Song of the Day: How Did You Get In My Bed – Entity

Natalie Diaz, the brainchild behind ENTITY, has entered onto today’s hot spot with the soft and rather sensual single ‘How Did You Get In My Bed’.

An ode to the familiar feeling of waking up somewhere you wish you hadn’t, the New York native explores the fickle complexities of reuniting with an ex whose emotions are still prevalent. Using punchy synths and commanding percussion, the indie pop track emulates the confusion that she is feeling with ease, with the dreamy melody perfectly aligning with the heartfelt lyrics about her first love and how it was a moment of realisation for her personally. Knowing she has fallen for another woman, this was Natalie’s breakthrough, finding out about her sexual orientation and that she can love both men and women.

Song of the Day: Flowers – Julian Skiboat

When you hear JULIAN SKIBOAT you stop and listen. Hailing from San Antonio, the 24 year-old multi instrumentalist and singer-songwriter evokes emotions out of each and every lyric and guitar strum. What’s astonishing is that up until recently, he has made all of his music on his iPhone 5.

Starting out writing music at the age of 18, Julian was a drummer for local pop-punk bands in his hometown. Now the young enchanter has found his own sound. Following the release of his debut EP, ‘Nice To Meet U,’ which has garnered over one million streams to date, Julian is now unveiling his next slew of singles. Transitioning from his usual “sad boy” romance songs, to tracks about self-growth, the releases are all inspired by his day-to-day living, touching on themes from his own experiences and relationships, to everyday occurrences and general thoughts, providing comfort to listeners by reminding them that we’re all in this together.

Julian Skiboat

His single, ‘Flowers’ was written after Julian had a mental reset. The uplifting song explores how some things really aren’t the end of the world and that just because something goes wrong, it doesn’t mean it can’t be fixed. Produced by Peter Kuli, ‘Flowers’ is the first time Julian has collaborated with anyone on his music. Sonically the track features laid-back, lazy melodies, effortless hazy vocals and soft, jazz-tinged guitars, emitting an almost therapeutic feeling.
