R&B Girl Group BLK Release Single ‘Girls’ From EP + Video

BLK, the first R&B girl group from the city of Toronto in recent history, are solidifying themselves within the international music scene on their single ‘Girls’. Introducing melodic tempos paired with a lush range of R&B vocals and hip-hop flows, ‘Girls’ is a female empowerment anthem positioned to be the soundtrack for every woman dealing with a significant other who needs to get kicked to the curb.

Produced by Pops (Drake, Machine Gun Kelly) & Lowner, BLK sings unapologetically over rich guitar chords & rhythmic 808’s “lost yourself a bad b*tch, lost yourself a marriage, lost yourself a Queen.”

These three solo artists—each of whom write, produce, and perform—combine their initials and colourful styles. This universally-minded outfit is spreading some authentic BLK Girl Magic.

All three artists have Canadian roots. Bexk, a fashion design student from Toronto’s East End, is of Bajan heritage. “I’m the savage,” she admits—employing her nickname as something of an alter-ego, “I fight for our best interests at all times, and encourage others to speak up.” Korahjay is a self-described free spirit from Montreal who comes from a Jamaican family. Her moniker, combining words from scripture and a family name, means power. Lilac X, whose exponent represents self-empowerment, considers herself a citizen of the world.

Jessica Wilde Returns With Single, ‘Daylight’

‘Daylight’ is the fourth single from JESSICA WILDE‘s concept album, with each song serving as a diary entry, going on a journey from addiction, toxic relationships to self-love and living sober. Her latest effort has a classic soul sound, with rich textured backing vocals reminiscent of a 60’s golden era but with an unexpected twist as Wilde introduces her fresh statement London rap flow, telling the tale of a relationship fueled on reckless, wild, party nights turning into a self-sabotaging Groundhog Day.

‘Daylight’ will be followed by two remixes set to land 10th September from Murder he Wrote, who last year amassed over half a million streams and has consistent support from Jeremiah Asiamah (BBC Radio 1), Tom Ravenscroft (BBC 6Music) and Anna Lunoe (Apple Music) and duo Ren Phillips and Ying Yang who have regular releases on Sola, Cr2 and Support from Jamie Jones, Joel Corry and SKT.

Wilde’s exciting project and authentic artistry has already picked up some serious heat across BBC Radio including ‘Record of the week’ on BBCR1xtra, BBC Radio London (Robert Elms show/Claira Hermet/Lionheart and Salma El-Wardany/Emelia Poamz) 6 Music, KISS FM (Rudekid), Hoxton Radio (Kerry Boyne), Reprezent Radio (Amika Eazer/Laughta), Radio 5 (Amsterdam) and many more.

Here’s your chance to check out ‘Daylight’, where Wilde has once again collaborated with producers Eljay and Grammy award winner Kiris Houston (The Disciples, Little Mix).

Song of the Day: Hail Mary – HI SIENNA

Manchester based, animated four-piece, HI SIENNA, are leaning toward a unique sound in 2021 with latest single, ‘Hail Mary’, a juxtaposition between an angelic gospel-sounding melody and the raunchy exploration of lust and desire through it’s lyrics (think INXS). It’s an epic combination of twangy guitars, stadium-filling strings and harmonies that gift an uplifting, euphoric sound to the ear.

Formed in 2019, they bounced onto the scene, playing their first show as a headline at Manchester’s Deaf Institute, supported Scouting For Girls at the O2 Ritz and released their debut single, ‘Favourite’ Thing, in November that year. Their following releases have continued to be supported by the likes of Xs Manchester (record of the week), Amazing Radio (record of the week), BBC Introducing and even some famous faces such as Robert Carlyle and the legendary Dave Haslam!
