Song of the Day: Taken – Puppy Pound (ft. Kenah)

    Dynamic duo Bichon and Shepherd who make up PUPPY POUND are continuing to make waves with single ‘Taken’, a mid-tempo love number which features budding singer, Kenah.

    The teenage duo originally started as a trio emerging from a talent hunt and made their debut in 2017. The group has since rolled out numerous singles, an EP and music videos, earning them decent recognition. The versatility of their sound makes them appealing to a wide range of listeners. Fusing elements of Afro-pop, Afrobeat, Hip Hop and R&B, Puppy Pound’s distinctive sound is instantly recognisable.

    ‘Taken’, is their first single of the year, and is yet another step towards the release of the duo’s new project which they have revealed in their interviews will be dropped later this year.     Song of the Day: Someone New – Ida Elisabeth

    IDA ELISABETH is a multi talented singer-songwriter hailing from Norway with the world at her feet. The young troubadour is entirely self taught, and has taken inspiration from fellow generation Z pop stars such as Olivia Rodrigo and Ariana Grande to paint her picture as an artist. She made her debut in late 2020 and since then has gone on to produce more and more of her own tracks, involving interesting synth lines and vulnerable yet strong lyricism.

    She returns with another heavy dosage of catchy, melancholic pop, in single ‘Someone new’. Lending herself to her pop sensibilities once more, Elisabeth has crafted together a hugely catchy track that shows off her true vocal ability. Reminiscent of Grande in this track in particular ‘Someone new’ is a synth driven and ever resonating release that will surely pull at the heartstrings of many a music lover. Using transcendent synths and some cool, ambient electronic sounds to fill the air, it’s a song that will draw you with ease.

    In what is a track fully produced, written and recorded by Ida, makes her all the more easier to invest and believe in. At still such a young age, she has a limitless potential and ‘Someone New’ is the perfect example of her offering.

    Speaking more about the meaning behind ‘Someone New’, Ida explains: “Someone new is about falling in love with a person you originally didn’t plan on getting serious with. Even though you can feel the other person not reciprocating your feelings, you’re desperately holding on to them because you can’t imagine your life without them. You’re willing to be in a one-sided relationship just so you won’t have to see them moving on with someone new.”

    Watch Praiz’s Seductive Video For Single, ‘Love You Better’

    Multi award winning R&B singer, songwriter, and producer PRAIZ maintains his stature as a beloved curator of high-quality music with the release of his third studio album ‘Reckless’ and lead single ‘Love You Better’.

    Encapsulating the best of what Praiz has to offer the Gospelondebeatz production on ‘Love You Better’ is filled to the brim with sensual melodies and silky vocals that are underpinned with a buoyant percussion that uplifts the base of the track. After this, his feature on prominent rapper MI’s track propelled him into stardom, this then followed with his collaboration with Bez which became the first African song to premiere on BET 106 & Park.

    Since then, Praiz’s career has continued to go from strength to strength, boasting a powerful discography which has seen him collaborate with countless superstars including names such as Burna Boy, Wizkid, Sardokie, and Stonebwoy, allowing his unique talents to reach global audiences. Continuing to beat expectations and demonstrate why tastemaker platforms like CLASH have named him as one of the “new icons in Nigerian R&B” – Praiz is well on his way to becoming a household name!

    Rapper Samson Drops Sensuous Joint ‘Come Over.’

    Multi-genre artist SAMSON releases his latest self-produced track ‘Come Over’, which explores the themes of abstinence and celibacy when it comes to his latest love interest, SAMSON showcases his versatility as an artist with this R&B sample.

    Born of Nigerian heritage, Samson was initially raised in North West London until age 3 before moving to Borehamwood where he spent the rest of his young adulthood.

    Inspired by Hip-Hop, Funk, Jazz, Rock and Grime, and influenced by artists Tyler The Creator, Little Simz, Joey Badass and Chance the Rapper, over the years he has become comfortable with his unique sound and says he now feels okay with being the “odd one out”.

    Samson has received national radio support from Tiffany Calver on BBC Radio 1Xtra as well as BBC Introducing and many community radio stations.

    With plans to release a mixtape later this year, SAMSON is undoubtedly here to stay. Check him out below…

    Song of the Day: Obsidian Cane – JUICE (ft. Lyriqé)

    UK music producer OBSIDIAN CANE circles back again with Birmingham’s R&B singer/songwriter Lyriqé for their second collaborative single titled JUICE.

    Putting a fresh twist on Mtume’s 80’s soul classic, ‘Juicy Fruit’, Obsidian provides a hefty yet sensuous bassline to allow way for Lyriqé’s alluringly flirtatious vocals to weave into the smooth afterhours arrangements; a sizzling combination that’ll ignite those steamy magical moments between lovers for Valentine’s Day.

    ‘JUICE’ follows the pair’s well-received first single, I’m Good, championed by the likes of YouKnowIGotSoul, Xune, Soul Addict, and Stereohearts R&B as well as London’s Vibes FM 107.6 Birmingham’s Switch Radio, New York’s Oneluv and Urban Movement in Australia.

    With a career spanning over 20 years, Obsidian Cane has produced music for TV shows on Channel 4, BBC1 and BBC2. He also scored a club hit, ‘I Need A Rhythm’ as UK Garage act KP with music producer Paul Benjamin. More recently, Obsidian Cane released his three-track EP, RESET II, which was Champion by BBC London’s Jacqueline Shepherd.

    Appearing in a school talent show at the tender age of four, ignited Lyriqé’s strong interest for music. Fast forward to 2015, she released her EP ‘What The Game Needs’ before taking a five year hiatus to garnish and reinvent her sound.

    Lyriqé returned, armed with a fresh spin on soulful R&B in 2020 with her single ‘Mine’. Subsequent to the release, she has collaborated with fellow Birmingham artist ‘ChromeZ NeutroN’ on his ‘Silky’ EP (W.A.R.M, C.O.L.D) and has been working on a number of tracks with Obsidian Cane.

    The duo built their growing collaboration on their love for R&B and soul music and want to share their take on the genre to R&B fans of all ages.
