New Track: Yo Dude That’s F**king Awesome – Soho Kings

Although SOHO KINGS‘ latest release features their futuristic trademark of hip-hop/pop with a dash electrifying trap elements, the three-minute banger is washed with chilled back vibe – it’s a great surprise.

This may be their best release of the year…what do you think? Here’s your chance to check it out and have your say below.

Song of the Day: Gold Fir – Sirens

Following the runaway success of, ‘Night Walk’, GOLD FIR satisfies the demand for soulful sassy vibes with, ‘Sirens’, the follow-up single out via +1 Records.

The emerging London duo saw a huge response to their debut offering, which was accompanied by a vibrant 2D animated video produced by Rejjie Snow collaborator Jack Brown. With repeat plays across BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, 6 Music, Triple J and Beats 1, as well as support online from i-D, DIY, Hunger, London In Stereo and a run in the Hype Machine popular chart, Spotify, Apple Music, Vevo and Bandcamp also came out in support of ‘Night Walk’ with heavy playlisting and homepage features alike.

New track ‘Sirens’ demonstrates the duo’s fierce ingenuity. A track “about welcoming different aspects of yourself to the dance floor” – elements of pop and 80’s devil-may-care are all present, and delivered in a neat package.

Simply known as James and Mabel, the pair’s eccentric, soulful sound is inspired by their favorite places, friends and films. With plans for a debut EP early in 2018, the duo prove now more than ever that genre is meaningless, but the right music will always be full of soul…have a listen to ‘Sirens’.

New Music Video: Fine Line – Jimmy Smash

Following the release of their latest single ‘Fine Line’ last month, alt R&B/pop duo JIMMY SMASH unveiled a rather spaced out video which showcases clips of nature at its very finest.

‘Fine Line’ is the follow-up release to debut single, ‘Macadamian’, which garnered support from music tastermakers including Clash magazine and Spotify Viral 50. With melodic fusion of carefree pop/R&B, this single – which tells the tale of an unrequited love – may well continue their newfound attention.

New Track: Blame – TWIMM

TWIMM graced his presence on NEW LEASE MUSIC for the first time with debut single entitled ‘Blame’, taken from his forthcoming EP set for release early next year.

He previously recorded under INDIANS and real name Soren Juul, in which he felt ‘both names had outlived their artistic roles’. His current moniker marks a new chapter as a renewed singer and songwriter – with no disguises.

Kicking off his new chapter is an atmospherically lush pop vibe, coupled with a message of accepting loss after a long battle. Soren explains further.”You have to be ok letting go of all the good intentions and maintain a little respect for yourself.”

New Track: Fine Line – Jimmy Smash

Following the release of their debut single, ‘Macadamian’, Norwegian soul-pop duo Jimmy Smash are set to drop their easygoing follow-up, ‘Fine Line’.

‘Fine Line’ was self-produced in vocalist Håvard Lyngstad’s childhood home and is a melting pot of organic instrumentation, analog synthesisers and rich 80s R&B melodies, carried by Lyngstad’s raspy tone and soft falsetto.

Depicting a tale of unrequited love, the song tackles “the dilemma of getting pulled deeper and deeper into someone, even though the person never returns the favour. Although lyrically melancholic, the juxtaposition of the tranquil production instils a sense of hopefulness throughout the carefree track, resulting in a nostalgic, halcyon aesthetic that is soon becoming their trademark.

Releasing their debut single in early October, the band saw exposure from Clash, The Burning Ear, Norwegian radio stations NRK P1 and P3, and rose to #3 in Norway’s Spotify Viral Top 50. Blending a soft R&B sound with pop rock elements, the duo conjure up a heavenly sound similar to the likes of Dornik, Matt Corby and James Bay.

Although fresh onto the scene, JIMMY SMASH are already starting to make their unique imprint on the music industry in challenging the pop music of today. With plenty of music to come, be sure to keep an eye on the soulful duo….
