Anisa Shares R&B Nostalgic Single ‘Deserve Me’ + Video

Nearly two years on from her debut single ‘Yalla’, which amassed over half a million plays online, and was championed by BBC 1Xtra, Reprezent Radio and FootAsylum, among others, and with superstar co-signs for her creative talents from the likes of Stormzy, Cardi B, and City Girls, British Somali singer, songwriter, and content creator ANISA is back with her brand new single titled ‘Deserve Me’. Written by Anisa, and produced by Edashman, pays homage to the ‘90s and early noughties era of R&B music that was pivotal to Anisa’s upbringing, and influenced her artistic journey.

‘Deserve Me’ also comes with a fun and creative music video, directed by Anisa herself, and shot on location across the city of London. Inspired by ‘90s era music videos that came with storytelling plots and creative acting, Anisa has put together a story-led music video for ‘Deserve Me’, which sees Anisa being grounded from going out with her friends, but as you’d expect, she pulls up to the party, where she sees her ex-lover, and is reminded of all the ways that he didn’t deserve her in the first place.

Nija Shares New Single, ‘Finesse’ + Video

Fresh off her stellar debut single, ‘Ease My Mind (Come Over),’ NIJA returns with a smooth, straight-talking new single, ‘Finesse.’ This time, she has a searing message for an ex who has a way of finessing his way back into her life, despite her best intentions.

In the provocative official video, Nija is entwined in an intimate slow dance with a partner as she delivers an emotional performance of ‘Finesse.’

Before she had even turned 21, Nija had written scores of Billboard Hot 100 hits. Now – at 23 – the three-time GRAMMY Award-winning contributor is gaining widespread acclaim for her own music and relishing in the freedom to fully express herself. The FADER named “Ease My Mind (Come Over)” as one of the “10 songs you need in your life this week” upon its release in August and noted, “Nija’s first foray as a solo artist is a booming, drill production-backed banger that finds her asking a lover to take her stresses away.” VIBE hailed her as “a vocal talent whose sultry tone brings her lyrics to life.” Billboard said, “With a whomping bass and edgy vocals, the star songwriter – who’s penned hits for Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion, Summer Walker, Chris Brown and so many more – now has a standout song under her own name.”

Here’s your chance to check out the Jay Weneta-directed video for the track, produced by Bregma and Jack Rochon.

Nija Unveils Debut Single, Ease My Mind (Come Over) + Video

Before she had even turned 21, NIJA had written scores of Billboard Hot 100 hits. Now 23, the three-time GRAMMY Award-winning contributor has reached a new milestone: the release of her self-penned, self-produced debut single, ‘Ease My Mind (Come Over)’ via Capitol Records. With her enticing, self-assured vocals, Nija delivers an irresistible invitation on the track, which is an inventive mixture of R&B and drill music.

Shot in Los Angeles, the official video for ‘Ease My Mind (Come Over)’ is a visually surreal exploration of inner space, traveling through Nija’s subconscious mind. Director Child (Big Sean, Janelle Monáe, H.E.R.) gives us a keyhole view into the vibrant worlds conjured by her imagination as she awaits the arrival of a lover.

Nija says, “This song is about those times when you’ve had a long day, maybe stressed out from work, and you just want to get your mind off things with that special person at the end of the day.”

Born in New Jersey and now based in Los Angeles, Nija has demonstrated a knack for translating her experiences into relatable, emotional songs for artists such as Beyoncé, Cardi B, Ariana Grande, Drake, H.E.R., Lady Gaga and Maroon 5. As she started working on her own music, she relished the freedom she had to fully express herself. Now Nija is writing songs that are more intensely personal and taking control of her music and narrative in a way she never has before.

‘Ease My Mind (Come Over)’ is the first single from her forthcoming debut project, slated for release later in the year. Check out the video for Nija’s debut below…

Song of the Day: Toxicity – Teri Eloise

Singer, songwriter and record producer, TERI ELOISE  is calling out all the emotional vampires for her latest single ‘Toxicity’, a fierce and riveting trap infused pop song that showcases a never before seen or heard side of the 22 year old artist.

The track’s distinctive sound was produced, mixed and mastered by Richard Mcclashie –  aka M.R.I. –  a fellow Caribbean producer who has worked with the likes of Post Malone, Cardi B, French Montana and Caribbean heavyweights Sean Paul, Vybz Kartel and Shenseea.

In contrast to her sweet, bright and summery single, ‘Common Sense’ which laments the idea of being blinded by infatuation, ‘Toxicity’ delves into a darker aesthetic with fiercely direct and defiant lyrics over an infectious trap beat.

Lyrically, ‘Toxicity’ embodies impeccable word play that fires up a fierce and resilient attitude, juxtaposed perfectly with her airy-toned yet commanding vocals. “Your toxicity is too persistent, and I’m just tryna keep the peace consistent” Teri chants, followed by savagely written verses which directly point out negative unhealthy traits of a toxic relationship. Teri ends the song singing “I don’t want it, get out of my way” and there is no denying that this is an anthem for anyone who is over toxic relationships and ready to fight back. Once again, the British born, Trinidadian raised songwriter shows her ability to express loaded emotional experiences in a way that is very relatable.

Since its release late last month, ‘Toxicity’ received support from the likes of BBC Introducing  as well as Dan Blakes’ set on Pulse88 Radio.
