EP Review: Highlands – Delafaye

After periods of recording from the bedroom of his Louisville apartment , Andrew Shockley -aka DELAFAYE – presents his latest EP ‘Highlands, released last month.

The acoustic guitar and drums takes lead in ‘Part I’ and ‘She Shook Me,’ giving off a sultry soulful rock sensation, where the alternative rocker’s vocals lures between the arrangements. Further along the EP, a sweet harmonica makes a brief presence through third effort, ‘Tripping and Rolling’, adding a feather light folkore feel.

‘Highlands’ EP routes back and concludes with that real gritty soulful/rock combo along with the alluring vocals from the beginning.

There are some potential favorites in this mini package – it was VERY hard to choose – so it’s over to you; have a listen to the EP and pick your favorites and say in the comment box.

Must Listens: Part I, Tripping and Rolling, Part II

Upcoming Release: I Ain’t Got Time – Cilla Raie

Singer/songwriter CILLA RAIE returns with a bold second release of the year, ‘ I Ain’t Got Time’, which sees the sultry songstress expressing her lack of interest for ‘time-wasters’.

Produced by Sami Dolla, the record features three of UK’s critically acclaimed rappers: Jammin MC, C Cane and Double S. Watch out for the video as is set to be explosive!

The track follows Cilla’s last release ‘Masterpiece’, produced by Joey Dyer (Iggy Azalea, Katy B, Conor Maynard). Released back in March, ‘Masterpiece’ received support from BBC Radio 1Xtra, The Link Up and has clocked up over 22,000 plays.

‘I Aint Got Time’ is out on 18 August, following with the release of her second EP in early 2018.

New Track: The Gulf – Daniel Alexander

Multidisciplinary South-London artist DANIEL ALEXANDER unveiled his powerful new track ‘The Gulf’, on Monday via up and coming visionary French label Maison Ainsi.

The former member of a well-known band – signed to a credible UK independent label, who went on to release three albums and tour the world – DANIEL ALEXANDER’s current sound was developed from isolation and refusal. An internal refraction of collective dissonance, his solo journey saw his first effort, ‘Trains’ released on French producer and DJ Yuksek’s label Partyfine compilation ‘Partyfine – Vol.2’. Whilst his first standalone single, the double A-side ‘the moments u had but were never at’, was premiered on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show and released on Acid Air Recordings, while ‘Chinooks’ was included on Killing Moon compilation ‘New Moons Vol. VI’. His recently released single ‘DOUBLEGLAZEDGAZEDOWN’, defined by Clash as “fascinating” was released on up and coming visionary French label Maison Ainsi on 23rd June.

With his live solo credentials already including a performance at Winter Camp Festival, DANIEL ALEXANDER’s interest in live visuals will lead to a series of solo performances where imagery and lyrics shift tectonically. Perfecting his craft with each new release, it is Daniel’s ability to consistently create emotionally charged, revelatory music that makes him a standout talent for 2017.
