J F L E Shares New Single, ‘I Lost My Way’

Hailing from South-East London, 26 year old Joseph Edwards writes and produces under the moniker J F L E – beginning the musical project in 2014 during his university years. Manipulating electronic synthesisers and deep rumbling bass-lines, ‘I Lost My Way’ is a sombre tale of heartache – dealing with the all consuming feeling of lost love.

Speaking of his latest release, Edwards says: “‘I Lost My Way’ is still in some ways a song about devotion, although it is bittersweet – ‘the way you take away the half of me’. These sentiments do remain quite abstract and warped, just as they were whilst they lived within my head. Everything that I write in one way or another seems to deal with feelings of loneliness. It drives and informs everything I create, right from inception. So I better cross my fingers that I don’t meet the right person I guess!”

Creating all of his music from his bedroom, the DIY producer has spent over a decade carefully curating his sound. His intricate soundscapes have garnered praise from the likes of The Guardian (One to Watch), The Skinny, Clash Magazine and EARMILK, as well as winning Fresh Beats 365 ‘Most Musically Innovative Artist’ Award in 2016.

J F L E imbues every release with an intimately curated narrative – with grief and loss at the heart of its artistic core…Have a listen to ‘I Lost My Way’ below…

Song of the Day: Stubborn Love – Josh Kumra

Having topped the UK charts and performed on ‘Later… With Jools Holland’ before having released his debut album, ‘Good Things Come To Those Who Don’t Wait’, JOSH KUMRA suddenly found himself with a major record deal and under pressure to capitalise on the sudden exposure brought by his collaboration with Wretch 32 on ‘Don’t Go’. The single shot straight to #1 in the UK upon its release.

Most would assume this is the definition of ‘making it’ as a musician, but for Josh the unexpected publicity meant losing the original idea of ‘writing music from the heart’. He went on to admit: “Instead of having the time to perfect songs that reflected my life experiences and create an honest album, like I’ve always imagined, I felt vulnerable and lost against the many opinions and expectations from people around me”.

Stepping away from the rat race, Josh circles back to his true self to produce and record his latest single, ‘Stubborn Love’ a raw and honest piece which reflects the struggle of dedicating yourself to something for all the wrong reasons.

Available now on all download/streaming sites, ‘Stubborn Love’ is the first release Josh’s upcoming EP, ‘Pull Me Back In’ – slated for release in April.

July Jones Delivers Video For Single ‘Switch It Off’

Having released the audio at the end of last year, JULY JONES unleashes the  video for single, ‘Switch It Off’.

Speaking on the release, the British-Slovene artist says: “The single is about waking up from a one-night-stand and constantly thinking about the person you were with the night before. This is exactly what happened to my boyfriend & I, I became obsessed with fantasying about him to the point I couldn’t switch it (my mind) off.”

The fierce production mirrors the obsession and shows Jones hooked up to multiple videos of previous sexual encounters. Each video is drip-fed through cables that connect the braids on her head to the televisions, playing each individual memory back to her.
