New Track: Addicted – Kill J

Danish experimental pop star KILL J has seen her early singles catapulted to No.1 spot on the Hype Machine’s ‘Most Popular’ and ‘Twitter’ charts.

Steadily putting out amazing singles and EPs over the years, the singer-songwriter and producer has already gained a legion of fans including The Guardian,The Fader, Pigeons and The 405, The Line Of Best Fit and Huck Magazine, whilst receiving airplays from the likes of Huw Stephens and Annie Mac on BBC Radio 1, Mamiko Motto on NTS Radio and even a spin on Zane Lowe’s Beats1, culminating in a live session from the BBC legendary Maida Vale Studio for Huw Stephens.

Fast forward to today, the art-pop muse is back with ‘Addicted’, the fourth offering from her forthcoming new album ‘Superposition’. The new cut, out 14th June via Nettwerkon , follows on last year’s fiercely political ‘Strange Fruits of The Sea’, the powerful ‘Dead Weight Soldier’ and the recently released ‘Silver Spoon’. The compelling visuals perfectly depict KILL J as the queen of indulgence and unrestraint wearing Trash Couture and Ann Wiberg couture dresses.

Conformity has never been KILL J’s trademark and she has never played by the rule book. Armed with her latest release, she only looks set to further her position as one of Scandinavia’s most exciting exports: a reputation that will be cemented with her upcoming new album, due on 7th June.

New Track: Time For This – Artifact Collective

Danish six-piece ARTIFACT COLLECTIVE  have released their third single ‘Time For This’, infused with languid R&B and brash indie rock.

Lead singer and songwriter Victor Oliver curates songs influenced by youthful nights spent under the artificial lights of a capital city – his complex, pensive lyricism drawing inspiration from troubled relationships, daydreaming and surreal drama series. Pairing Victor’s polished vocals with slick R&B beats and electronic rhythms, the track is an indefatigable amalgamation of boisterous musical production and intelligent songwriting.

Previous singles have garnered extensive support from Denmark’s hit music station DR P3, with the collective already securing a number of exciting co-signs from abroad – continuing to cement their already burgeoning reputations.

Talent continues to emanate from the north of Europe, and ARTIFACT COLLECTIVE are no exception to this rule. The young group of twenty-year olds write, arrange, record and design every track they produce, and their most recent release proves their indisputable musical expertise.

New Music Video: When You Leave- Young Tiger

Hook-driven electro pop-beats accompany a warm and impassioned Scandinavian voice as Copenhagen-based duo YOUNG TIGER (aka Emma and Rasmus) make their debut with their striking single ‘When You Leave’.

A lyrical universe is set for discovery as Swedish-Danish Emma maps out, word-by-word, the factors coming into play in the relations between lovers, delivering a melancholic, yet hopeful lyrical search of making sense of a world where love is a game and words are often wrongfully interpreted, leaving us in longing and despair.

YOUNG TIGER was founded in a loft in New York in October last year. While Rasmus spent his teens playing punk music before he started producing, the enchanting vocal capabilities of Emma were laying their roots within the jazz and folk scenes. However their collision course was on track and when they finally impacted, they joined forces to create undeniably catchy music laced with cinematic and melancholic elements.

Now set to make their debut to the world, YOUNG TIGER collaborate with the Danish producer Simon Littauer and British songwriter Wolfie for the mesmerizing ‘When You Leave’.

Song of the Day: Lifetime – The Radar Post

Esben Svane – aka –THE RADAR POST – steals NEW LEASE MUSIC’s Song of the Day hotspot with second single, ‘Lifetime,’ coming from his upcoming album  ‘A Good Adjustment To Reality’, expected for release in February

Following the release of first single ‘Pilots’, ‘Lifeline’ continues the project’s digression from the debut LP’s self-conscious folk roots. Relying more on a melancholic, yet hopeful aura, fused with a jangly-indie vibe, this Danish rocker is certainly now more shoe-gazer than folk cowboy.

THE RADAR POST is a solo project formed by former-drummer of pop band A Friend in London. The multi-instrumentalist’s last record came out two years ago which was preceded by two other EPs simply released under a solo moniker. Citing Radiohead as major influence on the rejuvenated sound, Svane’s setting his sights high for artistic brilliance, with good cause to.

With his record penciled in for February and plans to head out on the road in March/April (touring Denmark and Germany, respectively), THE RADAR POST looks raring to go again, and if you know what’s good for you, you’ll keep your radar on watch….

New Track: Watch Me – Louis Rustum

BBC Radio 1 and Clash-approved artist, LOUIS RUSTUM, returns with new single, ‘Watch Me’, via indie label Art People.

‘Watch Me’ blends Rustum’s dynamic fusion of pop, R&B and ethereal beats into a tranquil and confident new offering. Taking inspiration from Frank Ocean, Bon Iver and James Vincent McMorrow, the twilight track shifts between Louis’ tender vocals, neat guitar licks and pensive drum patterns.

The R&B soloist’s music career began in Aarhus in 2014, where he, producer duo Orbit Crew (Carl Barsk and Mathias Lion), and music collective Hukaos (Karl William, Thøger Dixgaard, Tais) put Aarhus on the map as Denmark’s main epicentre of urban R&B. In 2014, Rustum released his critically acclaimed debut EP ‘Tomorrowtonite’ that gained wide recognition amongst native media outlets, becoming the first Danish release to feature on Noisey. It didn’t take long for Louis to find success on an international scale.

Despite this hype, Rustum decided to step back from the limelight, retreating to Malaga with Orbit Crew to develop his sound further, drawing on inspiration from his previous travels in Brazil and his curiosity for 70’s and 80’s R&B/soul.

With an acclaimed EP under his belt, LOUIS RUSTUM returns to the forefront of the future R&B scene…HIGHLY RECOMMENDED – check out ‘Watch Me.’
