EP Review: The Clubs – Kiko Bun

If you’re longing for a trip to the Caribbean, I reckon KIKO BUN will take you there in a matter of seconds through his new EP ‘The Clubs’.

Kicking off with a vibrant and psychedelic take on ska with introductory single ‘ Fistful Of Nothing’, the four-track set goes on to featuring reggae that’s reminiscent of the rocksteady era, still obtaining the vibrancy.

I’m going to stick out my neck here: not every musician can successfully pull off reggae-fusion productions, but this north-west Londoner has definitely GOT IT: not only he makes a great contender in the modern reggae music scene, KIKO BUN somewhat pays homage to the legends of the 60s and 70s, such as The Mighty Diamonds, Slim Smith and Bob Marley.

New Track: Celebrate – K*ners (ft. Incredubwoy)

Championing a sound that captures the heart and soul of hip hop, Bristol native K*NERS released his conscious single ‘Celebrate’.

Activating a deep sense of nostalgia through looping samples and a crisp vinyl feel, K*NERS paints a myriad of pictures and thoughts via his sharp wordsmithery with a throwback delivery.

Building his foundation as a ragga MC on a sound system, K*NERS is the latest in a succession of musical innovators from Bristol treading a path beaten by Wild Bunch, Massive Attack, Portishead, Tricky, Roni Size and more recently, dubstep producer Joker. Connecting the dots between the worlds of Ragga and Hip Hop,K*NERS has a fine-tuned sound that lies across both spectrums of the genres.

Creating a catalogue of music spanning over the last decade including his debut album ‘K In Da Flesh’, as well as his recently released second album ‘Voice of the City’, K*NERS has built a strong following over the years. He has also performed along the likes of legends that include Sugar Hill Gang, Mos Def, GZA/Genius (Wu-Tang), Tinchy Stryder and Mark Ronson.

“Celebrate, is the song to celebrate the fact you can start off in the hoods, slums and ghettos in life but still come out and reach your goals and live your dreams.” – K*Ners

New Track: Like A Child – Sarah Téibo

Multi award-winning Gospel singer/songwriter SARAH TÉIBO‘s latest single ‘Like A Child’ encourages each and every one of us to fully embrace the inner child and leave your cares and woes to the big man above. ‘Like A Child’  is the lead single off her highly anticipated sophomore album ‘Keep Walking’ due for release this summer.

Sporting a real smooth urban R&B drive, ‘Like A Child’ was written by Sarah with producer Luke (GKID) Grant, who produced Britain’s Got Talent 2015 semi-finalist Sakyi Four’s R&B/Afrobeat offering, ‘Simmer Down’. The four-minute production features the spine-tingling harmonies from one of UK’s promising singers, Tehillah Daniel and The Voice UK’s 2018 current contestant Jason Nicholson-Porter.

Sarah grew up in Nigeria where she started singing in choirs from the age of ten, citing Soul and R&B legends including Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye and Kim Burrell as major influences.

In recent years, the London-born songstress is rapidly becoming the most-sought after musician in the UK’s Gospel circuit, following the release of her debut album ‘Walk With Me’ in 2016. She was nominated Best Gospel Act by MOBO Awards in the same year and won best album for her debut album at Premier Gospel Awards in 2017.
