Song of the Day: Pattern – Trinity Square

Ever since Huey, ZIA, YD, Baby Boy and Trizzy VS released breakout record ‘Creepin’, they’ve been on an upward trajectory and their latest joint ‘Pattern’ looks set to see them enjoy further success as they continue to take their sound to another level.

With a varied mix of 5 separate sonics that provide rap, singing, depth, pace changes and knock out hooks, TRINITY SQUARE confidently blend individuality with the power of a group and are quickly being identified for the fact they can create big, original, sing-a-long records that highlight their exuberant energy and style.

Rooted in friendship, the music is a by-product of the natural vibe between the guys, which is why it works so flawlessly. Their shared opinions, personal takes on situations and ability to share playful innuendos and concepts, in an individual way, makes the result unique, genuine and contrasting from other music on offer right now.

With their hometown of Nottingham already firmly on lock from impressive early releases including ‘Pull Up’, ‘Gwop & Gwolla’, ‘Cold Summer’ and ‘Fanta’, TRINITY SQUARE found their first taste of major support with their most recent single ‘Creepin’ and have since gained support from fellow Notts chart hitters Young T & Bugsey.

Dancehall/Bashment Artist Clip C Switches It Up And Drops Hip-Hop Heavy Anthem, ‘Play Nice’

Signed to East London’s latest buzz grime label Rhythm Rollers, headed up by Roll Deep’s Jamakabi, newest singing CLIP C takes charge of the scene with this concrete anthem ‘Play Nice’.

Running between Nottingham and hometown Brixton, CLIP C has been building to this moment with a flurry of releases penned and primed for takeover this summer and beyond. Earlier endeavours have brought him top ten success in the UK’s Urban Club Chart as well as being featured on Spotify’s Afro Bashment Playlist, but with ‘Play Nice’ about to drop all bets are off as underground popularity for this exciting, versatile new UK artist prepares to spill over into the mainstream.

CLIP C, known for his dancehall/bashment vibes, switches up the style for ‘Play Nice’ in superb fashion, this time opting to showcase his undeniable talent over a hip-hop beat and calling on the talents of UK Drill Pioneer Grizzy for a bedroom verse mid track.

Limoji on production lays down the beat on ‘Play Nice’ and with credits such as Mark Ronson, Basement Jaxx and Giggs on his CV. The track begins with a subtle and calming intro before dropping in to a full-on summer banger guaranteed to lift the roof off any club and send the bar b q party over into heatwave.

With tonnes more to come from CLIP C throughout 2019, it’s time to get ready to pull up ‘Play Nice.’

Album Review: 2 Menace Drinking Juice Rolling Dice in Flatbush – Dice Cannon

So glad to see DICE CANNON (pictured right on the album’s cover art) bounce right back into the game after (what seems) years of lying low.

His comeback comes in the form of a 12-track set, ‘2 Menace Drinking Juice and Rolling Dice in Flatbush’, enlisting fellow spitters including Juice Cannon and Natty Boi Zoe, whose spoken word collection, ‘My Body, My Soul Vol.1’, was featured on the blog back in April and stole the blog’s Album of the Month title last month.

Taking us back to the golden hip-hop era (similar to KRS-One and Public Enemy No.1) through introductory track ‘Drinking Juice Rolling Dice’, the album goes on a journey of different variations of the genre, incorporating a real nice lick of old school R&B/soul, a modern spin on 70s soul/funk and a rather emotive piano-led/boom bap piece (through Bishop Vs Raheem).

When a rapper like DICE CANNON disappears from the scene for a while and returns with a confident swagger, well you know that he cooked up something beyond good.

Song of the Day: How I Stay – SS

One of the most ambitious and active music makers of the UK scene, SwanSounds aka SS is the next star you need to know about and the release of his single ‘How I Stay’ indicates why he is set for very big things.

Perhaps most widely known for working with artists such as Burna Boy, Samini and producing and co writing Dappy’s hit ‘All We Know’, as well as starring in the video too, it’s clear to recognize that SS is not only brimming with talent but sauce too. The young music boss captures everything about what it is right now to stand out and does it with defined clarity and confidence.

With an impressive slew of his own music discoverable online, including ‘03.07.17’, ‘Gasolina’ and ‘Yeah Yeah’ he has been championed by platforms such as HotNewHipHop for his international appeal, while he’s filtered his music through more American sounds, his UK roots are clear from the second he steps on the track, making for an interesting but very fluid fusion of sounds, indicating a cross-Atlantic appeal.

A master of the studio and song writing, ‘How I Stay’ defines Swan’s sound as classy simplistic piano based beats are cut and twisted around a melodic vocal delivery. Intimate moments and feelings occupy the melodic and lilting drum patterns of the record as emotion and truth are audible in the delivery.

‘How I Stay’ is the first record from collaborative mixtape set for release alongside Honey6. The music is deeply rooted in artistry and musicality from the past whilst his music covers the emotions of a young man finding his place in this ever-changing world.

New Music Video: Run – A.M. SNiPER

After gaining almost ONE MILLION Spotify streams, topping the iTunes charts and being added to over 100 Spotify playlists, A.M. SNiPER unveils the highly anticipated and sharp new visuals for ‘RUN’.

The international rap star and businessman is renowned for his quality aesthetics and delivers a spectacular vision of colour, which draws on a movie like storyline synonymous with backdrops from Suicide Squad, Alcatraz and Shawshank Redemption for his latest visual. Prison walls, prisoner comradery and the stark, cold industrial environment contrast against the warming tones from the bright orange theme throughout and the splashes of colour from graffiti filled walls and artwork.

Having built a cult following of over 155k IG followers thanks to his notable rap career and lavish lifestyle that regularly documents him teaming up with exclusive clothing brands and displaying his collection of super cars, clubs and jewellery, A.M SNiPER also regularly treats his followers to behind the scenes exclusives from his shows.

Hitting the European leg of Tekashi 6ix9ine’s tour circuit last year, A.M. SNiPER went on to take part in a summer of festival appearances and was nominated for ‘Man Of The Year’ in Cyprus MAN Magazine. About to kick off his summer of 2019 live events with Plug Nation in Ayia Napa alongside Young Thug, Gunna, Fredo, Yxng Bane, M Huncho and Charlie Sloth, followed by his weekly appearances at KANDI EVENTS every Friday from 14th June, it’s time to stay tuned to his Instagram for an exclusive insight to the world of A.M.
