea of popularity. I think today there are many ways you can become well-known, everyone seems to want their 15 minutes of fame”.

The Hackney native has received strong support from the likes of BBC 1Xtra, 4 Music, Complex, BBC 6 Music, Clash Magazine, MTV Base, Dummy Magazine and The Line of Best Fit recently, while his last project ‘Travelight’ garnered rave reviews and strong acclaim from fans and the industry alike, and it’s anyone’s guess where this inimitable new artist will go next.
