Tommy B Shares Visuals For Introspective Track, ‘I Don’t Mind.’

Tommy B is the charismatic emcee from Essex that holds the title as one of Complex’s coveted ‘Ones To Watch’ and is one of the most exciting prospects to come out of the UK right now. Having appeared on line-ups that include ‘Radio 1’s Big Weekend’ and collaborated with a string of famed artists, a new wave of music makes its debut with the contemplative single ‘I Don’t Mind’.

Produced by Mr Garrett, a melancholy hue plays out with string led loop and stripped back bass that is accentuated with a dusting of slow tempo keys that tinker into the mix. The production creates the perfect foundation for Tommy B to lay down some vulnerable thoughts as his introspective lyricism picks apart the demise of a relationship. The emcee lyrically unravels the feelings of loss, frustration, regret and acceptance in a spectacular display of lyricism and skill as his wordplay takes charge alongside his use of perfectly painted metaphors and rhymes.

Collaborating with Nathan Smoker, who delivers an outstanding, soulful hook, ‘I Don’t Mind’ builds into a collection of emotionally fuelled moments that make this record a standout track for Tommy B. Having made a huge impact on the thundering grime scene as a teen, his growth in to a skilled and experienced emcee has never been as evident as it is on this latest offering. Whilst a departure from the faster paced beats and scattergun delivery that we’ve seen him play out over his blossoming career, he sits equally at ease offering the vulnerability and emotional connection, which he conveys so eloquently on ‘I Don’t Mind’. In his own words, he goes on to explain, “‘I Don’t Mind’ is a track I wrote when I was going through a break-up, it’s totally raw and vulnerable. Nathan Smoker’s vocals on the hook & Joe Garrett’s production brought the song to life & I believe this is probably the best song I have written”

With a highly anticipated debut album, entitled ‘Spiritual Hooligan’ set for release in 2023, the evolution of Tommy B as an artist is one that is happening before our eyes and ears! Having worked with some of his idols on his come-up, including the likes of Devlin and JME, the forthcoming album is set to be an exploration of styles, sounds and skill from a host of exciting musical contributors. Opening the door on a new moment in time for Tommy B, ‘I Don’t Mind’ certainly paves the way for a continuation of his successes so far.

OUT TODAY: Eva Rawlings Shares Single, ‘5 Steps’

Following her singles ‘LIKE ME’ and ‘Tell Me What You Like,’ Pop/R&B artist EVA RAWLINGS returns with her empowering breakup anthem, ‘5 Steps.’ Inspired by an ex’s bad post-breakup behavior, ‘5 Steps’ showcases Eva’s passionate vocals set to a driving trap beat. Crafted with 11x platinum producer Ian Kimmel, the track delivers a catchy, danceable chorus while tapping into the bitter experience of seeing an ex move on.

Eva says of the track, “My idea was to write one of those counting down songs that went viral, but make it not corny. I liked the idea of writing a snarky song to your ex who got over you way too fast, spelling out what they must have done to be doing fine so quickly after the breakup. So many great producers and writers helped make this song what it is, and we finished it that day, so from the inception of the concept to it being mixed and mastered was less than 24 hours.”

A passionate social activist and feminist, Eva’s’ latest single, ‘LIKE ME,’ was created entirely by women, with streaming proceeds from the single pledged to U.S. abortion funds. She also organized and performed in a fundraiser show with other Berklee acts raising money for an organization to end gun violence. Eva continues to empower listeners with her latest single, ‘5 Steps,’ which is out now across platforms. Have a listen below….

Fresh off the back of her latest five-track EP, ‘Pt. 2,’ UK-based artist/songwriter, BETHIA is back with her latest single, ‘Fake Feelings’. The anthemic Pop/R&B track is a chance for her to harness and share her self-empowerment after going through what felt like a “fake breakup.”

Speaking of her self-written single, Bethia shares: “I created this song for anyone who has ever felt cheated of their own emotions in whatever situation that best resonates; especially if you find it hard to open up emotionally in the first place,”

Bethia is making a name for herself via gigs such as BBC Music Introducing LIVE, and Tileyard Studios, to writing with and for other artists. She developed her own segment – ‘Bethia’s Beats’ – as part of Danyl Johnson’s show for BBC Radio Berkshire & podcast “Best Thing”.

Song of the Day: Acapulco – The Sometimes Island

THE SOMETIMES ISLAND are a synth-forward pop band based in Los Angeles and Albuquerque. The exciting and highly visual live band is comprised of charismatic frontman Matt Blankenship Jr and anchored by drummer Nick Lopiano.

Their single, ‘Acapulco’ explores the excitement of beginning a new chapter of life, yet the contrasting sentiment that comes with it. Blankenship Jr states, “I wrote the song Acapulco to capture that listless ennui I was trapped under in Los Angeles, framing it with a fantasy of an ignored lover reaching their breaking point, leaving and abruptly buying a plane ticket.” The narrative almost ironically pairs with a dream-pop backing, harmonic rhythms, John Mayer inspired guitar riff and a truly contagious chemistry.

The accompanying cinematic music video for ‘Acapulco’ mirrors the song’s story, as we witness the demise of a relationship, where one party decides to flee and head for a better, more wholesome life.

Their forms of expression and musical ingenuity make The Sometimes Island ones to watch this year. With their previous EP Beverly & Barbara peaking at #2 internationally on Apple’s Alternative chart, rocketing past even the likes of Billie Eilish, the duo have also amounted over 800,000 monthly listeners, with streaming numbers in the millions. The Sometimes Island are becoming true pioneers of pop as we know it.

NEAVV Unveils Her Stunning Debut, ‘Want You’

Canadian alternative synth-pop artist, songwriter and producer NEAVV‘s debut single, ‘Want You’, is an emotional and honest song based on the end of her relationship with someone who wasn’t being completely honest at the time. ‘Want You’ is a snapshot of what she was feeling at the time and although she knew she deserved better, NEAVV was still struggling with wanting and missing that person.

Speaking on the emotive piece NEAVV says: “Loss can be pretty complex when it comes to the emotions you feel, but at the core of it all for me is sadness. I just hope listeners find a place to sit in whatever emotions come up for them and know that any loss is hard – and it’s ok to not be ok.”
