Tennessee artist EXTRAORDINAIRE drops his ode to R&B legends New Edition and one of the group’s solo breakout artists in his rambunctious track, ‘Bobby Brown.’
Extraordinaire explains, “The song came about randomly but I decided to follow through with the train of thought to see where it took me.”
Lifted from his second solo EP in two years, Street & Soul (SNS), UK rap and R&B rising star BRANDZ has linked up with eclectic UK rapper and singer ZIEZIE for his single and EP focus track titled ‘On Me’. Produced by Vitals, who has also worked with the likes of B Young, Ty Dolla $ign and Lil Tjay, the infectious UK R&B-rap fusion offering also comes with a lush perfect-for-summer music video filmed in London and shot by seasoned video director Sesan, whose directorial credits include working with Kanye West, Cardi B and Migos, among others.
‘On Me’ comes on the back of Brandz recently receiving the BRIT Certified Silver award for his viral hit track ‘Intro (Real Love)’ with Zion Foster, from their breakthrough 25/8 collaborative project that has amassed over 250 million streams and sold over half a million units worldwide.
Emerging onto the UK music scene as part of the award-winning British duo Tizzy x Brandz that gave us cult classics such as ‘All Ways’ and ‘Escobar’, Brandz has gone on to become a force to be reckoned with as a solo rising star, with over two million monthly listeners on Spotify, and support from the likes of BBC 1Xtra, GRM Daily, TRENCH, Earmilk, Spotify, MTV UK and Notion, among others. Over the past 12 months, the North London native has been working on his highly anticipated Street & Soul EP and his debut album with the likes of 4-time Grammy Award winner Larrance Dopson (1500 Or Nothin) and DJ Khalil (Nipsey Hussle, A$AP Ferg), among others.

After a short hiatus, MAK ULTRA is ready to take things to the next level with his new single ‘Money Tree’s’. This bop heavy lo fi banger is laced with Mak’a signature nonchalant cadence and charisma. Playful production comes from Troyce Pitones who compliments Mak’s Rags to riches lyrics.
Mak spent a lot of his youth skateboarding which allowed him to see things outside of his usual environment. When Mak was introduced to SOA, he began a whole new chapter in his life, eventually allowing him to focus on music in a whole new way, as he developed his artistry.
He claims: “The music I create is an escape, a trip through my lens. That trips designed to evoke a series of emotion, from the fly, fast life of the city right down to your most vulnerable moment alone.”
I was sooo elated when South African rapper/producer J.A.S slipped me his latest album, ‘L.I.F.E: The Cause’ – it seemed ages since he grace his presence on this blog with previous project, ‘#Don’tSleepOnJAS’, which possesses electronic/downtempo soundscapes with infectious Trip-hop beats/bass.
With this latest album, J.A.S retains the same theme from the previous project, but delving further into the downtempo route with long-term collaborators, South African singers Palesa Blossom and Nevita, who both provide a pleasingly trippy experience with their alluringly soulful vocals with tracks such as ‘L.I.FE’, ‘Controlled’ ‘Moth to A Flame’ and ‘Scattered.’
J.A.S also adds another long-collaborator, South African acclaimed rapper, Sy’Defect to the impressive album’s lineup. Among the chilled vibes of the seven-track project, Sy’Defect injects such vibrancy with his semi-rapid flow to the delicate backdrop of tracks, ‘Controlled’ and ‘Scattered.’
Overall, ‘L.I.F.E: The Cause’ is a great escapism album to kick back with some friends and to forget about the great maze called life. Have a listen below…
