Song of the Day: Afraid of Americans – 184 & Big Toast

Borrowing the chorus from David Bowie’s track of the same name, ‘Afraid of Americans’ is a humorous track which essentially take down of one of the most prominent yet intellectually bankrupt figures in modern history. The song takes aim at the personification of politicised stupidity, Donald Trump.

‘Afraid of Americans’ is the first single from rapper BIG TOAST and producer 184‘s collaborative album, ‘Prolefeed’. It is released with accompanying visuals shot outside the American embassy featuring a rubber-faced Donald Trump / Michael Myers monstrosity.

The track is available for free download via Bandcamp, alongside the instrumental, a remix and a follow up to Toast’s 2015 cult classic ‘Fuck off Tarquin’.

Song of the Day: Rolling – Ratlin (ft. Dun D)

Mozart Estate native RATLIN finishes up 2018 by teaming up with Dun D for latest cut ‘Rolling’, lifted from his currently untitled EP set to drop early 2019.

Released via GRM Daily, RATLIN, Dun D and their squad roll up in Amsterdam and capture their escapade for the visuals. Having been teased to snippets and behind the scenes shots of the video on his Instagram account, ‘Rolling’ has been eagerly anticipated by RATLIN’s fans and the likes of Spotify and Apple Music have heard that call too as the record instantly hit the ‘Best Of the Week’ playlist as well as ‘New Music Friday’ and ‘Rap UK’.

Classed as one of the most relevant and revered figures in the UK rap landscape today, RATLIN is a notable figure across platforms such as BBC 1Xtra, GRM Daily and Trench Magazine. He performed at Wireless Festival last year, sharing the stage with WSTRN and long-time collaborator Fredo, who he also supported on both of his sold-out UK tours this year and has worked with some of the scene’s most exciting artists including Avelino, Sneakbo, Abra Cadabra, Stylo G and Ayo Beatz, as well as veterans such as G FrSH, Lethal Bizzle and Blade Brown.

New Music Video: Sight – Gaspar Narby – Sight (ft. D.A.N)

Following on from the release of single ‘Words Of July’ feat. British singer LEES, the London-based Swiss producer GASPER NARBY shares the music video to single ‘Sight’. The Theo Le Sourd-shot production follows two people through the streets of New York, both going through the pain of heartbreak and surrounded by memories of their time together.

‘Sight’ forms part of Narby’s first full body of work, ‘A Stare Makes Two’ EP. Flush with intricate beats, soft melodies, experimental eletronica and complex production, Narby sets down five tracks that explores the various stages and forms of romantic relationships.

New Track: Energy – OMZ Trapstar

Following a series of bangers this year including ‘Never Boring’ which received enormous support from the likes of VIBE + BBC Radio 1Xtra, to the Afro-beats anthem ‘Stop Flexin’, South London rapper OMZ TRAPSTAR  drops his brand new single ‘Energy’ and announces his debut EP ‘O’ set for release on 28th December.

The rapper officially closes off the year with his first project, having previously collaborated with the likes of Skepta, Blade Brown, Krept and Youngs Teflon, the rapper is aligning himself alongside key artists as a ‘one to watch’ for 2019.
