Jayne Doe Shares Single, ‘Welcome To Hollywood’, A Candid Anthem Of Sacrifice

Oozing soul-stirring vocals, moody guitar riffs and a catchy hook, Los Angeles – based artist Sydney Agudong – aka JAYNE DOE – presents her new single, ‘Welcome To Hollywood’, which describes her experience in pursuing her dreams in the ‘city of stars and angels’, putting her health and heart out on the line without knowing what the future holds.

She says of her experience: “Hollywood’ is glamorized as a place where people can be whoever they want to be and live out their wildest dreams, but no one ever talks about the thousands and thousands of rejections and thoughts of giving up and giving in to one of those critics or “no’s” that tell you it’ll never happen, whether you or someone else is the critic themselves. No one talks about the mental strength and sacrifice it takes to make a dream come true.”

Born and raised in Hawai’i, the 21 year old, made her first on-stage debut at 18 months old, and knew that’s where she belonged. Also a multi-instrumentalist, Jayne spent her childhood years singing in local talent shows and competitions, receiving awards and recognition at every stop. At 10, Sydney wrote and recorded her first original song called ‘I’m So Sorry’ that was later played and requested on local Hawaiian radio stations.

Jayne is currently collaborating with Al Machera, a music industry veteran that engineered the famous “Salt N Pepa” and co-founded Westlake Recording Studios, a highly utilized and respected recording company known best for Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ Album.

When she’s not in the studio and out performing, Jayne is quickly developing her on-screen credits in TV and film. She shot a lead role in her first feature film titled, “West Michigan,” and booked a recurring guest star role on Netflix’s “On My Block”.

Jayne Doe, is in the process of developing her album. Until then, have a listen to her latest single, ‘Welcome to Hollywood’ below…

Genre-Defying Artist Rufus has Dropped His New Track, ‘Taking Flight’

Coming on the back of his glorious debut single ‘One Eye Open’, which introduced listeners to his outlier fusion sound of R&B, alt pop and trap music, and caught the attention of tastemakers such as Capital Xtra, Earmilk, GUAP Magazine, 9Bills, Wordplay Magazine and Noctis Magazine, new genre-defying UK artist and producer RUFUS circles back to unveil his brand new single, ‘Taking Flight’ as he continues to build momentum towards his upcoming debut EP,

Written and produced by Rufus, ‘Taking Flight’ sees the young Wiltshire native pouring his heart out about the realities of following your dreams, persevering through and keeping to your chosen path, no matter how hard the terrain gets. According to Rufus, we should “always have the ultimate belief that you will reach your favoured destination in the end – maybe not today but one day for sure”. Sonically, the track is an exquisite R&B-trap offering with nuanced indie alt-pop sensibilities, and honest relatable songwriting.

Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘Taking Flight’, Rufus says, “the track came about when time was dragging on negotiating my deal (as always is the case when lawyers get involved). I woke up after another night shift of flipping burgers and washing dishes and felt real frustration. I decided to put it all into a song – I wrote, recorded and produced it in my bedroom on my small rig. The lyrics in ‘Taking Flight’ about not wanting to work in restaurants, cleaning dishes is not a diss on people that do, but rather a cry for something different for me as I’ve done it my whole life so far”.

Hailing from Wiltshire in the southwest of England, the gifted singer, songwriter, musician and producer fell in love with music from an early age and showed instant promise. From writing and performing at local venues as a teenager to producing for his peers while at college, Rufus has been honing his craft as an artist and is ready for the world to take him in. The exciting British talent has been hard at work with fellow producers such as TheElements (Stormzy, Headlie One, Zara Larsson), Remedee (AJ Tracey, Unknown T, Not3s), Kxlla K (Lethal Bizzle, Sneakbo) and Chris Rich (DigDat, Abra Cadabra) to bring the vision for his outlier fusion sound to life.

JUNO Award nominated R&B artist Emanuel shares new single ‘Worldwide’ + Lyric Video

Canadian R&B phenom EMANUEL‘s latest single ‘Worldwide’ captures a time when dreams were still dreams – before his music was streamed millions of times around the globe and his talent was admired by fans and critics alike.

Created in his producer/collaborator Bedroom’s basement, Emanuel recalls that the lyrics “floated up to the surface” as ‘Worldwide’ spontaneously took shape: “During that time, we were really dreaming out loud in the way that we would talk about our futures and in the way that we were trying to summon this grand reality. This song was really born from the deep want to take the music to the world.” Years later, ‘Worldwide’ has morphed from a manifestation mantra into a song of celebration and a prayer for the future.

“This past year has been a great learning experience for what it means to really manifest something and be appreciative of the things you’ve been able to uncover and draw from within yourself and make reality,” says Emanuel. “But even though we’ve manifested certain aspects of the song – and that’s a beautiful thing – it still wants to be seen out in its fullness. ‘Worldwide’ is a song of affirmation and it’s become a prayer to be able to continue until all of those goals are met in their completion.”

The dream to connect with people in the cities and countries he sings about is still very real for Emanuel since the pandemic has prevented him from bringing his music to stages around the world. “It’s wild to me how prophetic music can be. I’m still imagining going to those places, smelling the air, performing in front of crowds, and being able to truly live out what the song is talking about: to be able to take the message, the energy we bring, the light we’ve been blessed with; to be able to share that while also being open to receiving wisdom and exporting that back so we can enrich the places we’re in. That beautiful exchange, that’s the heart of it.”

Mixed by Gary Noble (Amy Winehouse, Nas, Public Enemy), “Worldwide” is the final glimpse into ALT THERAPY, Emanuel’s inaugural full-length project, before the album makes its eagerly anticipated debut on June 16th.

Earlier this Spring, Emanuel was honoured with his first JUNO Award nomination. His critically acclaimed debut EP Session 1: Disillusion has been nominated for Traditional R&B/Soul Recording of the Year which will be awarded at the 50th Annual JUNO Awards this June.

Isaac B Returns With Single, ‘Love Yourz’, Off Upcoming EP ‘Chances Ocean’

Following his appearance on the blog with the video for single ‘SNE HNE’ – which bagged the Music Video of the Month title back in December –  transatlantic MC, ISAAC B returns with single, ‘Love Yourz’, a thoughtful and inspiring number which reflects on life’s struggles and growth in self-love and perseverance.

Isaac B says “I wrote ‘Love Yourz’ in a sunken place, without direction I battled myself, but found hope in my fellow artistic comrades and collective communities. The track title intends to pay homage to ourselves, “Love Yourz” – It’s a celebration for everyone, everywhere. This time here, is just the beginning of our journeys, while we manifest the fruits of our labour to come.”

Cutting his teeth in the Florida rap cypher scene, Isaac B developed a knack for his spontaneous freestyle wizardry, often venting frustration at humanities systematic behaviours. Influenced by Xxxtentacion, YBN Cordae and Kojey Radical, the dual-heritage artist moved to the UK in 2013 where he now fronts the biggest Underground Hip-Hop nights in South London with his collective And What? Ldn.

Unpretentious and poetic in its delivery, ‘Love Yourz’ sets the tone, with its lyrically charged hooks and melodic instrumentation, for his upcoming EP,‘Chances Ocean’, due for release this summer. Have a listen below…
