Rising R&B Star Shamim Shares Single, ‘Intentional’

Coming on the back of the success of her debut single ‘Option & Priority’, which has seen her garner support from the likes of Kingsize Magazine, Guestlist Magazine, SingersRoom, Fame Magazine and Word Is Bond, South London R&B songstress SHAMIM is back with her fierce new single titled ‘Intentional’, taken from her forthcoming debut EP, which is due at the end of the year. The new offering ‘Intentional’ sees her linking up once again with burgeoning producer Amandeep Dhaliwal aka Clonez, who has previously worked with A2, Jevon and Sam Wise.

Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘Intentional’, Shamim says, “this single was inspired by the current state of affairs across the world and I wanted it to project a sentimental hopeful message as we are all living in quite confusing times. I have been struggling mentally to deal with ensuing challenges, as are many other people, but creating this song has given me a healthy space to be vulnerable with myself and the world, and that’s why ‘Intentional’ comes with such a hopeful sentiment, while my message of self-worth also aims to be uplifting and motivational.”

Highly recommended if you like Beyoncé, Rihanna, Jorja Smith, Summer Walker or SZA, Shamim is already showing all the early signs of an R&B star in the making, and she is excited to stake her claim as one of the UK’s brightest new talents with her anticipated debut project. Born in Uganda and raised in the UK to the musical influences of legends like Etta James, Nina Simone and Otis Redding, Shamim is driven by honesty in music and puts truth at the core of her message, with a determination to create with the same freedom and fearlessness as many of her idols.

Dwayne Patrick Offers Inspiration In Latest Single, ‘Keep Up’ Ft. Naye

Award winning producer DWAYNE PATRICK started producing music at the tender age of 16, and after developing his craft, he quickly forged a name as a prolific producer, bagging an impressive list of credits on tracks with Ghetts, Wretch 32, Swiss (So Solid), Paigey Cakey and Kele Le Roc.

After joining JOAT Music Group (known for launching J Hus’ career) and singing a publishing deal with the UK arm of the influential Peer Music, 2020 sees the young beat-master step out as an artist in his own right to release music with no compromises. He announces this move with his first single as a solo artist ‘Keep Up.’

This R&B-chill track features vocalist Naye, who has added a shimmeringly wavy vocal to the track and beat, written and produced by Patrick, who sits a range of contemporary sounds from RnB strings, rimshots and synth lines on top of a banging bottom end. Lyrically, ‘Keep Up’ acts as a positive message and reminder to the listener to keep grinding and to always look forward, never back. Patrick adds: “I want to create music that people can have great experiences with while listening. I think we achieved that with this one.”

The multi-talented London-based producer also scores music for film and Theatre – his musical theatre debut ‘LOVE THY FRO’ at Theatre Peckham in 2018 was a sold out run and returned to the box office the following year with more shows. He has also composed music for UK feature film ‘Brash Young Turks’ (from award winning director Naeem Mahmood – producer of two Star Wars films), and more recently produced two tracks on Swiss’ (So Solid) new album ‘Isolation & Muziq’ (released April 2020).

Outside of music, Dwayne Patrick is also CEO of the hugely successful ‘I CAN Project’, a community based project which deliver Self Development Programmes for young people. He has welcomed Rita Ora into the studio and also received a royal visit from Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, who commended the value of the I CAN Project.

Song of the Day: Lazy Light (Remix) – Mieko Shimizu

Remixed by Mercury Prize winner Mike Lindsay (Tunng) and co-written with William D Drake of The Cardiacs, MIEKO SHIMIZU‘s single, ‘Lazy Light’, goes on a laid-back journey through a smoke-filled landscape.

The track opens with pitch bending guitars, much like Connan Mockasin or Mac DeMarco and simmers down into a super chilled stoner backbeat. Mieko’s easy liquid style, backed by haunting vocals from William D Drake create a cocktail perfect for a lazy, hazy summer afternoon with nowhere to go and nothing to do.

Mieko and her brother, Yasuaki Shimizu (also a critically acclaimed artist), arrived in London with a singular goal in mind – to subvert all expectations of a Japanese female artist. A statement of intent, Mieko broke into the UK electronic movement under the moniker of Apache 61, garnering plays by John Peel and quickly building a name across the underground scene dominated by male contemporaries. She soon signed to Haruomi Hosono’s (Yellow Magic Orchestra) label releasing her eponymous album and led to her remixing tracks for YMO. She is an enigmatic live performer and has supported the likes of Goldfrapp, Massive Attack with Riz MC at their Meltdown Festival and with Kraftwerk at Sonar, Barcelona.

‘Lazy Light’ is taken from her album, ‘I Bloom’ released earlier this year… have a listen below…

Alice Rowe Releases Single, ‘All Night’ + Announces Debut EP

Urban/pop hopeful ALICE ROWE returns with new single and her debut EP that blends together elements of soul, pop and the classic R&B that everyone loves and needs during these weird times.

Having spent 2020 releasing a plethora of singles, Alice Rowe felt it was time to show off the lushious vocals mixed in with emotional lyricism in this new track. The young creative is known for talking about relationships, whether it’s writing about that spark of meeting someone for the first time or talking about an ex who helps create the mindset of being successful and that being her revenge.

That particular mindset is helped by a number of things, the inspirations of Loyle Carner and Etta James that have helped sharpen her sound as the years have gone on. But the most important part of the mindset has been the success of drawing interest from Radio 1Xtra, BBC Introducing and Capital Xtra as well as the likes of New Music Friday Denmark.

With her debut EP ‘Foreseen’, also released yesterday (4th August), the talented songstress has the belief and courage to become somebody that everyone can admire, which is why when Wonderland classified her as a rising star it was clear to see that the new track ‘All Night’ does just that…Check it out below…
