Song of the Day: Get You Alone – Conrad The Third

‘Get You Alone’ is the first single from CONRAD THE THIRD‘s forthcoming, debut project, ‘Calm Waters’.

Based on a real life experience, ‘Get You Alone’ –  the first R&B song written by the Canadian singer/songwriter – is about wanting somebody to meet you halfway in a relationship, in order to grow – regardless of whether that meant growing together or apart.

Recorded in one take, ‘Get You Alone’ sets the tone for his upcoming project, which delves deeper into the trials and tribulations of the newcomer’s life and relationships.

New Track: Do You Wanna – SIF x SKAE

SIF (Daniel Kelly) and SKAE (Lane Dorsey) delivers a funky dose of 70-esque funk, fused with a salacious lick of laid-back R&B through a brand new collaborative track, ‘Do You Wanna’.

Their latest effort reflects those unsettling moments when you have a crush on someone, wondering if those feelings will be reciprocated.

The pair’s close-knit relationship goes way back to their early childhood. Growing up only one street apart, they quickly became friends and each went on to make their name in the world of arts – SIF starred on Degrassi: The Next Generation, while SKAE became a sought-after portrait photographer, capturing the likes of Johnny Reid and Ria Mae.

After reconnecting in the summer of 2016, the guys realised they had an intense passion for music and wasted no time in collaborating on a few tracks, blending SIF’s sharp hip-hop lyrics with SKAE’s genre-bending production.

The result is a series of songs full of movement and energy, with memorable hooks that would easily dominate the airwaves with slick lyrics as featured in their latest banger….check it out below…

Song of the Day: Foreward – Sara Diamond (Brodi)

Lately, NEW LEASE MUSIC have been featuring a steady stream of Canadian artists, dominating the Song of the Day limelight.

Continuing the stream is Montreal-based singer SARA DIAMOND and her latest smooth soulful R&B offering entitled ‘Foreword’. Featuring Brodi, whose baritone instrument adds extra meat to the titillating arrangements, ‘Foreward’ is about overcoming obstacles that once appear so mighty. Sara was inspired to pen this song after bumping into an ex at the gas station after breaking up for over a year.

This one’s definitely a keeper for the collection; check it out NOW:

New Music Video: More – Astha

ASTHA has released visuals to her most personal work to date, entitled ‘More’.

This smooth alt-pop number could be described as a victory song for the Canadian singer/songwriter after she turned her life around within a year, from years of loneliness and emptiness. Despite having sold-out tours across the UK, Australia and Asia, ASTHA revealed that she had massive breakdowns after each shows.

‘More’ is from her brand new EP ‘Muse’ which covers the struggles of a relationship – feeling frustrated, lonely and misunderstood – and the calm after the storm.

Interview with Alex Bent + The Emptiness

NEW LEASE MUSIC has been chilling out with Canadian singer/songwriter/producer ALEX BENT, who released his latest EP ‘Vanilla Blue’. I found out about the progress of the seven-track production since its release…and the inspiration behind that sweet, sweet crazy (I mean that respectfully!) sound featured in the album. So are you ready to go? Good…happy reading!

NLM: Hey, thank you for taking part in an interview with NEW LEASE MUSIC. How’s life treating you?

AB: Life is going alright. Thank you.

NLM: You released your EP, Vanilla Blue back in May. What the story behind the release?

AB: I’ve been working on it for a few years now. It means a lot to me and I’m happy it is continuing to age well as I come back to it. I’ve never been this proud of a project before.

NLM: What’s the public’s perception of the EP so far?

AB: People seem to be liking it. It’s my hope that people feel an emotional connection to these songs.

NLM: What’s your favourite single from the EP and why?

AB: “52” is my favorite. I was able to tap into a feeling I’ve been searching for as long as I’ve been writing songs.

NLM: What was your inspiration for writing the album?

AB: I was inspired by life and what I was seeing as well as what I wish I was seeing. It’s a perfect snapshot of where I’m at in my life right now.

NLM: What’s your inspiration for creating such a unique sound?

AB: I’ve been playing in bands since I was 12. I’ve gone through phases of listening to everything. I think I was able to find a sound that really captured all of my influences while still sounding true to myself.

NLM: So how would you describe your sound to someone who hasn’t heard your songs?

AB: Alternative Pop Rock or something like that

NLM: If you had the chance to collaborate with ONE mainstream artist on your EP, who would it be?

AB: Phil Collins

NLM: Besides the release of your EP, what are your plans for the rest of 2018?

AB: I’m going through a lot of life changes right now. It’s my hope to play some more shows at the end of the summer. I’m also very early into the process of starting the next album.

NLM: Finally, how can potential fans make contact with you?

AB: You can find me on social media. Send me a message. I’m looking to make some new friends!!
