OUT TODAY: Listen To Akshath’s Single, ‘Bat An Eye’

Being a massive fan of LA, Mumbai singer/songwriter AKSHATH‘s brand new  single, ‘Bat An Eye’ was produced with the late night California coastline imagery in mind – to complement those 2AM therapeutic drives. ‘Bat An Eye’ is about coming to the painful realisation that his love was unrequited and toxic.

The soothing arrangements of the quarter note percussion, large synths and the soft piano were perfectly washed over the 20-year-old’s tranquil vocals.

Becoming quickly renowned for producing infectious R&B/pop numbers, influenced by the likes of Lauv, Jeremy Zucker and LANY, Daniel Caesar and John Mayer, Akshath released his debut single, ‘Bad For Me’ last year, followed by single, ‘I Don’t Mind’, which was released under the Universal Music Label, after winning place in a nation-wide competition held by the UM label.

‘I Don’t Mind’ went on feature on Spotify’s New Music Friday and The Sound Of Mumbai and the New Music Daily playlist on Apple Music. The official music video for the single has garnered over one million views on YouTube since its release.

Nova Shares Afrofusion Track, ‘Precious Diamond’ Featuring Katasha J

Following on from the success of his well-received single ‘Replay’, Toronto-based alternative afrofusion artist NOVA is kicking off 2021 new single titled ‘Precious Diamond’, featuring Toronto songstress and musician Katasha J. The bouncy number is a teaser to his upcoming fourth studio project.

‘Precious Diamond’ is an infectious R&B leaning offering, with lush pop and afrofusion sensibilities, over which Nova continues to lean into the vulnerability he began to reveal on ‘Replay’, as he pines for experiencing life’s special moments with someone special, this time with the help of Katasha J, who adds her sultry harmonies and delicate vocals, to the glorious affair.

Born in England to an American father and a Ghanaian mother, raised in Nigeria, and now living in Canada, the influence of these vibrant and diverse cultures can be heard throughout Nova’s innovative genre-bending sound.

Foley’s New Single Is Just ‘Better Than Love’

Hailing from New Zealand, pop duo FOLEY share their new single, ‘Better Than Love,’ the final taster from their upcoming EP, ‘Vacation,’ due out on March 12th.

Grounded by mellow pop grooves and honeyed vocals, ‘Better Than Love’ is a dreamy exploration of the prospect of love versus the reality of love and the way we close off our emotions to protect from future heartbreak.

Foley is the late night conversations, not-so-existential crises, and the genuinely unbreakable friendship of 20-somethings Ash Wallace and Gabriel Everett. Honest to a fault, Foley have quickly picked up a fanbase of young like-minded listeners for their confessions of love, loss and learning. Their debut EP, ‘On My Conscience,’ was released in 2020 and saw huge success across commercial radio and streaming platforms, hitting #10 on the NZ Album Charts, and plastered the pair across multiple Spotify playlist covers. They rounded out the year with the release of singles ‘Rendezvous’ and ‘So Personal,’ which will join ‘Better Than Love’ on their upcoming sophomore EP, ‘Vacation’.

Trust Tale Vents His Frustration In New Banger, ‘FaceTime’

New Jersey’s rapper and producer TRUST TATE should not even be alive today, because as the New York Times reported back in 1994, when he was only a 7-month-old infant, he was struck twice by stray gunfire while being pushed in a stroller in the middle of the Bronx where he was born, so it’s a miracle that the Jersey City native is here in 2021 and able to do what he loves.

As the saying goes, Trust Tate is playing with house money, and every day that he is still breathing is simply an added blessing, a matter of fact that you can hear in the freedom, ease, candour and spontaneity, with which he is creating and making music.

Even though he has been building a community on SoundCloud for years now, where he has released over 150 songs exclusively for his fans, 2021 marks Trust Tate’s official introduction to the mainstream music landscape, beginning with his brand new single ‘Facetime’ featuring emerging Bronx artist and producer Jus1, and produced by Certibeats.

Speaking about his inspiration for the track, Trust Tate says, “My music is like voice recording a therapy session and putting a beat over it, and ‘Facetime’ is another of those therapy sessions with me venting about my love and hate relationship with attention-seeking people and time-wasters, Facetime just happened to be the platform bearing the brunt of all my frustrations”.

While his father came up as a teenager with legends such as Rakim, Eric Sermon and KRS-One in Long Island and the Bronx, and was well known as a breakdancer and graffiti artist in the late eighties and early nineties, his mother raised him on an eclectic mix of music ranging from Jay Z to Red Hot Chilli Peppers to John Mayer, and between both of them, it sounds like it was written for Trust Tate to become a musician.

His time at Cicely Tyson’s School for Performing and Fine Arts, and his psychology degree from Rutgers University, where he met audio engineer Andrew Boateng (Audiomack, Naja Young, Hanz), have only helped to hone his skills further and prepare him for what is set to be his breakout year, with his debut project scheduled for this summer…but for now, have a listen to Trust Tale’s latest…
