KNOE Goes On A Lusty Journey With ‘Manhattan Summer’

Perfect for those warm summer nights, KNOE‘s new single ‘Manhattan Summer’, captures the rough sophistication of love in the queen of metropolis.

KNOE unfolds his seemingly effortless ability to transport the listener to ‘there and then’, with an element of Jazzy rap that makes this joint so sensual.

The inspiration behind this track goes back to his times in Manhattan. KNOE holds our hand and takes us for a walk through a romantic period full of lust and desire, while drawing a parallel between falling head over heels for someone and for a temperamental scene like Manhattan. “In reminiscence of that summer, I noticed a crazy similarity between the way I felt for a woman and the way I felt for the city.” The independent artist works alongside singer Paloma to bring those hot late evenings in the city to life.

‘Manhattan Summer’ follows his 2019 EP ‘Reasons’ and latest single ‘Down’. This one’s a REAL gem. Check it out below…

Song of the Day: Last Forever – Pyramid Tropic

Fueled by late nights in basement studios and frequent runs to the local café for coffee, PYRAMID TROPIC is a study in contrasts. The group’s music is percussive, synth-based dance music. One member is known as the singer/songwriter of a Toronto-based indie pop band while the other is recognized for designing music production software used by programmers working with Bjork, Coldplay and Depeche Mode. The chemistry was instant and the creative rush resulted in a flood of tracks being completed in their respective studios.

The initial reaction to their music was positive with The Wild Honey Pie describing first single, ‘My Destroyer,’ as a “dirty synth pop gem”. Sensing that this was a completely new musical direction for them, the duo has performed mainly in Europe at the legendary electronic club Katine am Berghain in Berlin, the Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg, the Great Escape Festival in Brighton, the Water Rats Theatre in London and for the Toronto International Film Festival.

Pyramid Tropic’s new single, ‘Last Forever’, carries on the 80s theme, that immediately puts you in the mind of Depeche Mode and perhaps New Order. Introduced by a gritty electronic drive, ‘Last Forever’ leads up to a percussive, synth-based dance piece.

This is ‘pop – goodness’ right here…check out ‘Last Forever’ below. Be sure to look out for a series of singles, EPs and remixes from these guys throughout this year.

J. Kas Pays Homage To His ‘#Hometown’ In Brand New Video

After travelling across Portugal, for over a year through his Dreamlife tour, collaborating with various upcoming artists including singer Catarina Lima (for single, ‘Lightwork’) and Breana Marin (for single, ‘Reckless’), rapper J. KAS returns home to Sheffield, for the brand new, Michael Krause-directed video for smooth R&B/hip-hop joint, ‘#Hometown’, featuring Chicago’s R&B singer June B.

Featuring the Sheffield spitter roaming around the town he calls home, the four-and-a-half minute video was produced from the demand of J. KAS‘ growing fanbase.

‘#Hometown’ forms part of his 2019 EP bearing the same name. The single is now available on:
iTunes // Spotify // TikTok  // Tidal // Deezer // Amazon  // Google Play

EP Review: Time I Got Goin’ – House Above The Sun

Five-piece act, HOUSE ABOVE THE SUN‘s latest EP, ‘Time I Got Goin,’ carries on their neat theme of upbeat, feather light indie folk/rock/Americana from their 2017 EP, ‘Five Hours North’ (featured through intro single ‘Trains’ and ‘Time I Got Goin) but with a hint of bluesy country soul.

‘Small Town’ and ‘Footsteps’ are probably the best pieces that showcase their new-found sound, where an indie rock/folk combo serves as the perfect backdrop for the twang of that county soul.

In addition to their take on alternative folk/rock music, a retro/grunge-esque fusion presents itself through ‘The Bitter Life of Little Tony Starfish’ which gives the production a hazy and slight sparky feel.

It’s a real delight to see these South Londoners back on track with a range of genres – that I never expected – to their already established sound.

Song of the Day: Island – Quietype

Toronto-based trio QUIETYPE‘s latest single, ‘Island’ chronicles the feeling of isolation just before the end of a relationship, despite best efforts of keeping it alive. Through the message in the song, Quietype hopes to reach to those who had the same experience.

The guys confessed that ‘Island’ is their proudest work from their brand new self-titled debut EP as the piece is one of the first songs they wrote as a group.

Speaking of the release, Quietype says: “This one was a really interesting song to tackle when it came to recording. There were so many layers, so many unique sounds and tones we wanted to incorporate. For us, it was mainly about finding the balance of incorporating all the sounds we had in our heads while still keeping the song subtle and clear.”
