SOTD: Gaming Star Kyra Jinx Records Debut Single ‘Side Ho’ In The Same Studio As Stormzy

Already a hit in the world of gaming, KYRA JINX exchanged the console with  the mic for her music debut with single ‘Side Ho’.

Delivering her own spin on rap across the melodic instrumental, the star from Spalding (Lincolnshire) weighs in on an equally impressive R&B hook too, striking a killer combination that is set to be the key to her future success.

Having recorded in the same studio as UK megastar Stormzy and the likes of X-Factor judge Tulisa and TOWIE’s Jessica Wright, the star magic has certainly found its way to Kyra Jinx. With just the right amount of straight-talking lyrics and sing-a-long bars mixed together, this joint nestles perfectly in to any current playlist from your UK faves and is a hit of empowerment for the ladies out there too.

Building an impressive and loyal following through gaming and love of live streaming on Twitch.com, Kyra Jinx made no secret of her desire to perform and quickly began to receive donations to help her book studio time and fund her music dreams. Ready to hit the booth, she then penned ‘Side Ho’ which is a feisty reminder for ladies not to forget their worth and calls out any guy that claims they’re serious about a girl when they’re not.

Teamed with a slick and colourful music video that is set in an arcade, packed with games (of course!), Kyra Jinx makes a no-BS track, which has the singer delivering an anthem for anyone who has ever been wronged.

Song of the Day: Fall – The Lyonz

Formed in 2013, THE LYONZ are a Canadian music group and art collective largely focused upon hip-hop and electronic work. Consisting of Salvo (Anthony Salvo) and Norrin (Terrell McLeod Richardson), their debut album, ‘Peace Beyond The Pines’, released in 2015, led them to perform various shows in Canada and landing a spot in Montreal’s 2016 international Jazz Festival. Their musical style landscapes atmospheric dynamics, conveyed through heavily processed synthetic layers, shifting drum patterns, and the blending in of treated instruments frequently met with melancholic verses. Their unique sound is often unconventional, with arrangements established by high production values, involving extensive digital editing and mixing.

Although primarily a musical group, THe LYONZ also work with other forms of media. They have gained notoriety through their visual artwork including personalized event flyers, short videos, and merchandise. A notable example is their string of weekly flyers promoting their DJ residencies at Montréal venues.

So if you haven’t of these guys, let me introduce you to their mesmerizing latest single, ‘Fall’. Check out the video below…

Teenage Rap Talent Brodie Unveils New Single, ‘Diamonds’

Hotly tipped BRODIE returns, closing the year with his latest single, ‘Diamonds’, which is taken from his forthcoming debut EP set to be released in the New Year.

The captivating bass-heavy rap track sees the North Londoner in braggadocios mode, as he waxes lyrically about the life and times of a rising rap stalwart, who is intent on taking his talents to the very top of the UK rap music landscape.

Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘Diamonds’, Brodie says, “My inspiration for writing ‘Diamonds’ was my desire to be a star in UK rap. I was seeing people blow up around that time and it just fuelled me to write ‘Diamonds’, as it made me feel like I can do it too. You can hear the hunger and passion in the track and I think that’s what makes it powerful. Being a rap artist is all I’ve ever wanted, and I was almost speaking all the things I wanted into existence”.

Already garnering early support from tastemakers such as GRM Daily, Link Up TV, and SBTV, t Brodie is fast proving to be one to watch for 2020. With his infectious flow, lyrical prowess, melodic raps, and singing abilities, which he barely scratched the surface of, on previous singles like ‘Rain On Em’ and ‘Rest & Pray’, this 17-year-old is definitely setting himself apart from the rest of the pack, in a pretty big way….

Song of the Day: Cold Naan – R Choppa

The UK rap scene has never been such a hive of cultural influence as it is right now and R CHOPPA delves into his Asian heritage for the release of his latest joint, ‘Cold Naan’.

Bringing an alternative hip-hop flex to the wider mainstream, R CHOPPA delivers ‘Cold Naan’ with a carefree attitude and freestyle flows that feel almost completely created on the spot. His confidence and personality shine through in abundance as he delivers an eccentric, versatile and abstract rap record that is deep with choral chants, thumping drums and emblazoned with the vibrant sounds of India, whilst also managing to make an anthem from the subject of pizza and ‘Cold Naan’.

The record is taken from the recent release of his ‘Animal Behaviour LP’, which is a 17-track project laden with an array of influences making it a refreshing, alternative and interesting playlist that refuses to adhere to the simplicity of mainstream sounds. Blurring the conventional lines is exactly what R CHOPPA stands for whether it be with genre, lyricism or character – he’s not here to deliver a tried and tested recipe that has been here for generations but instead he finely weaves a multitude of flavour to cater to every taste with new, experimental energy.

Making his visual debut with the self-directed and idiosyncratic video, ‘Cold Naan’ is the perfect introduction to R CHOPPA. Packed with fun, character, quirk and everything that goes against the grain of the polished, mainstream, it retains clarity and is a bold statement for the rising young star….
