Song of the Day: Ride – Antonio Breez

Just under two years after the success of his acclaimed fourth album ‘Views & Likes’, which birthed breakout singles like ‘Listening To Drake’ and ‘Snap Chat’, Boston rapper, singer and songwriter ANTONIO BREEZ is gearing up to release his anticipated fifth studio album this fall. Now based in Los Angeles, the witty Boston lyricist and smooth vocalist is excited to begin his 2022 rollout with the glorious R&B opus titled ‘RIDE’, along with its summer-ready music video to accompany it.

Written by Antonio Breez and produced by Ocean Luciano, ‘Ride’ is a smooth and captivating offering, held together by Breez’s vocal dexterities and infectious melodies, under which producer Luciano lays an undeniable R&B sound bed that’s driven by glorious Spanish guitar arrangements, 808 drum patterns and lush synths. The track sees the LA-based Boston native singing and waxing lyrical about finding that ride or die lover that will be down for him through thick and thin.

Championed by MTV, Genius, BET, VH1, HipHopDX and Hot 97, among others, Antonio Breez burst onto the hip-hop and rap landscape with his seminal debut album ‘The Convocation Of Antonio Breez’, and followed it up with his classic Migration Narrative and Migration Narrative two projects, before 2020’s breakout album Views & Likes that perfectly captured his newly crafted hip-hop and R&B fusion sound. ‘Ride’ is the next step on Breez’ trajectory to the world by storm in 2022. Starmoney Links Up With Sneakbo For Epic Joint, ‘Flex’

Serving up a bouncing hustlers anthem, STARMONEY adds to an exceptional recent run of music as he teams up with Sneakbo for the release of ‘Flex’.

Starmoney flexes his lyrical sway and teams it with a noteworthy delivery. Celebrating the wins, the duo drop their own verses on ‘Flex’ to take a look back at where they’ve come from and their current status in life. Sneakbo offers up the first verse with his signature flows and charisma while Starmoney litters the track with gritty ad-libs, an anthemic hook and two verses that keep his talent in the spotlight throughout.

Making his presence felt over the last two years, Starmoney has stepped out of the shadows to deliver a slew of his own heavy rap joints that have catapulted the rising star up the chain of UK rap, including the weighty collaboration ‘Catfish’ featuring Snap Capone. Starmoney made his debut with ‘Black Lives Matter’ in 2020, gaining attention with UK and Caribbean press. Deeply rocked by world events and inspired to be an activist for the cause, Starmoney made the transition from writer to rapper with a powerful message and has since continued to use his platform to speak on positive change and drive collaboration between Caribbean and UK artists, as reported by the Jamaica Observer.

Born in Trinidad and Tobago but finding a place to call home in London as a child, Starmoney has had a world of black music to fuel his personal soundtrack to life. From the calypso sounds of his mother’s singing to reggae, dancehall and hip-hop, Starmoney also immersed himself in homegrown UK sounds such as garage, grime and UK drill. The myriad of influences and cultural understandings award him a unique musical perspective that flows through the centre of his very own material.

Duo ISYLA Share Their Album ‘Of Blood And Star’

Following on from the success of their 2020 debut release ‘Where She Walks’, which received acclaim worldwide, duo ISYLA have released their latest album, ‘Of Blood And Star’, on Earth Day (22nd April).

Their newest collection of work possesses a deep meditative and earthy blend of soft alt folk/pop throughout, with heavenly soothing vocal performance which is very reminiscent of acclaimed singer-songwriter Dido. The tranquil soundscapes are, at times, infused with a kick of funk (in ‘Pretty Lies’) and elements of 60s and 70s style soft soulful tones (featured in ‘Colours Of The Rain’ and Beautiful Change’)

UK singer-songwriters Lizzie Freeborn and Amy Woodburn formed ISYLA back in 2020 to offer a musical response to raising the profile of the climate crisis. The two combine their love for cinematic arrangements, dynamic harmonies and sultry grooves to sing for life on earth.

‘Of Blood And Star’ represents the deeper connections with the earth and each other. Have a listen to the album below…

Tayah Shares Blissful Single, ‘Momentary High.’

West London singer-songwriter TAYAH comes through with a smooth, delicate and fresh sound, coming in the form of latest single, ‘Momentary High.’

Produced by Super Beats (IAMDDB) and mastered by Jacob Cardinal (A$AP FERG, ROSALÍA, Charlie Puth), ‘Momentary High’ encapsulates a beautiful approach to rest. The laid-back rhythm and mesmerising vocals encourage staying in the moment and taking a breath.

Tayah shares, “I wrote “momentary high” during a time where I was advised to take time off and away to build back my physical and mental health. I started to delve into art and sound therapy, and created a song that reflected adapting to this change in pace, and breathing through it.”

Having performed at venues such as The Southbank, Lovebox Festival, and Notting Hill Carnival, as well as airplay on UK radio, Tayah has garnered plaudits among her peers and audiences.

Tayah combines unique and experimental sounds with her lyricism and cites icons such as Patrice Rushen, Slum Village, Missy Elliot, and Mary J. Blige as pivotal influences in her music. ‘Momentary High’ follows the release of dual single & visual ‘Is It Me, Hennessy?’, ‘8 ’Til Late’ and her debut EP ‘Wonderer Of The West’, which introduced her distinct lyrical and storytelling prowess.
