itsnatevendahk Drops Track ‘Wedontdoitlikethat’ + Video

ITSNATEVENDAHK‘s latest drop, ‘Wedontdoitlikethat’ features a heavenly neon twist on 80s soul. The single will form part of his upcoming album “Wedontdothatanymore”.

You may have noticed that the title of the song and album are a series of words formed into one – but there’s definitely a method behind itsnatevendahk’s madness. He explains:
“These titles originated from a keyboard tutorial found on YouTube, in which a teacher is explaining how “We don’t do that anymore, we don’t do it like that” referring to a way of playing soul chord progressions in the 80’s. I ended up taking these chords and re-arranging/manipulating them into different forms, eventually to be referenced throughout the album and especially in Wedontdoitlikethat.”

The Manchester-based musician – whose real name is Sam Frost – has been self-releasing music over the past few years. His last album, ‘the :0 tape’ came out in 2018, leaving a sweet kiss on the local music scene. Since then, he has been working on new music and refining his sound, which has been known as ‘Smooth experimental pop with RnB influences’.

BBC Introducing Artist Jude The Obscure Drops A Dreamy Anthem Of Perseverance

Upcoming singer, producer and multi-instrumentalist,  JUDE THE OBSCURE returns to offer out his latest dreamy jazz-fusion single, ‘Moments’.

The release follows on from previous hits, the smooth neo jazz-rap sounds of ‘Chapter 8’ and the pared back, guitar-led number, ‘Waiting’, both unveiled earlier this year to a welcomed response. The 24-year-old has also had an incredible impact at streaming platforms so far, with spots on New Music Friday UK, Jazz UK and Fresh Finds at Spotify and On The Corner and Jazz Scene: UK at Apple, as well as support on Deezer and Amazon.

Speaking of his latest release the South Mancunian says: “‘Moments’ is about hard work; about overcoming the hurdles that life throws at you; about coming out on top in light of the hardships we face in our day to day lives. It’s an anthem of resilience and perseverance – surviving your early twenties with ambition, aspiration and sanity intact is no easy feat. One way or another, we all find ways to cope with what’s going on around us, now more than ever.”

Song of the Day: Mañana – Xadi (ft. Nina Cobham)

‘Mañana’ was born from a long-standing mutual admiration between West Londoner XADI and Manchester’s Nina Cobham. Their musical chemistry is evident on the track with Nina’s ethereal bilingual vocals sitting atop Xadi’s production perfectly on the hook, and his two reflective, melodic verses proving a perfect complement to that hook.

In spite of the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown restrictions, both artists have been extremely productive. Nina’s most recent single ‘Sola’ has amassed almost five million streams on Spotify and picked up support from the likes of Huw Stephens, Jamz Supernova, Children of Zeus and even music icon Christina Aguilera.

Meanwhile Xadi has also had an excellent year. Back in February, Xadi released his second EP project, ‘Day Ends’. The EP and subsequent follow-up singles have received support from Christina Aguilera, Reprezent, NTS, Rinse, No Signal and Foundation FM, and from tastemakers, Twin B, Lily Mercer, Jyoty and Jamz Supernova.

As well as official releases, Xadi also worked hard on putting out a series of Instagram freestyles and covers during the lockdown, which have led to him receiving praise from the likes of Kojey Radical, Frankie Stew & Harvey Gunn and Jords. His work has also gained attention from the likes of The Guardian, Complex, Off The Block Magazine, The Pit LDN, Have You Heard, Mission Statement Magazine, Yahoo News and the Irish Times.

Song of the Day: Waves – MNRØ

Following up from her widely-acclaimed debut single ‘I’m Not Running to You’, Manchester-based MNRØ’s latest single, ‘Waves’, displays a more contemplative, soulful side of her musical DNA.

This intriguing slice of futuristic pop is nonetheless just as addictive and catchy as its predecessor’s expletive-laden, confrontational blast of electro-pop, and seems tailor-made for sultry late summer evenings on the beach.
