Song of the Day: Favours – DLK

Talented Londoner Duramaney “D L K” Kamara announces the release of his self-produced, debut EP and the first record leads with promise as to his future in the music scene.

Featuring co-production from Thrilla, a notable and rising producer from the UK who co-produced ‘Favours’ alongside Meshach and D L K, the EP also features KESHAV credited as co-producer on ‘Stay Low’ and a featured guest performance from a longtime friend and talented aspiring rapper from North London, Sweeney featured on ‘Big Facts’.

With one foot in the film world and the other in the music world, D L K has long been around the two scenes, chopping them up alongside the greatest stars in the UK. Having appeared as an actor in British recording artist Stormzy’s short film ‘Gang Signs & Pray (The Film)’ during 2017, his acting career continued to advance favourably, starring in ‘What Happened to Evie’ 2018, a short film by Carol Younghusband. His debut feature film appearance came in 2018 as he starred in feature film ‘Yardie’, the directorial debut by Idris Elba based on the bestseller novel ‘Yardie’ by Victor Headley. Amongst other notable developments in the same year was his contribution as Sound Designer for the ‘Royal Court’ theatre play ‘Instructions For Correct Assembly’.

Listed amongst credits as producer of BBC 1Xtra (DJ Target) backed single titled ‘One Time’, a lead single featured on Olami Still’s 2019 EP release ‘Guide Me Through’, D L K is set to continue his great and rightly earned rise to become notable and worthy amongst the greats in the entertainment and lifestyle industry globally.

New Track: I Spy – OSO Wavey Jay & Arz

One of London’s most hyped up newcomers OSO WAVEY JAY links up with ARZ and fourteen year old producer, YK The Plug, to fly the flag for the new generation.

After dropping the huge ‘Soulja’ earlier this year, which quickly amassed over a hundred thousand views in a matter of weeks, as well as ‘Get By’ featuring UKNWN which quickly topped that and continued the hype around Jay’s name, OSO WAVEY JAY enlists fellow fifteen year old MC, ARZ to prove to the world that the youngsters aren’t to be slept on. ‘I Spy’ shows the two effortlessly spitting over a unique and laid back trap instrumental, continuously challenging each other to step up their flows to insane levels as the song continues.

With his upcoming EP ‘Schoolboy Jay’ coming out in the next couple of months, featuring ‘I Spy’ as well as the massive singles ‘Soulja’ and ‘Get By’, there’s no question that OSO WAVEY JAY is one of the most exciting artists coming out of London at the moment.

Album Review: Cabernet Sauvignon – Samurai Champs

When I hit the play button on SAMURAI CHAMPS‘ latest album, ‘Cabernet Sauvignon’ I was expecting a trail of some trip-hop beats accompanied by a menacing b-line, a tone set by the introductory track, ‘Let Me Be Sad’.

But I stand corrected and I was pleasantly taken back as down-tempo vibe was then intertwined with different variations of chilled-out soul and R&B, topped off by a spine-tinging duet of alluring vocals and a relax flow that sometimes flares up with excitement. ‘Poseidon’ possess a vintage haziness of soul/R&B, that’s can be reminiscent of Tom Misch or perphas, Marc Ayres.

Tracks ‘Bae’ and ‘Still Mine’ contributes a lick of modern afterhours R&B which intensify the spine tingling sensation of the set. After a short run of the downtempo trip-hop pieces, the album concludes with title track, ‘Cabernet Sauvignon’, another heart melting trip-hop/afterhours number which best shows the vocal/rap duet.

With great balance between the bold and the delicate SAMURAI CHAMPS have made a massive splash with their debut collection; their efforts definitely won’t be drowned out from the rap game.

New Track: Broken Heart – Billions

BILLIONS comes with a Broken Heart through his fourth single off his critically acclaimed debut mixtape ‘Thirteen13’ which  reached #1 in the UK Rap charts.

‘Broken Heart’ is a smooth, saxophone-heavy banger, something very different to his previous singles on the tape, including the club track ‘Motive’ and the street classics ‘Make It Home’ and ’10 Toes’ – proving BILLIONS is one of the most versatile artists in the game right now.

The video, shot by London videography giant Suave, continues the Hackney spitter’s luxury rap narrative, with him dressed in the finest Gucci drip, rolling in a Range with a Rollie on his wrist; while candidly talking us through his struggles with heartbreak.
