Song of the Day: Creepin – Trinity Square

Following its premier with DJ Target on 1Xtra and the visual release via GRM Daily, Nottingham group TRINITY SQUARE have smashed onto the scene with Instagram going crazy for the video and some of the biggest UK channels, including Hackney’s Finest, Young Kings, The StreetBlogs, imjustthatguy and banterNtalent looking like they can’t get enough of it. The group have also pulled in national radio support and playlists from Kiss Fresh, Apple Music, Pulse 88 as well as BBC Introducing via Leicester, Derby and Nottingham.

A group of five young rappers and singers; Huey, ZIA, YD, B5IVE, and Trizzy VS – TRINITY SQUARE are hitting the radar amongst many emerging figures due to their unique style which is both hard-hitting and smooth. Produced by Stunnah Sez Beatz, ‘Creepin’ hears each of the TRINITY SQUARE members bring a different element to the track to wind it into an infectiously catchy number with a hugely melodic, sing-a-long hook. Varying pace and rap flows meet with harmonic lyrics and whilst each individual stands out with clarity, the combination of all elements works together in perfect harmony.

Their distinct twist of UK Rap and singing compliments the already vibrant UK urban scene and following a number of impressive YouTube releases such as ‘Pull Up’, ‘Gwop & Gwolla’, ‘Cold Summer’ and ‘Fanta’, the guys have built up an admirable opening discography for anyone that wants to discover more….

EP Review: Brand New – Liam Bailey

I know it’s unorthodox to conclude an album at the beginning of the review, but I’m gonna do it anyway: if there’s a statement to sum up LIAM BAILEY‘s project, ‘Brand New’, it would be profoundly stunning.

From the atmospherically revitalising pieces, ‘Brand New’ and ‘I Lost My Way’ to a modern spin on old school soul/gospel delight, ‘Hold Tight’ and the guitar-drenched ‘Come Clean’, Bailey effortlessly delivers his compelling vocals, that’s so powerfully soulful which uplifts every single arrangement in the collection.

There’s talent and then there’s REAL TALENT; LIAM BAILEY definitely sits comfortably in the latter category. This guy is not to be messed with – check him out below:

Song of the Day: Russian Roulette – Sub Blue (ft. Incisive & Caleb Femi)

SUB BLUE continues to offer a fresh take on chilled out, alternative introspective R&B with single ‘Russian Roulette’.

Already championed by a diverse set of influential platforms ranging from Complex to BBC 1Xtra to Spotify, as well as amassing over half a million streams on his first few single releases, Sub Blue teases his die-hard fans with his first single of the year, ahead of his forthcoming project ‘Wilfully Blind’.

Featuring West London rapper Incisive acclaimed poet Caleb Femi, and produced by fellow Liverpudlian and long-time collaborator XamVolo, ‘Russian Roulette’ offers another cautionary tale, directly following on from previous release, ‘Think We’re Fine’.

Produced by Concrete Films and directed and conceptualised by Liam Broughton of The Playmaker Group, The visual for ‘Russian Roulette’ plays into this message, examining drug culture and self-destruction.

Co-produced by Nayla ‘Sillkey’ Nyassa who has produced tracks for the likes of Craig David, Jacob Banks and Vanessa White, ‘Come Over’ will sure heighten the hype of his forthcoming EP as the smooth after hours joint features Grammy-nominated R&B queen Teedra Moses, who undeniably, gives the remix a new lease of life.

2018 was a big year for Williams with the release of new music to various live performances. This Included supporting Faith Evans on her UK tour and recently being signed to the label Recordbox spearheaded by BBC Radio (1Xtra) DJ ACE.
