Song of the Day: My Bad – Tame Kyel (ft. Ta’Shan)

After a year of unrest and breaking barriers society has built up for hundreds of years, TAME KYEL dives head first into chaos and shows how he can not only lyrically impress but also showcase his vocal ability in his single, ‘My Bad’.

The first release under his own label, The Boat Records, ‘My Bad’ features Ta’Shan the Swiss-Indian singer also known as Bombay Mami. Both artists have been working together behind the scenes for many years crafting hit singles such as ‘This Time’, ‘This Time’ Remix ft Konshens and ‘High’ so a collaboration as artists is well overdue.

‘My Bad’ shows Tame maturing musically, in his own words – ‘Right now the world feels separated, emotion is something that unifies us and makes us human. Even though the message may feel sad and sombre the song is presented in a way that allows people to sing and dance together’.

Tame Kyel will continue creating music behind the board as a writer as well as showing the world how diverse he can be as an artist…check out the single below…

Premiere: What You Gonna Do (Video) – Nemi

Like most indie artists during the pandemic, NEMI had to put on her thinking hat and really get creative, dodging the obstacles that the lockdown presents…and as a result, she became interested in the visual aspect of music. Despite having extremely swollen hands from her condition eczema, somehow the alt pop songstress made it happen and circled back to her earlier singles and produced a series of accompanied DIY music videos.

Now Nemi has unveiled the stunning visuals for her 2017 debut single, ‘What You Gonna Do’, which she produced with the help of Niko Pelicolo. Niko made contact with Nemi after hearing her 2019 single, ‘I Can’t Get Through To You’ on a Domino’s Pizza advert and by chance, he expressed his interest in making a film. Though the pair met under peculiar circumstances, they managed to piece together a collage-style production, which features Nemi and her closest friends who elegantly strut to the tranquil experimental pop debut, sporting the musician’s infamous orange bob.

Nemi was previously featured on NEW LEASE MUSIC with the video for single, ‘I Can’t Get Through To You’, which claimed the blog’s Music Video of the Week title five times – a record that’s yet to be broken on the blog’s charts show on Instagram.

Be sure to place Nemi on your radar, as she gets ready to release her EP…for now, press play on the video for ‘What You Gonna Do’.

Premiere: Devil’s Locker (Video) – Henny Knightz

Following the success of his enigmatic, self biographical project ‘The Random House Of Evil’ – which squashes all myths regarding the glamorisation of poverty, depression and ‘the ends’ – rising Hackney artist HENNY KNIGHTZ drops visuals for his new single ‘Devil’s Locker’.

Revealed as the foundation of the EP, ‘Devil’s Locker’ merges a nostalgic, soulful backdrop to unapologetically honest Henny. Encapsulated by the visual geniuses that are the Foolish Professionals (E.Greaves & Anarfi Lloyd), the accompanied video illustrates the duality of a suicidal introvert growing up in the ‘Ends’ of Hackney.

Henny is one half of duo The Knighthood Society featuring fellow rapper Nicki Knightz. Henny executively produced Nicki’s 2020 ‘For The Uninformed EP’ to critical acclaim, and has been covered by Trench Magazine, Earmilk, RWD Magazine, GUAP Mag and GRM Daily.

One of Hackney’s promising rappers, NICKI KNIGHTZ gives a vivid account of dealing with her hair and her identity while growing up an innercity area in her latest video for single, ‘India Arie’, directed by Sau Ali.

Boasting a nostralgic bluesy soul instrumentation, serving as the backdrop for Nicki’s brutally raw narrative, ‘Indie Arie’ forms part of her critically-acclaimed EP, ‘The Uninformed’, produced by rapper and label mate of The Knighthood Society, Henny Knightz. Henny’s video for new single, ‘Devil’s Locker’ will premiere on NEW LEASE MUSIC today at noon.

Song of the Day: Sundown – Juice Menace

Following on from the success of underground hits ‘Bounterfeit’ and ‘Money Dance’, the latter of which led her to be named as Triller’s UK creator of the month, Cardiff hailing rapper JUICE MENACE strikes back with a banger titled, ‘Sundown’ which sees her take on a jumpy, garage influenced instrumental that, lyrically, explores her level-headed sense of ambition and drive.

In an already solid start to 2020, Juice has received props from early champions Gal-Dem, who named her a Ones to Watch 2020 artist, and Spotify, who profiled her in prominent playlist “Rap UK”. She’s also attracting support from UK Rap royalty – taking on Aitch’s 101 Barz Freestyle instrumental, Juice was praised by Aitch himself. Pre-lockdown, Juice had been travelling back and forth from Cardiff to London to collaborate with some of the biggest producers in the game – Flyo, Michelin Shin, SOS and Elevated.

Juice brings a wealth of promise to the scene – with a background in photography, dance and music technology, she is poised for polymath-level success. Taking inspiration from some of the US West Coast’s most formidable figures, such as Mac Dre, YG and Vince Staples, who effortlessly dominate many creative paths from music, to fashion and film, she is bringing this energy to the West Coast of the UK. The video for ‘Sundown’ embraces this multi-faceted ambition. Conceptualised by Juice herself, the video combines her vibrant performance style with a classic summer image of the Cardiff coastline.

Continuing to solidify her place in the scene as one of the most determined rappers in the UK right now, 2020 is looking to be a breakout year for Juice as she experiments with new genres and proves to be an undeniable force to reckoned with. Check out the video for Juice’s ‘Sundown’ below…
