Award-winning artist Amity explores the other side of love with single, ‘To Be Known’.

After making an expressive entry on the blog with debut piano-led single, ‘Bite Me!’ – which claimed the blog’s Song of the Week title for two consecutive weeks over on Instagram – award-winning singer/songwriter AMITY returns to the spotlight with a compelling follow-up, ‘To Be Known’.

While the music industry is forever saturated with love songs that glamorises the idea of the perfect loving relationship, ‘To Be Known’ addresses the grey areas of the topic, which is often overlooked. Delivered with a delicate piano backdrop, the 18-year-old adds that perfect touch of vulnerability to his usual soulfully raw vocals and explores how love can be a frightening experience, especially if one is not use to receiving such intense feelings.

This is why this young music maestro in the making became an overnight sensation; Amity is not afraid to wear his heart on his sleeve and explore topics that most would shy away from. Such bravery, coupled with uniquely compelling storytelling, has earnt Amity flowers from the likes of the Guardian and the BBC. Starting his music journey during lockdown, using music as a coping mechanism, Amity hopes to inspire and encourage his rapidly growing fanbase and prospective listeners to speak up in what they believe in. His latest single, To Be Known’ is a true testament to Amity’s artistry as the stunning ballad offers a safe space to ponder on the dubious areas that love can sometime presents.

‘To Be Known’ is the second single from Amity’s Albert Hall-backed debut EP, set to release with a launch show at The Royal Albert Hall itself in July…but for now, have a listen to the compelling single below…

OUT TODAY: Obsidian Cane & Gizella call for more humanity with second single, ‘Crazy World’

Producer OBSIDIAN CANE and singer GIZELLA continue to craft their newfound collaboration with second release of the year, ‘Crazy World’, out today (17th April) across various music platforms.

With ‘Crazy World’, Obsidian Cane once again proves that Drum ‘N’ Bass doesn’t have to be a formulaic affair by venturing into a mesmeric and delicate version of the genre. Gizella’s three-octave vocal range perfectly intertwine with the captivating soundscapes, calling for more humanity in today’s unsettling and disruptive times.

‘Crazy World’ quickly follows their debut single ‘Never Change’, which received raving reviews on various notable online publications – YourEDM and Playy Magazine, hailed the duo as ‘musical geniuses’, whereas A&R Factory praised Obsidian Cane’s production prowess and compared Gizella’s vocal performance to the likes of Björk.

The collaboration is born out of Obsidian Cane’s search for a female vocalist. He asked an old school friend, who told him about a singer who rides a bike every morning, singing angelically. As Obsidian Cane and Gizella met for the first time it became very clear, although their music styles were very different, they could create something special that’s distinctive without comprising each other’s artistry.

Hailing from London, Obsidian Cane has produced music for artists signed to Warner Bros, EMI and Parlophone as well as producing music for TV shows on Channel 4, BBC1 and BBC2. He scored a club hit, ‘I Need A Rhythm’ as UKG duo KP and currently performs live with KP featuring Ferraz at events such as 51st state Festival, House of Silk. A Music Technology Graduate, Obsidian Cane bravely fuses R&B, Funk & Hip-Hop elements with electronic rhythms to create distinctive UK Garage, R&B/Hip Hop & Drum and Bass songs.

Debuting on Gotcha! Records in 1998 with the vinyl release of ‘Express Yourself,’ Gizella made a name for herself in the UK Underground Garage dance scene. Evolving as a versatile vocalist & singer-songwriter performing across a wide spectrum of genres – including Hip Hop, EDM, Drum n Bass, and Dubstep – Gizella has gained a well-earned reputation as a vocal chameleon and storyteller and has collaborated with various artists including Korostyle, Juleunique, Mizimo, Experimental Feelings and Ronny Becher.

With ‘Never Change’ steadily rising their burgeoning collaboration, their new single ‘Crazy World’ – out today (17th April) across various music platforms – may well nudge them into the limelight as the ones to watch. Why not check it out below…

OUT TODAY: Sleepy Days share nostalgic single, ‘Night Owl’

Hailing from Dublin, indie rock band SLEEPY DAYS came to fruition after an act of kindness: whilst studying at BIMM Dublin (Dublin Music college), the quartet quickly rallied into the college’s recording studio, to rescue a mutual friend’s final assignment.

From that moment, Conor Dwyer (lead vocals & rhythm guitar), Michael O’Kane (lead guitar & backing vocals), Alex Ganje (bass) and Aaron Lacumber (drums), realised they had immediate chemistry and, as the saying goes, the rest was history. From that undeniable bond, Sleepy Days has conjured their trademark that takes inspiration from Japanese rock, synth pop and surf rock and perhaps a hint of shoegaze.

Their new single,’Night Owl’ immediately transports you back to the late eighties/early nineties when shoegaze was at its best. With reverbing guitar riffs and hypnotic rhythms, ‘Night Owl’ reflects lead vocalist Conor Dwyer’s struggle to transition from the nocturnal life of the college days into the early starts in the real working world.

With the ahead on, brash arrangements, perfectly reflecting the dreaded changeover, this single should be an ode to any soon-to-be graduates who are anxious about to that major life leap.

‘Night Owl’ is out today (21st February) across various music platforms. To commemorate the release of the single, the guys are headlining a show in The Workman’s Club Main Room, Dublin, hosted by Ex-Oh Promotions, on Friday, 7th March.

OUT TODAY: jem wax shares empowering single, ‘SPIDERRR’

JEM WAX‘s latest offering, ‘SPIDERRR’, was born from a recording session the London-based singer/producer had with multi-instrumentalist Natsuma and top-liner Emma Tea. During a lengthy and heartfelt session, the trio shared experiences of male privilege, power dynamics and personal growth.

Their shared experiences resulted in an audacious genre-bending cut with jem’s signature sung-spoken style firmly instilling strength, resilience and liberation, over a deep-guelling bass, which ran rampant through the production, with playful elements of jazz and hip-hop.

Commenting on the powerful track, who she produced with multi-instrumentalist Natsuma, jem said: “This song symbolises the power we have over our pasts. We can’t change what happened, but we can process how it affected us and make sure we don’t repeat mistakes. I want people to feel empowered, to have fun, and to dust off a few cobwebs after listening to the track. To me, ‘SPIDERRR’ is like Imagine Dragons meets auto-tune, meets UK Rap, meets Soul.’

A BBC Introducing favourite, jem’s dynamic vocals and lyricism, which radiates attitude and authenticity, have catapulted in the UK live music scene, earning her a sold-out headline show at Camden Chapel, plus a string of notable performances at The Strongroom, Piano Smithfield, and more recently, Servant Jazz Quarters.

As jem wax continues to be unapologetically herself, by blending elements of jazz, rap and pop to create a bold, genre-defying sound, she’s definitely the one to watch in 2025.
