EP Review: Nothing Is Forever – Shon Jay

SHON JAY is that guy who set the bar high – and I mean unobtainably high among his music contemporaries.

His latest EP, ‘Nothing Is Forever’ may be only eight – tracks long, but there’s an electric mix of genres – from funk, old school soul and even an expected appearance of a little country – all of which oozes undisputed class.

Among a crowded industry that’s filled with quick-fix hits that’s easily forgotten, SHON JAY‘s ‘Nothing Is Forever’ is a true testament that there’s still GOOD and MEANINGFUL MUSIC out there and it’s definitely a collection that can be enjoyed from five or even ten years from now – I guess some things last forever.

Check him out below – it’s like listening to soul idols Stevie Wonder, Al Jarreau and George Benson, all wrapped up in one.

New Music Video: Not What I Thought – Amaal

Canadian-based singer/songwriter AMAAL has revealed an emotional new single titled ‘Not What I Thought’. The bass thumping ballad documents the reminiscence of love in the past tense. This first single comes with a stunning music video shot in an otherworldly location and directed by Sean Brown (Daniel Caesar, K. Roosevelt) along with AMAAL’s creative direction. The video follows the Somali-born singer in various breathtaking landscapes courtesy of Sister Nature.

The young songbird has been widely described as the epitome of female empowerment, shown through her music such as the inspiring ‘Scream’ released back in late summer 2017. AMAAL  also scored recognition with single, ‘Words Revealed’ which generated 200,000 YouTube hits within its first three months of release, and has inspired cover versions by fans. ‘Mufasa’ is considered her most viral song to date with views and streams accumulated to over two million.

To add to her already impressive discography, AMAAL is currently working on an EP, which no doubt will continues her self-exploration of being woman in today’s world. Check out the video to her latest offering below:

New Track: Liar – Luke Friend

You might remember LUKE FRIEND as the teenage rising star that finished third on the X-Factor in 2013, but the now 22-year old Devon singer and songwriter is finally coming into his own as a bonafide musician with his brand new single titled ‘LIAR’.

Released via ex Warner Music Vice President Kieron Donoghue’s indie label Humble Angel Records, ‘Liar’ is the first official single from Friend, since 2016’s ‘Take On The World’ and his UK top 40 charting ‘Hole In My Heart’, before that.

Led by his powerful signature vocals and gripping raspy tones, ‘Liar’ is a soulful bass-heavy offering with an exquisite UK Garage-esque undertone, which sees Friend finally coming to terms with a lying partner and breaking free from the relationship. The track is further held together, by a thumping bassline, engrossing storytelling and an explosive chorus that will compel you to sing along.

So get ready to sing at the top of your lungs…hit play on ‘LIAR’
