Song of the Day: Love Yourself First – Fifi Rong
Tapping into the emotional energy of our current climate, Avant pop singer/songwriter FIFI RONG‘s single, ‘Love Yourself First’ toys with themes of self-doubt and inner-confidence with its moving production and faint, tender lyrics that are sung in both Chinese and English, expressing Fifi’s multicultural heritage.
“This song acts as a reminder to the indestructible truth we all know deep down, but often neglect in these uncertain times of the world,” Fifi says about the single.
Self-produced, written and recorded by Fifi herself, ‘Love Yourself First’ — along with previous singles — ‘Distance’ and ‘Love Is A Lonely Thing’, will feature on forthcoming LP There’s A Funeral In My Heart For Every Man I Loved, a record that further looks to explore the deeper tropes of the human condition through a collection of unrequited love stories.

Song of the Day: Do You Feel Me – Alice Rowe
ALICE ROWE is making a solid name for herself as a talented singer and songwriter who is obsessed with all elements of soul, pop, jazz and r&b. Her recent release even saw radio play from a key tastemaker in the field, Capital Xtra’s very own Leah David. Alice has shown incredible ability to be innovative with her new video. The visuals for ‘Do You Feel Me’ embrace lockdown, and show strength in the demonstration of mental and physical restrictions that are touched upon in the lyrics.
Alice Rowe’s musical inspirations range from greats like Etta James, to the likes of Loyle Carner. Having unleashed her first single in 2019, her music has continued focused on a wide-ranging fusion of muses to showcase her vast vocal ability. Previous singles, ‘Phase’ and ‘Figure You Out’, showcase Alice’s dynamic personality and sophisticated lyrical composition. Having drawn in tastemakers from Radio 1Xtra and BBC Introducing, Alice looks forward to her first EP that will be released later this year, ‘Foreseen’.
The new video for Do You Feel Me exaggerates the claustrophobic conflict musicians, especially, face in times of lockdown. The track follows the story of confused identity, communication and questions surrounding the real me. A feeling of frustration and restriction is prominent in Alice Rowe’s new visual depiction. It perfectly encapsulates the real-life struggles that are magnified world-wide, showcasing epic surrealism faced for music lovers alike.

Peter Katz Promotes Self-Love With Brand New Single, ‘I Will Never Leave You’
When Canadian singer/songwriter PETER KATZ first penned his single, ‘I Will Never Leave You’, alongside Grammy-Award winning writer and producer Rich Jacques, he thought it was for someone else. However, further along the process, it became very clear that the person he was writing for was himself.
Katz explains further of his new single: “Oftentimes the first person we sacrifice is ourselves, which ultimately means we can’t be of service to anybody. I’ve certainly been guilty of this at times. The whole writing experience had me so far out of my comfort zone that I felt like I wasn’t confined to any rules of what a Peter Katz song is supposed to sound like.”
Through ‘I Will Never Leave You’ Peter hopes to spread the lesson of self love to others. Have a listen below…
Song of the Day: Love Potion – Jai Amore
Off the heels of his falsetto blazing single ‘Give Me You’, released earlier this year, North West Londoner JAI AMORE‘s latest single, ‘Love Potion’ is another intimate vocal performed on top of a classy guitar and string
arrangement, which embodies both new school and old school R&B with a hint of soul.
Speaking of his latest creation, Jai says: “I’ve tried to paint a musical landscape where you find yourself feeling the nostalgia of 90’s
RnB, the theatrics of opera, and the realness of a story that unfolds with each line. I think
there’s so much we still love and learn from the RnB we’re making in the UK, because we
have such unique stories to tell, and a unique way of telling them.”
