Song of the Day: Jaws of Love

‘Jaws Of Love’ is the latest single by Local Natives’ Kelcey Ayer solo project, JAWS OF LOVE.

The delicately powerful piece is the first release from his upcoming album, ‘Tasha Sits Close to the Piano’, set for release via House Arrest digitally on September 22nd, with its gatefold coloured vinyl release available in the UK on 3rd November.

The first solo project  sees Ayer – the songwriter/vocalist/pianist of the critically acclaimed L.A. band (Local Natives) – hone in on his master craft: the emotive piano ballad as highlighted on the five-piece’s well-received second album, ‘Hummingbird’.

The talented singer-songwriter will play his debut solo headline show on 21st September at The Masonic Lodge, Hollywood Forever Cemetery in L.A with plans to take his compelling live set to the UK and Europe in Autumn.

Song of the Day: Can’t Wait – #Pound

Made up of Smxk£, Darkboi and producer SupaWave, new East London group, #POUND revealed their debut single ‘I Can’t Wait’ last month and are already making waves. The video to the laid back summer joint has so far notched up over 16,000 views via GRM Daily.

The trio already have co-signs from Yxng Bane, Don-E and DJ Melody Kane who have been drawn to their soft, deep bass and laid back melodies lend from R&B and afrobeats.

Although the collective are making their debut together, Smxke, a talented vocalist/songwriter/producer, formerly known as ‘Smokeman’, started his musical journey at the tender of age 15 when he teamed up with grime legend ‘God’s Gift’. Darkboi also started out at an early age when he got recruited to join ‘Kidz In The Hood’ by one of the Grime scene’s most colourful characters ‘Crazy Titch’ and featured on underground hit ‘On Da Block’. Fast-forward to 2017 and with Supawave added to the mix; the super producer who is able to create any genre. .

With an ethos to their music, #POUND aim to portray positivity, good vibes and enlightening energy through their music. Their combination of exceptional and original content alongside a refreshing attitude makes this group an instant save for anyone looking to unearth new talent.

Song of the Day: I’m Done – Justine Giles

Canadian singer-songwriter JUSTINE GILES, stole today’s Song of the Day hotspot with single, ‘I’m Done’, which (in her words) ‘serves as an empowering anthem for all’.

Featuring heartfelt plucks of the acoustic guitar, ‘I’m Done’ was written in her hometown, Sudbury and came to life in Toronto.

Speaking of her single, Giles states. “It’s about saying goodbye and fully letting go of what no longer serves one’s health and happiness. It of course can be applied to a romantic relationship scenario, but the overall intention of the song far surpasses that, and I believe it can be applied to many situations. It may actually act as an anthem to stand up against multiple forms of abuse.”

Though this release greatly differs in style from her previous singles, it’s just as strong and impactful as it touches on the subject of standing up for yourself.

KREATIVE drops the sweet mainstream pop element, featured in previous releases, and gives full-on gritty hip-hop in his latest track, ‘Humble’.

Songs of the Day: Give Up To You – Dizzy Rambunctious

NEW LEASE MUSIC staple DIZZY RAMBUNCTIOUS again switches it up with a spicy dance/EDM number, ‘Give Up To You’ – something for the dreaded humpday.

The instrumental track is taken from the producer’s forthcoming album, ‘Cyberpunk’. Judging from this banger, I reckon the album is worth a lookout. Have a listen to ‘Give Up To You.’
