Song of the Day: Can’t Talk – Tiera Beverly

Produced by Jason Mater (Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder, Eminem) and Brandon Rogers (Alec Benjamin, Troye Sivan, Bea Miller), TIERA BEVERLY‘s leading single ‘Can’t Talk’ oozes  sultry vocals, dramatic drums and soaring smokey harmonies, creating a throwback feel to Beverly’s love of 90’s girl groups. The track is brought to life with live musicians and twinkling keys, emitting a mesmerizing ambiance and showcasing her love for artists such as Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson and Aaliyah.

Thematically ‘Can’t Talk’ narrates the journey of youth and realizing that to reach your goals you need to put yourself first. Beverly reveals, “This song was inspired by what I view as the current state that we live in, as far as technology. I do like things about social media, but I do feel like we are in a world so fueled by the need for constant reassurance and instant gratification. I definitely think that a lot of people have such a short attention span and it can cause for insecurity in relationships”.

The Los Angeles-based R&B songstress was born into a family of musicians – her father and grandfather (the famed Frankie Beverly) were both musicians and accomplished artists.

Gavin Haley & Ella Vos Join Forces For New Single, ‘The Way I Am’

Los Angeles based singer/songwriter GAVIN HEALEY has teamed up with one of the most exciting new acts in pop music, Ella Vos for the hypnotic pop single, ‘The Way I Am’, released last Friday (13th September) on all download and streaming sites. A union of two of music’s most promising acts, ‘The Way I Am’ is a delightful indie-infused pop song that drips with delicate melodies and romantic lyricism.

“When I heard Gavin’s song I immediately connected to it,” Ella Vos says of the collaboration. “I’ve been someone who’s definitely not been vulnerable enough in relationships and have many times found myself saying ‘sorry for the way I am.’ I love the lyrics and I love how our voices sound together.”

Gavin echoed a similar sentiment, explaining that the duo were able to “relate a lot outside of music” which made writing process a seamless experience. “I love when people are pushing to be the best versions of themselves and Ella is a perfect example.”

‘The Way I Am’ follows Gavin’s recent single, ‘Show Me’ and forms part of his debut album, set for release later in the year. Have a listen to the stunningly smooth single below…

Uffie Delivers Bold Electro-Pop On New Single “Mine”

Electro-pop princess UFFIE continues her return to music with the release of a sparkly new single titled ‘Mine’. Co-written with Imad Royal (Panic! At The Disco, Bea Miller) and Rogét Chahayed (Travis Scott, Kendrick Lamar, Halsey), the latest offering is melodic electronic perfection that calls back to UFFIE‘s signature “party-ready” vibe while still maintaining the more nuanced pop aptitude that the French-American artist has demonstrated in her recent work.

Since releasing her ‘Tokyo Love Hotel’ EP earlier this year, UFFIE has been welcomed back, arms wide open, to the music industry. Her new music has been praised by key tastemakers such as V Magazine, PAPER, i-D, FLAUNT, and DAZED, and has led to headlining gigs at Elsewhere (NYC) and Moroccan Lounge (LA). In addition to sharing her own music, UFFIE also recently co-wrote P!NK’s new single “Hurts 2B Human (ft. Khalid).” 2019 is proving that she’s is ‘ufficially’ back!

EP Review: This Is For You – Monti

Reflecting on her experiences – from a turbulent childhood, living on the streets, to being in a codependent relationship, geared by drugs and alcohol, LA-based power-pop singer MONTI takes back control and power through her debut EP, ‘This Is For You.’

Introducing a slight misty bed of  soft indie electro pop soundscapes, the tempo picks up with third effort ‘Shadow’, which gives off a big band-ish feel to the electro/pop combo, before reverting back to those floating tones. The star of the show is, no doubt, MONTI‘s powerfully soulful vocals, which is not only pleasing to the ears, but also invites the listener into her world of past hardships, enabling them to feel the pain she went through.

Although it’s autobiographical, ‘This Is For You’ serves as a source of inspiration for anyone to overcome any adversity in life. If this talented newcomer can rise above her troubles, surely so can you.

New Music Video: Cerise Dream – Temple of Angels

Following the release of their sophomore EP, ‘Foiled’, and debut U.S. tour in 2018, which saw them sharing the stage with the likes of Iceage, Beach Fossils, Boy Harsher, and John Maus, Austin and Los Angeles-based post punk/dream pop band TEMPLE OF ANGELS are back with their first single of 2019.

‘Cerise Dream’ sees the band further explore a more melodic direction, perfect for those summer days. The single was released as a 7″ last Friday (14th June) along with the digital release through post-punk tastemakers Funeral Party Records.

In addition to the 7” release TEMPLE OF ANGELS unveiled the music video for ‘Cerise Dream’, directed and edited by vocalist Bre Morell in collaboration with Director of Photography, Erynn Patrick.
